Producer Mark Burnett expected a hit when he sent 16 contestants and a then-unknown 38-year-old host named Jeff Probst to the Borneo island of Malaysia for an adaptation of the Swedish competition show Expedition Robinson. What he got instead was a cultural phenomenon. Survivor instantly became a ratings juggernaut, and viewership for the first season finale reached north of 50 million. Reality TV existed before Survivor, but the show’s low overhead and potential for mass appeal single-handedly ushered in the reality-competition boom.
In the 24 years since it hit airwaves, Survivor has morphed from a “social experiment” into television’s most complex and grueling competition, with players practically raised on the show elevating it to new heights of strategy. Its motto—“Outwit. Outplay. Outlast.”—speaks to the complex permutations of physical strength, mental acumen, and social skills that can produce winners as diverse as season 30’s Mike Holloway, who got himself to...

Survivor 50 rumors have already begun, thanks to Jeff Probst’s huge announcement.
A Survivor winner has also already teased his involvement and the inclusion of three additional former winners.
In case anyone hasn’t heard, Jeff helped host a new Survivor FYC event in California. It allowed fans to hear more about the show, play games based on challenges from Survivor, and spend time with other people who love the reality competition show.
Future seasons became a topic of conversation when Jeff was talking to the crowd. That’s when he started dropping teasers about what’s to come.
Survivor 46 episodes are still arriving this May on CBS, so several more seasons must debut before the show’s milestone 50th season.
Jeff Probst revealed Survivor 50 will feature returners, which got the crowd buzzing. That was also the case when a Survivor legend teased they were returning.

“Survivor 46” contestant David Jelinsky hopes that his competitors get the wrong first impression of him going into the game. The 22 year old slot machine salesman from Las Vegas compares himself to winner Tyson Apostol because they are both “very humorous, witty, but devious.” Watch their full CBS preview interview above.
David says that he expects the other castaways see him as “someone who wants to smoke a doobie on the beach,” not as the “super analytical, super intelligent” person he sees himself as. He goes on to refer to himself as “very devious,” so we should fully anticipate him to enter his villain era at some point on the island.

Over the years, a few Survivor contestants have captivated the imaginations of fans around the world. Not only has Wentworth been open about her own experience with the show, but she has talked about longtime Survivor host Jeff Probst as well – and in a recent podcast conversation with Tyson Apostol, Wentworth discussed how Probst will “freak out” if something isn’t going exactly according to plan.

In the world of reality television, no show looms larger than Survivor. The series has become a cultural touchstone and is still going strong in its 44th season. Over the years, a mythology has emerged around Survivor, with fans eager to discuss the show, its contestants, and the many challenges. Season 38 contestant Kelley Wentworth recently discussed one challenge and why longtime host Jeff Probst stepped in to stop it.
Kelley Wentworth appeared in ‘Survivor’ Season 38
Wentworth is a Survivor alum who has appeared in multiple seasons of the hit reality TV series, starting with Survivor: San Juan del Sur. Although she immediately showed strong survival and team-building skills, things began to go downhill for Wentworth when she was sent to the rival Coyopa tribe to be with her father. With over 43 seasons of Survivor, it’s difficult to choose which ones stand out the most. There have been numerous entertaining seasons full of impressive gameplay, dynamic casts, and shocking Tribal Councils that have left us with our jaws on the floor. But we’ve narrowed the list of all-time great seasons to five must-sees for any Survivor fan.
Jeff Probst | Photo: Robert Voets/CBS 5. ‘Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X’
Including Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X on our list of the top five Survivor seasons might be a controversial pick, but we wholeheartedly stand by it.
Adam Klein is one of the most underrated winners (aside from Vecepia Towery). After all, he is one of five castaways to win the show unanimously, and he played a smart (yet chaotic at times) strategic and social game. Plus, Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X introduced us to multiple memorable players, including Zeke Smith,...

Survivor champ and The Challenge: USA winner Sarah Lacina called out Tony Vlachos for his real job as a police officer, eventually leading to one of the most successful alliances in franchise history, Cops-R-Us. During a recent interview, the Game Changers winner admitted production played a role in helping her discover Tony’s true identity.
Sarah Lacina reveals how producers helped her identify Tony Vlachos as a cop
Speaking to podcast Challenge Mania during a February 2023 appearance, Iowa-based investigator Sarah Lacina noticed Tony Vlachos during casting and felt he looked, dressed, and walked like a cop.
Additionally, Sarah recalled him repeatedly getting brought up in her interviews and realized producers “lit up” when she identified him as a police officer, clueing her in. When asked about using production as an edge in the game, the Iowa native noted she used her Cagayan experience with them to help her game in subsequent seasons.

Looking for another fix of “Survivor” after season 43 wrapped up on December 14, 2022? We are too and wondered is “Survivor” on Netflix? We did some digging and it turns out that the long-running reality competition TV show hosted by Jeff Probst is available on the streaming service.
But be warned: there is only season of “Survivor” on Netflix. It is the 18th edition, which was subtitled “Tocantins – The Brazilian Highlands.” The 14 episodes of “Survivor 18” aired on CBS from February 12, 2009 to May 17, 2009. Season 18 of “Survivor” saw 16 players pitted against each other. The cast was initially split into two tribes — Jalapao and Timbira — before merging into one, Forza, in episode eight.
Among those contending for the title of Sole Survivor were R&b singer Tamara Johnson-George and beauty queen Candace Smith. While neither of them returned to the “Survivor” franchise in later seasons, four of their castmates did. Stephen Fishbach made a return...

In The Challenge: USA, viewers saw multiple competitors struggle to advance through the various checkpoints in host Tj Lavin’s final in Patagonia.
Several individuals were out due to injuries or a teammate quitting, which are events they didn’t have much control over.
However, multiple competitors quit by their own decision, including one of the spinoff season’s favorites to win, Tyson Apostol.
The Survivor star outdid the competition through various daily challenges, had a strong alliance, and made strategic game moves all season to stay away from eliminations. However, the game’s top player was defeated by a numbers puzzle when it came to the final.

After more than half of “The Challenge: USA” competitors quit during the season finale, cast members began complaining about inconsistencies in the rules.
Tyson Apostol, who dominated all season long, ultimately ended up dropping after he couldn’t finish a Sudoku puzzle. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, he said that while Sarah Lacina was able to time out of the first puzzle, production didn’t allow him to time out.
“I don’t know if she timed out of Sudoku, nobody was there to see her do it and they didn’t show her doing it on camera,” he said. Lacina, along with Danny McCray, went on to win the season — and were the only two who actually finished the Sodoku and scaled the mountain.

Devin Walker has called out several of The Challenge: USA stars after watching how things went for the cast members competing in the CBS spinoff show’s final.
The show recently aired its two-hour grand finale on CBS and featured a final that some fans might consider comparable to the MTV show’s finals.
However, CBS’ version featured a variety of circumstances that happened before and during the final that viewers and spinoff cast members have criticized.
Several things caused issues for the competitors, putting them at a disadvantage or costing them a chance to continue competing. In addition, post-season exit interview comments from some finalists have indicated production wasn’t correctly explaining rules along the way.
That said, Devin isn’t listening to any excuses, as he even called out one of the finalists by name,...

Wes Bergmann recently explained that The Challenge is more difficult than Survivor. Pic credit: MTV’s The Challenge/YouTube
Since CBS’ The Challenge: USA arrived as a spinoff of MTV’s competition show, debates have started about the show’s difficulty compared to other reality TV competition shows.
A hot take arrived last week courtesy of former Survivor winner Tyson Apostol, saying his daughter asked whether Survivor or The Challenge was harder, and he told her it was the CBS show.
While he wasn’t necessarily responding to Tyson’s comments, Wes Bergmann has some thoughts about that, providing his hot take while talking with his friend and castmate, Devin Walker.
Wes, a two-time Challenge winner and recent All Stars 3 champion, appeared as a guest on the debut of Devin’s new podcast with Vegas Insider called Bet on Devin.

Survivor star Tyson Apostol is among the featured competitors in CBS’ show, The Challenge: USA, which also includes players from Big Brother, Amazing Race, and Love Island.
The show is a spinoff of MTV’s The Challenge, which puts different reality television stars against one another in a game of wits, strategy, political and social moves, and of course, intense physical competition.
Throughout the first several episodes of CBS’ version, Tyson established himself as a favorite to win the spinoff show, winning several daily challenges and qualifying for the final early.
He also developed strong allies in the game to keep himself safe from elimination if he didn’t win future daily events.

David Alexander during a promotional video for The Challenge: USA. Pic credit: MTV’s The Challenge/YouTube
Big Brother was one of four CBS reality TV shows that brought cast members to The Challenge: USA, a spinoff of MTV’s popular competition show.
Among those Big Brother stars was David Alexander, who originally appeared in Season 21 of the CBS show, then returned for Season 22, aka All Stars.
David didn’t have the best showing during his original reality TV show, becoming the first player evicted in Bb 21. He fared slightly better in Bb 22, as the ninth player evicted and got onto the All Stars jury.
However, his appearance as an underdog who defied the odds on The Challenge: USA may have boosted his status in the reality TV world.
He recently opened up about how he’s been training hard to appear on The Challenge again, with three potential shows he could go on.

The Challenge: USA brought out another classic elimination for the penultimate episode of the season: Balls In. And by the end of it, both players — Big Brother‘s David Alexander and Enzo Palumbo were exhausted. Yes, the friends faced off, despite Alexander, who lost the daily, trying to appeal to the daily’s winners Big Brother‘s Angela Rummans and Survivor‘s Ben Driebergen to send in Survivor‘s Tyson Apostol or Domenick Abbate. And in the end, it was Alexander who was eliminated. Alexander opens up about that elimination, why he wants to do another season, and more. There seemed to be a real division in the house, with you and Enzo separate from the others. How were you feeling about your standing? David Alexander: I didn’t feel that huge alliance. I know that Alyssa wasn’t as strong with me because I sent Derek home. She was really,...

One of the favorites from the start has been former Survivor winner Tyson Apostol, although he’s yet to face elimination or the prospect of competing in one at The Arena.

The key to winning “The Challenge: USA” is to prevail in the Final Challenge, but in order to qualify for that, contestants must first accumulate at least 5,000 throughout the season. At the start of CBS’s reality TV show, each person was given 1,000 in their banks. There are two ways to earn additional funds: win a daily challenge or survive the elimination arena (which lets them steal the losers’ banks).
Most players have already scored the required amount of moolah to get them to the Final Challenge. Below, we give you an update on “The Challenge: USA” money won after eight episodes.

After footage recapped the previous episode’s elimination, The Challenge: USA, Episode 8 opened with host Tj Lavin telling the cast it was time to stop using The Algorithm to determine teams.
Instead, Tj said it’s now an “individual game” from now on, with no more teammates for each daily challenge. Tj told everyone to get out of The Arena.
There are just 14 competitors left: Alyssa Lopez, Justine Ndiba, Cashay Proudfoot, Angela Rummans, Cayla Platt, Sarah Lacina, Desi Williams, Ben Driebergen, Tyson Apostol, Danny McCray, Leo Temory, David Alexander, Domenick Abbate, and Enzo Palumbo.
Ben and Danny talked about having each other’s back, possibly forming a secret alliance that also had Sarah in it. Ben said he won all the time on Survivor and expected to do the same on this show, but it hasn’t happened so far.

The Challenge: USA continues to move full speed ahead towards Tj Lavin’s final, where the winners will receive their share of significant prize money.
While the particulars for the final are still unknown, it’s become clear that CBS has given The Challenge spinoff a much larger audience than MTV’s show.
Based on ratings reports, the show has many more people watching when new episodes arrive each week compared to the main show on MTV.
Episode 7 brought several exciting storylines, including a cast member ready to leave the show due to issues back home and a pair of in-game rivals forced to work together as teammates.
It also brought another close elimination matchup, with two more winners having to exit the show, as two other cast members survived for another week.

In The Challenge: USA, Episode 7, teams will clash in a physical daily challenge for the first time of the season. However, they’ll do some from within some hard-hitting vehicles rather than their bodies.
The latest event will feature Challenge bumper cars as teammates will ride inside the vehicle and navigate a dirt course. Like many other challenges, a twist makes things unique and more difficult.
For this particular daily, the teammate driving the car will be unable to see anything as they’ll have a helmet featuring a blacked-out visor on front.
Their partner will be frantically trying to guide them by shouting out instructions as their teammate does their best to drive while blind.
Based on the sneak peek footage, host Tj Lavin is getting a kick out of this...

Each episode of The Challenge: USA has featured an elimination event to close out the episode, with one team getting sent home for the season, ending their chances at winning big prize money and a spot in a world tournament.
One team automatically goes into the elimination after finishing last amongst all teams in the daily challenge. However, their opponents get selected by the team that won the daily challenge.
That often brings some difficult decisions, with castmates rubbing others the wrong way with their choices for who to send in.
In Episode 6, the team selected for elimination had a chance to save themselves from competing at The Arena, thanks to a pair of castmates willing to volunteer to take their places.
However, the original team ultimately participated...

While MTV’s The Challenge and Paramount Plus’ The Challenge: All Stars have seen some intense moments, viewers watching the CBS spinoff of the competition show hadn’t quite seen anything too dramatic within the first four episodes.
However, that changed when Episode 5 arrived, and castmates who thought they had trustworthy allies realized that wasn’t necessarily the case.
According to several of The Challenge: USA cast members, the situation became so intense with castmates following one elimination that security needed to stay over to ensure everyone was safe.
The footage didn’t show that during the episode, but it may be why things didn’t get too intense between cast members in the compound.
The latest revelation arrived as part of an exit interview, with several eliminated competitors spilling the tea on alliances, including the Survivor group,...

Derek Xiao and Alyssa Lopez met last summer in the “Big Brother” house, where they were both betrayed by the dominating Cookout alliance. The BFFs were later cast on “The Challenge: USA,” where they vowed to stick together and have each other’s backs throughout the grueling CBS competition. Unfortunately, Derek was eliminated in the sixth episode (alongside his teammate Shannon St. Clair from “Love Island”) when they lost the physical competition to Enzo Palumbo and Justine Ndiba.
The winners of the main challenge were Desiree “Desi” Williams and David Alexander, and they decided to nominate Derek and Shannon for elimination because Shannon had hurt her leg earlier in the episode. Derek and Shannon gave it their all in the final challenge, even getting a head start thanks to their backwards-spelling abilities. However, their stacks of tires kept falling over, which led to a victory for Enzo and Justine.
