A review of this week’s Atlanta, “Trini 2 De Bone,” coming up just as soon as I try to climb into the coffin with you…
“Trini 2 De Bone” offers another anthological break from Paper Boi’s European tour. Our locale this time is New York, where Miles (Justin Hagan) and Bronwyn (Christina Bennett Lind) live in a fancy penthouse apartment with their son Sebastian (Indy Sullivan Groudis). At first, the episode seems to have the trappings of yet another horror story like the season premiere: Sebastian seems a bit distant and too eerily composed,...

Amazon has cancelled Z: The Beginning Of Everything, starring Christina Ricci, after the series had previously been greenlit for a season 2.
The initial renewal was a bit of surprise, given the lack of buzz around the first season of the Zelda Fitzgerald series, but it's even more of a surprise when considering that the Z writers' room had already started meeting for season 2 and, according to The Hollywood Reporter, a reported $7 million had already been spent on a second season.
As the THR article notes, the renewal came shortly after the publishing of a Vox article on the apparent "sexist loophole" in Amazon Studios straight-to-series practices, while the subsequent cancellation comes in the wake of Amazon's rumoured decision to scale back its spending on original series heading into...

A slight, delicate flower, Phoenix has planted himself in the middle of nowhere. Also known as the Mojave Desert in California, this particular "nowhere" is quiet, spacious, and sparsely populated. And that's just how Phoenix, portrayed with somber gravity by Tom Sizemore, likes it. He has a daily routine to pass the time, which he follows religiously, shying away from anyone he encounters. Phoenix's routine includes prescribed medication, and a fastidious fascination with his mail. Adding those elements to his anxious avoidance of outside contact, as well as his apparent lack of employment, it's easy enough to deduce that he's up to something criminal, though he obviously has qualms about it. When a new mail carrier named Ariel (Christina Bennett Lind) arrives, there is a...

There’s a problem with the first season of “Z: The Beginning of Everything” that is reminiscent of, of all the unexpected things in this world, “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.” (Please, give this a chance.)
“Batman v. Superman” is a notable film for how, scene by scene, it is a movie that actively dislikes its characters — from little touches to big choices, its only source of joy seems to be found in tearing down beloved icons into unrecognizable shells of themselves.
“Z” does not have that problem. In fact, it has the opposite dilemma. The Amazon Prime series, created by Nicole Yorkin and Dawn Prestwich, is just a little bit too in love with its leading lady. And while “Bvsdoj’s” antipathy towards its leads sucked all the joy out of the picture, “Z’s” infatuation with Zelda Fitzgerald detracts from its depiction of one of literature’s most fascinating and complicated women.

Sadly, the last time we saw Marissa and Bianca may be the last time we'll ever see our beloved Minx.
ABC Soaps In Depth reported late Thursday that Prospect Park has halted plans to take All My Children online — at least for the near future. The production company instead has decided to focus its resources on the web version of One Life to Live. In light of recent word that the company was having trouble finding financial backing for the venture, the news isn't surprising. But that doesn't make it any less sad for AMC fans.
Prospect Park acquired the rights to both ABC soaps last summer and planned to continue the cancelled series on a new Internet channel, The Online Network. But taking an established show to the Web proved to be an expensive proposition — more so than online advertising can support. Concentrating on a single show cuts the production budget in half and,...

Friday is a day that All My Children fans are dreading: The end of daytime as we know it. Tomorrow, after 41 years, the ABC run of the classic soap is over.
We may have a recap or two left, depending on what happens with Bianca and Marissa on the last two episodes, but we want to take the opportunity to thank the show for what it did – or at least tried to do – for les/bi women.
Bianca Montgomery is All My Children's best-known lesbian, but she wasn't the first. In 1983, psychiatrist Dr. Lynn Carson (Donna Pescow) revealed her sexual orientation — and became the first Lgbt person on an American soap.
Lynn wasn’t a main character and had no love interests that we saw, but her brief storyline was historic nonetheless.
The longest running storyline, featuring our beloved Binx, started in 2000 when Eden Riegel took the role of Bianca,...

All My Children's les/bi fans are a passionate lot, especially when Bianca is the subject. Many of us have followed our beloved Binx for years, through love and loss and too much heartbreak. Our one wish, when we learned that AMC had been cancelled, was that Bianca would find happiness.
If Christina Bennett Lind (Bianca) and Sarah Glendening (Marissa) get their way, that's exactly what will happen. The actresses are Minx fans themselves – and very proud of the storyline.
AfterEllen.com caught up with Christina and Sarah between takes earlier this week, to find out more about the people behind the story and their thoughts on Bianca and Marissa.
AfterEllen.com: Thanks so much for spending your break with us! Did you film any scenes together today?
Christina Bennett Lind: Not yet – but we do have some this afternoon.
Ae: Do you sense the show winding down?...
