Port of Spain, July 24 (Ians) India came out with guns blazing in their second innings but rain played spoilsport and halted their progress, reducing the session to just three overs as India reached 118/2 at Tea on the fourth day of the second Test.
After forcing an early lunch, the rain started soon as the batsmen were ready to get into the field for the afternoon session. Though the rain stopped soon, the wet ground stopped the play further and kept the players inside. Eventually, when play finally started, India crossed 100 runs off 75 balls on the second ball of the 13th over.
However, India suffered a setback when they lost opener Yashasvi Jaiswal in the same over, falling to a slower delivery that landed at the good length spot outside off-stump. Jaiswal attempted a slog-sweep across the line but the bounce got him and the top edge ballooned and keeper Joshua Da Silva...

New Delhi, July 23 (Ians) Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli might have scored exhilarating centuries in the ongoing Test series against West Indies but the Team management missed a crucial aspect of nurturing the upcoming prodigies of World cricket keeping in mind the next cycle of the World Test Championship (Wtc).
Following Australia’s emphatic win over India in the Wtc 2023, it was a perfect opportunity for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (Bcci) to give chance to young guns who had proven their mettle in the domestic setup.
Also with the likes of captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ajinkya Rahane being closer to the end of their careers, it was the right time for the Team management to give to players having minimal international experience against the weak West Indies side.

Port of Spain, July 23 (Ians) India debutant Mukesh Kumar won praise from bowling coach Paras Mhambrey after the right-arm pacer claimed his first Test wicket on a rain interrupted Day 3 of the second match against the West Indies, here on Saturday.
Mukesh claimed the wicket of fellow debutant Kirk McKenzie for 32 on a day that saw the West Indies show plenty of fight with the bat, as the hosts frustrated India to go to stumps at 229/5 and still trailing by 209 in the second match.
While veteran spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja did the bulk of the bowling on Saturday, Mukesh showed enough on debut through 14 overs to show he has a future in red-ball cricket as he got the wicket of McKenzie and then was entrusted to partner Mohammed Siraj with the second new ball later in the day.

Kraigg Brathwaite’s 235-ball 75 led West Indies’ watchful approach but the other batters, who also showcased restraint, could not convert their promising starts into bigger contributions as India managed to time some timely wickets.
West Indies, who scored only 143 runs in the 67 overs bowled in the day’s play, will depend on Alick Athanaze (37 not out) and Jason Holder (11 not out) to lead them closer to India’s first-innings score.
In the first session, India’s debutant Mukesh Kumar dismissed West Indies’ debutant Kirk McKenzie for 32 off 57 balls before rain forced an early lunch.

New Delhi, July 19 (Ians) Left-arm spinner Shahbaz Ahmed on Wednesday said Indian cricket team will look to win gold in what would be their official debut at the Asian Games.
He commented on the fact that cricket is being represented in having the chance to win a yellow metal is a matter of great pride.
This is the second time the men’s cricket team will play in a multi-sport event. The Indian men’s cricket team played at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur in a 50-over format. The matches, however, were not accorded international status and were recorded as List A games.
“Our tournament starts for us from the quarter-final stages. All the teams would be good and well prepared. We hope for the gold medal for the country,” Shahbaz Ahmed told a YouTube channel ‘Cricket Basu’.

New Delhi, June 28 (Ians) With an estimated up to 4 million social media influencers, the influencer marketing in India is likely to be worth $2.8–$3.5 billion in 2028 as more brands are leveraging the credibility of influencers to promote their products, a report showed on Wednesday.
Influencer marketing has gained much momentum in last 12 months as it helps brand improve its reach to their target audience more effectively.
There are about 3.5 to 4 million influencers in India influencer marketing ecosystem, according to Redseer Strategy Consultants.
“One of the primary challenges in influencer marketing is the effective matching of influencers with the specific campaign requirements of brands, along with the ability to accurately assess influencer engagement metrics,” said Mukesh Kumar, associate partner at Redseer.
“Simultaneously, influencers often encounter difficulties in achieving price transparency and securing favourable deals. The advent of emerging models, such as creator marketplaces, holds significant potential in resolving these challenges,” he added.

Chasing 128, Delhi were off to a strong start with skipper David Warner hitting 10 boundaries out of 12 in the powerplay.

New Delhi, April 20 (Ians) A disciplined bowling performance by Axar Patel (2/13), Kuldeep Yadav (2/15) Ishant Sharma (2/19) and Anrich Nortje (2/20) helped Delhi Capitals (DC) bowl out Kolkata Knight Riders (Kkr) for paltry 127 in a rain delayed Ipl 2023 match at Arun Jaitley Stadium, here on Thursday.
Kkr had a dismal show with the bat as only three batters managed to touch the double-digit mark in front of DC’s impressive bowling display. Roy’s gritty innings of 43 off 39 and Russell’s 38 not out off 31 were the saving grace for Kkr, who lost wickets at regular intervals.
Put into bat first, Kkr lost three wickets within the powerplay. Ishant Sharma began the attack well, giving away just five runs off the opening over.

Guwahati, April 8 (Ians) The first over in both innings of the Rajasthan Royals-Delhi Capitals clash in Ipl 2023 at the Barsapara Cricket Ground on Saturday literally made the difference between the two teams apparent.

That set the tone for Rajasthan’s 57-run victory over Delhi and propelled them to go on top of the ten-team points table. Openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler smashed half-centuries in a rollicking 98-run opening partnership, including slamming 14 boundaries in the first six overs.
Though DC clawed back with three quick wickets in the middle overs, Shimron Hetmyer provided for the finishing touch with 38 not out to propel Rajasthan to 199/4. In reply,...

New Delhi, April 4 (Ians) Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and elected to bowl first against Delhi Capitals in Match Seven of Ipl 2023 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
Capitals are playing their first home game of the season after 2019 while the Titans are featuring in their first away match of the tournament, with the pitch described to be a flat one with a slight tinge of grass.
After winning the toss, Pandya said South Africa batter David Miller and uncapped India batter B. Sai Sudharsan come in for injured Kane Williamson, who is ruled out of the tournament, and all-rounder Vijay Shankar.
“Not sure how the wicket is going to play. Obviously losing Kane — we’re gutted. Especially for him. As a team, we can manage but are gutted for him. Not much talking in our team. Just about keeping things simple and focusing on controllable.

New Delhi, April 3 (Ians) Delhi Capitals’ bowling attack will be under focus in a bid to bounce back in Ipl 2023 in the comfort of their home ground when they host Gujarat Titans at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday.
The two teams have met only once in Ipl, during last year when Gujarat emerged victorious by 14 runs. Tuesday’s match is also the first time Gujarat will play an away match as part of the tournament returning to the home-and-away format.
Back to playing at their home base for the first time since 2019, Delhi will be itching to put up a much-improved show in all departments of the game after being underwhelming in a 50-run loss to Lucknow Super Giants in their tournament opener.
Their bowlers lacked the cutting edge with the ball, ground fielding was sloppy, and the batting line-up was blown away by Mark Wood’s raw pace.

The #MeToo movement arrived late in India. But it is a juggernaut that is here to stay, and is having a measurable effect on production.
Aamir Khan Productions is to withdraw from a film where one of the filmmakers is accused of harassment in a 2014 case that is currently sub-judice. “This is an opportunity for the film industry to introspect and take concrete steps towards change,” actor/producer Aamir Khan and producer Kiran Rao tweeted in a joint statement. “For far too long women have borne the brunt of sexual exploitation. It has to stop.”
The movement kicked off with actress Tanushree Dutta accusing veteran actor Nana Patekar of harassment on the sets of “Horn ‘Ok’ Pleasss” in 2008, an allegation she made then and again last week. This was followed by harassment allegations against Phantom Films founding partner Vikas Bahl by an employee. That led to the dissolution of the company.
