Lana Del Rey has avoided the small-screen stage for years following her widely-discussed 2012 “SNL” performance.
While covering The Hollywood Reporter, the critically acclaimed songwriter and singer, 38, explained her decision to depart from televised performances after her infamous rendition of her hit tracks “Blue Jeans” and “Video Games” on the skit series.

Despite being sent a multitude of offers to bring her pipes to network television, Del Rey admitted she only chose to perform “Let Me Love You Like a Woman” from Chemtrails Over The Country Club on a 2020 episode of “The Tonight Show” – which featured no live audience due to Covid-19 lockdown restrictions.
“Maybe [performing on TV is] something else I’ll grow into more, like touring. And don’t get me wrong. I toured for nine years of my life. It was nonstop.

Jack Antonoff and Bleachers are back with a new song, “Modern Girl,” marking their first new song since 2021.
The track is quintessential Bleachers, with its distinctly 21st century, anxious energy paired with heart-on-sleeve E Street nostalgia. There are gang vocals on the chorus, tributes to New Jersey, a little glockenspiel, self-referential band shout-outs, and you better believe the bridge is an instrumental breakdown and rave-up filled with “woah-oh-oh”’s and dueling saxophones.
“Modern Girl” also arrives with a music video, directed by Alex Lockett, which captures a boisterous performance from the band.

Robert Grant, Lana Del Rey’s father, has made a name for himself and even has his own fans who love to call him one nickname in particular — Nepo Daddy.
The entrepreneur and musician’s piano skills have “gone from kind of a fun side project to a real job” as Grant recently released his debut album, Lost At Sea, which features Lana on two tracks. In a new interview with Et Canada, Grant, 69, talks about how he’s embraced being called Nepo Daddy and how he decided to put music into the world after playing with his daughter.
“That Nepo Daddy thing started popping up in social media comments, and I saw it about five months ago,” he told Morgan Hoffman of when he first heard the nickname. “And right away, you know, being an old ad guy, I thought, ‘Aha! That’s a pretty catchy phrase. In fact,...

Daddy Del Rey released his new album. On Thursday, Rob Grant released his piano album Lost at Sea — and with it, a second collaboration featuring his daughter Lana Del Rey. Produced by Jack Antonoff, “Hollywood Bowl” sounds like a song Del Rey could’ve snuck on her album There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd.
“I know I’m not Joni Mitchell/But I’ve got a dad who plays like Billy Joel,” she sings in the first verse. “I know I can’t see the whole picture/But I...

Nepotism usually flows from parent to child, but not in the case of Lana Del Rey.
That’s because Del Rey’s dad, Rob Grant, is about to release his debut album, the 14-track Lost At Sea, and has already unveiled a few singles, including “Setting Sail On A Distant Horizon”.
Del Rey – whose real name is Lizzie Grant – is reportedly featured on two of the album’s tracks, while her frequent collaborator Jack Antonoff is one of the album’s producers.
As a result, Grant has been dubbed a “nepo daddy” — a term he embraces.
“The nepo daddy thing I love,” the 69-year-old told GQ, revealing he first encounter the term via Instagram comments.

Maxwell Jenkins, Jeremy Ray Taylor and Katie Douglas have jumped on board This Too Shall Pass, a coming-of-age drama from writer-director and indie horror veteran Rob Grant.
The ensemble cast for the pic to start shooting next month in Calgary includes Ben Cockell, Jaylin Webb, Aidan Laprete, Nikki Roumel and Chris Sandiford.
Set in 1987 in Syracuse, New York, This Too Shall Pass follows Simon, a 16 year-old suffocated by his strict Mormon upbringing and rebelling as he leaves town with friends for a weekend in Canada, only to see events further make Simon question his religious and personal beliefs.
“This cast is dynamite, the team behind the scenes are amazing, and I can’t wait to bring the world a different slant on the coming-of-age genre!” Grant said in a statement.

Lana Del Rey’s ‘Did You Know There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd’ Is Her Most Soul-Searching Album Yet
Early in Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd, Lana Del Rey highlights a sermon from megachurch pastor-to-the-stars Judah Smith. In the most Del Rey fashion, it was clearly recorded on her phone during a service — you can hear her and a friend’s giggles bump up in the foreground, above Smith’s projecting voice and a piano instrumental that keeps it moving. Smith proselytizes about love and lust, reading from the Book of Psalms. His presence feels strikingly superfluous in the context of Del Rey...

In space, no one can hear you grumble about your s****y job. The title sequence for "Red Dwarf" opens with a guy in a grubby spacesuit, miserably daubing paint on the exterior of the eponymous mining vessel. When the camera pulls back we can see why he's unhappy; he is working on the "F" of the ship's name which must be about 80 feet high.
It could be a scene from "Dark Star" or "Alien," two movies that showed us that space travel will be pretty boring and arduous for the regular Joes who keep the lights on during long hauls between the stars. Those films provided inspiration for "Red Dwarf" writers Rob Grant and Doug Naylor, who set their cult British show on a spaceship three million years in the future. Only one of its characters is a living human, but that doesn't stop them from following the classic...

Spearheaded by Hostel and the Saw franchise, the ‘torture porn’ sub-genre of horror (an unfair title perhaps) was not well-liked at the time despite some big money makers, and it’s not something film lovers have been desperately wanting a resurgence of. But Alive does very much feel like it would fit in that mold from the early 2000’s.
A severely injured man and woman wake up next to each other in an abandoned hospital. The remember very little about themselves or each other but do have ‘flashbacks’ that attempt to jog their memory. They soon discover who is keeping them locked up when the caretaker/doctor appears and is their only hope to find out who they are and help with any chance of escaping.

After the sharp-witted pleasures of last year's Harpoon, hopes were high for director Rob Grant's next feature. It's a real disappointment, then, to see Alive, a film which spends an hour and a half going nowhere in particular just to embarrass itself with a pay-off that is predictable, underwhelming and fudged in the delivery. Whether or not it works for you may depend in part on your reaction to Angus Macfadyen's mannered performance as the caretaker of a mysterious medical institution, which some people seem to find creepy and others just twee, but even if he makes a favourable impression, the film has precious little else to offer.
Its premise is this: a man and a woman (Thomas Cocquerel and Camille Stopps) wake up in the aforementioned institution with only the vaguest memories of who they are. Both show signs of having been severely injured. Macfadyen's character, the only other.

Two years after series Xii aired on Dave back in October 2017, confirmation arrived that Red Dwarf was coming back to TV, but not (yet) in the form of a full series Xiii. Instead, the boys from the Dwarf were returning for a feature-length special.
Craig Charles, Chris Barrie, Danny John-Jules, Robert Llewellyn and Norman Lovett will all appear in ‘The Promised Land’, a 90-minute episode due to air this April on Dave.
Regrettably, the London press screening and cast Q&a for ‘The Promised Land’ had to be cancelled due to the global spread of Covid-19, but here’s all the latest about the new episode, including a teaser trailer and the beautiful new poster.

Food and water run out, with dry land nowhere to be seen. After a theatrical run and release on Digital platforms, in Canada, Harpoon will show again in early February. Harpoon was developed by director Rob Grant. Grant has spoken on the film a number of times. He says of the film's influence: "Harpoon came out of a desperate and angry feeling I was going through at the time. I also felt I had more to say about the nature of friendship, especially toxic friendship, and that’s where it all balloons from (Villain Media)." Almost everyone has...

Rob Grant's killer horror flick Harpoon is getting quite the luxery treatment for its Canadian Bluray and DVD release next month. When maladjusted Jonah (Munro Chambers) is attacked by his hot-headed best friend Richard (Christopher Gray) - who believes Jonah and his long-term girlfriend Sasha (Emily Tyra) are sleeping together - the caustic bond between the three friends is quickly called into question. Once Jonah and Sasha convince Richard that the allegations are false, Richard apologizes by taking them on a pleasure cruise on his fancy new yacht. After an accident renders the boat inoperable, Richard soon discovers that the affair was in fact, real. As more dark secrets and sexual tensions emerge, and with their rations of food and water starting to quickly...

It’s that time again. Another year has come to an end and while 2019 was an odd one for horror as far as mainstream titles go, with many household baddies ending up leaving less of a mark than so many awesome indies (in my opinion), there was still a lot to like over the last twelve months.
Indeed, 2019 was a reminder of the tremendous diversity found in the many horror subgenres that brought us cornucopia of terror. Take your pick, choose your fate and dive right in with us. And in case you missed our first 10 choices for top horror movies of 2019, you can check them out here.

January may be a light month in terms of quantity for genre home video giant Arrow Video, but they are more than making up for it with quality. A pair of horrific releases on Blu-ray are sure to hit the spot. Rob Grant's festival favorite blackest-of-the-black comedy, Harpoon makes landfall in the UK in a special edition that is to die for. Hitting shelves in both the North America and the UK is Spanish horror specialist Jose Ramon Larraz's late '80s slasher, Edge of the Axe, a film announced ages ago, just now getting its formal release date. Check out the details for both in the gallery below...

As aquatic horror further dominates 2019’s slate, Rob Grant’s Harpoon flashes sharpened fangs despite a lack of predatory creatures. Stars: Munro Chambers, Christopher Gray, Emily Tyra | Written and Directed by Rob Grant
When Richard’s girlfriend Sasha and best friend Jonah give him a spear gun for his birthday, he wants to try it out straight away. The three of them set out for a day trip on a boat, but suspicion and jealousy soon start to get the upper hand. When the boat’s engine fails with no supplies on board, a nerve-wracking struggle for survival ensues that spares nobody’s secrets – or blood.
Wealthy Richard (Christopher Gray) is prone to fits of violent anger, particularly when he believes his girlfriend Sasha (Emily Tyra) is cheating on him with his best friend Jonah (Munro Chambers) — who’s been having worse luck than even his Biblical namesake. Once they reassure him that his fears are unfounded, Richard invites Sasha and Jonah on an excursion aboard his yacht The Naughty Buoy to make amends.

Harpoon
One of the standout films at this year’s Fantasia, Rob Grant’s Harpoon has gone on to make a big impression on the festival circuit. It’s the story of three people stranded together on a boat, their longstanding friendship quickly giving way to treachery – but if you think that sounds like familiar stuff, it will surprise you. I caught up with Rob just before the film’s screening at Grimmfest in Manchester to ask him about the film and its succss.
The Grimmfest directors had taken an interest in his previous films, he says, but it was mainly due Arrow picking up Harpoon that it ended up joining the line-up. He’s in New York as we speak – the film has just premièred there – but is about to fly to Grimmfest, where he’s also looking forward to watching the Soska sisters’ new take on Rabid.

Prolific Canadian writer-director Rob Grant, who’s made five features and one documentary in the last decade, once again puts a limited setting and budget to resourceful use in “Harpoon.” This thriller about three none-too-loyal friends adrift on a yacht made a splash at Fantasia (after a lower-key Rotterdam premiere) with its genre-fan-friendly mix of grisly action and jaunty black comedy.
That balance was particularly successful in Grant’s 2012 “Mon Ami,” wherein two would-be kidnappers kept bungling their way to an ever-higher accidental body count. His latest is slicker but also more glibly mean-spirited, with characters it’s hard to care about and some twists that seem more contrived than clever — or credible. Nonetheless, . It opens in a few U.S. theaters Oct. 4, followed a few days later by Blu-ray and Tvod release.

Writer/director Rob Grant wastes zero time getting us in the right frame of mind with Brett Gelman’s perfectly sardonic voice narrating an auspiciously violent collision of three close friends caught in a lovers’ misunderstanding. Harpoon‘s first scene provides effect—a stranded yacht in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean with “Sos” duct taped to the deck—while the second supplies cause as Jonah (Munro Chambers) gets his face punched in by best friend Richard (Christopher Gray) with the latter’s long-term partner Sasha (Emily Tyra) imploring him to stop. Move those temperamental seeds of mistrust to a boat’s tight quarters and we can guess why the vessel will eventually find itself in distress. The question then becomes which, if any, of those passengers will be alive to accept help.
The misunderstanding: Richard thinks Jonah and Sasha are having an affair. It stems from texts found on...

When their yacht breaks down in isolated ocean waters, three "friends" find out just how much they really hate each other (and what they're capable of doing to each other) in Rob Grant's Harpoon. With the dark comedy coming out in select cinemas and on VOD this October from Dread, we caught up with co-writer/director Rob Grant to discuss assembling his game cast, finding a shooting location at the last minute, the challenges of filming on the water (especially in an area filled with curious kayakers), getting Brett Gelman involved as the movie's narrator, and exploring the "darker side of human behavior."

It’s a tale as old as time. Three friends go off on a beautiful yacht to help mend fences after two of them knock over an urn during a fistfight. You know, exactly the type of hijinks you and your friends get into on a typical Saturday. Well, in the case of the three young people in “Harpoon,” the fistfight is just the beginning of the issues.
As seen in the new trailer for the dark comedy/thriller, Jonah, Sasha, and Richard find themselves on a beautiful yacht in an attempt to help mend their broken friendship after the two men got into a violent altercation.

Rob Grant's latest thriller Harpoon is the latest entry into the fine collection of movies which take place in one location. In this case, we have a trio of friends on a yacht in the middle of the open ocean.
Richard (Christopher Gray), Jonah (Munro Chambers) and Sasha (Emily Tyra) are long-time friends with a ton of baggage. Richard is loaded and kind of a dick who is also generous to his friends. Sasha is a nurse and also Richard's long-time girlfriend while Jonah is a struggling with the fact that his parents were disappointed in him and because they died during a trip he bought for them; he also feels a little guilty.
Harpoon opens with an ugly fight that then turns into a day trip on Richard's yachts as a feeble attempt to make amends. The trio's day trip turn...
