Paolo Girón is a Guatemalan cinematographer that studied at the FUC Film University in Buenos Aires. His first works as a cinematographer included several internationally acclaimed short films screened at Semaine de la Critic Cannes, Kodak Film School Competition, BAFICI and Mar del Plata Film Festival.
He has also been a cinematographer of internationally awarded feature films such as José, directed by Li Cheng, selected in Venice days at the 75th Venice International Film Festival, where it was awarded the Queer Lion 2018, and which was also awarded the Special Jury Prize at both the Bratislava International Film Festival and the 3 Continents Festival. Girón was also the cinematographer of Gunpowder, directed by Camila Urrutia, which premiered at SXSW in 2020 and won the Silver Colon award in the official selection of the Ibero-American Film Festival of Huelva. Other titles in which he served as cinematographer are The Last Land, by Pablo Lamar, special mention of the Tiger Award at the Rotterdam International Film Festival 2016; Snapshot, by Catalina Arango; The Parrot and the Swan, by Alejo Moguillanski, special mention at BAFICI 2013; and My Name is Now, a biographical documentary about iconic Brazilian singer Elza Soares.
