Chennai, Jan 29 (Ians) A second place finish in the third race helped Salem’s Sai Sanjay pocket the title in the premier Mrf Formula 2000 category, on a day of twists and turns, as the Indian National Car Racing Championship 2022 concluded at the Madras International Circuit here on Sunday.
While Sai Sanjay gathered enough points this weekend in the three races to seal the championship, Bengaluru’s Sohil Shah, winner of Race-1 on Saturday, won both races on Sunday to complete a triple crown. The 21-year-old Sohil, who missed two of the four rounds, finished fourth in the championship behind Sai Sanjay, Ryan Mohamed (Chennai) and Divy Nandan (Gurugram).

After the industry lost Sourabh Usha Narang, Pankaj Advani and Maneesh Acharya, there has been another tragedy. Sohil Shah, Anurag Kashyap.s chief Assistant Director on Gangs Of Wasseypur died in a freak accident during the shoot of the film in Banaras yesterday.The young filmmaker from Bombay had worked on Prince, Lafangey Parindey and a TV series Amazing Race.A source from the crew confirms, .Yes the unfortunate incident happened early this morning. The entire unit is in shock; we are trying to fly his family to Banaras..The crewmember continues, .We were filming a simple routine sunrise shot. A jeep was also shown in the frame, which Sohil was driving. Though production people gave him a driver he chose to drive it himself.
