NBC News’ Washington bureau announced a series of staff changes as Pete Williams departs next week as justice correspondent.
Williams, who has been covering the Justice Department and Supreme Court, announced in May that he would retire after almost 30 years at the network. His last day will be July 31.
Ken Dilanian will be promoted to justice and intelligence correspondent. He’s been with the network for six years and has broken stories on topics including the Trump-Ukraine impeachment hearings, and recently did an investigation of how the FBI missed warning signs of a school shooting.
Kelly O’Donnell, senior White House correspondent, will add to her duties coverage of the Supreme Court on an interim basis until a full-time correspondent is hired. She has been covering Washington since the Clinton administration. In 2016, she was the first to report that Hillary Clinton called Donald Trump to concede the presidential race.

Robert Hogan, a TV character actor who was a regular on Peyton Place for two seasons and recurred on The Wire and such other popular series as Law & Order and Alice, has died. He was 87. His family said he died May 27 of pneumonia complications at his home in coastal Maine.
Hogan amassed more than 150 credits during a six-decade career, guesting multiple times on such classic shows as Murder, She Wrote, Gunsmoke, The F.B.I., Barnaby Jones, 77 Sunset Strip, The Rockford Files and as Louis Sobotka in four Season 2 episodes of HBO’s The Wire. He also played Greg Stemple in a half-dozen Alice episodes during the early 1980s.
He also played the Rev. Tom Winter — whose affairs certainly were more than clerical — in more than 60 episodes of the New England-set 1960s romantic drama Peyton Place.

As the backlash against Maïmouna Doucouré’s “Cuties” continues to grow, actress Tessa Thompson and various film critics who have seen the coming-of-age drama are coming to its defense. Accusations that “Cuties” sexualizes pre-teen girls and encourages pedophilia erupted after Netflix debuted a poster for the film August 18 that featured young girls in skimpy dance outfits making suggestive, twerking-like poses.
Netflix issued an apology for its marketing of the film in an August 20 statement, saying, “We’re deeply sorry for the inappropriate artwork that we used for ‘Mignonnes’/’Cuties.’ It was not ok, nor was it representative of this French film which won an award at Sundance. We’ve now updated the pictures and description.”
But the Netflix apology hasn’t stopped the escalating outrage against the film. Parents Television Council president Tom Winter condemned the movie in a statement by saying “the only motivation” for producing such a film...

1967: Love is a Many Splendored Thing premiered on CBS. The network, which hadn't premiered a soap in seven years, enlisted Irna Phillips in adapting a serial very loosely from a famous novel and movie. Love is a Many Splendored Thing concerned the in-laws of the book's protagonist Mark Elliot, who intermarried with other surrounding families in San Francisco. A stylish and refreshing story, it was a fabulous stepping stone for David Birney, Donna Mills and Leslie Charleson, all beautiful and talented young performers.

Donald Trump has taken to Twitter (again) to seize on a mistake by NBC News.
The U.S. President slammed the Peacock network after it corrected its story, from yesterday, that wrongly stated that federal authorities had wiretapped his lawyer Michael Cohen.
The broadcaster quickly corrected the error, that Cohen’s phones were being monitored as part of a pen register rather than a wiretap. “The monitoring of Cohen’s phones was limited to a log of calls, known as a pen register, not a wiretap where investigators can actually listen to calls,” it added to the story.
However, the former host of The Apprentice, didn’t let that stop him from getting on his phone.
“NBC News is wrong again! They cite “sources” which are constantly wrong. Problem is, like so many others, the sources probably don’t exist, they are fabricated, fiction! NBC, my former home with the Apprentice,...

If there's one thing that author David Moody has proved over the last decade, it's that he has a knack for taking what might be otherwise tired concepts and scenarios and turning them on their head. Arguably England's premier architect of post-apocalyptic fiction, Moody has become recently concluded the second of two well received series of books, both of which have documented the end of the world as we know it, and both of which have earned their places as modern horror classics.

Miley Cyrus has been attacked over a raunchy new music video by a parents' organisation.
