I’m not going to lie, the Axeman franchise is starting to get a bit confusing… the original film was released in 2013 and a sequel arrived a few years later under the title Axeman 2: Overkill. Then in 2020 the original film was recut and re-edited, making it – as filmmaker Joston Theney stated – a more straightforward horror with a leaner edit, new footage and new music. Originally set to be released under the title Axeman: Redux, instead it was released as Axemen at Cutter’s Creek.
Now comes Axeman at Cutter’s Creek 2 which, if you believe IMDb is a sequel to Axeman 2 and Not Axemen at Cutter’s Creek – though the press materials claims otherwise, stating...

"We won't stop until the threat has been eliminated. You... are all the threat." Level 33 Ent. has released an official trailer for a gnarly conspiracy horror-thriller film titled Behemoth, marking the feature directorial debut of digital artist Peter Szewczyk. He has worked for years in Hollywood in the VFX industry in various positions, from artist to supervisor and so on. Now he is making his own films. Behemoth is "an ambitious independent feature packed with monsters and demons unlike anything seen on its budget level." A father will risk anything, even his soul, to save his terminally ill daughter from a disease coming from a chemical company he used to work for. The cast includes Josh Eisenberg, Paul Statman, Jennifer Churchich, Richard Wagner, and Whitney Nielsen. This reminds me of the cult hit Psycho Goreman - solid indie filmmaking with some incredible FX work on all the creatures in it.

Michael Briskett (Steven Hubbell) awakens in a dark room with plastic sheets covered in blood hung behind him. It’s imagery you’ve seen countless times in horror films—butcher accoutrement readied for torture porn carnage. But writer/director Ryan Nelson (alongside Beth Levy Nelson as co-writer) is only giving us a tease of what’s to come before rewinding two days to show the unfortunate circumstances that led poor Michael to an unknown basement decorated for Christmas. First we have to meet his douchebag boss Andy Robillard (Cole Gleason) as he assigns an impossible task during the holiday season. Then it’s the office’s latest hire Cindy (Casey O’Keefe), too perky and idealistic for the soul-crushing grind cubicle life provides. The former risks ruining Michael’s yuletide buzz, the latter saving it.
Mercy Christmas initially appears as though it will be full of saccharine hokum with nice...

Director: Jourdan McClure. Writer: Ryan Finnerty and Jourdan McClure. Cast: Bill Oberst Jr., Hannah Levien, Whitney Nielsen, Nich Kauffman and Galen Howard. Children of Sorrow is an indie film from Rogue River (2009) creators Ryan Finnerty and Jourdan McClure. The film's story focuses on an isolated cult in the desert. Here, one man brings twelve followers on a journey to hell; few survive the trip. Children of Sorrow also focuses on one villainous character, while more heroic characters are simply forgotten. Light on conflict but full of disturbing and awkward scenes, Children of Sorrow is a harrowing tale set in the depths of madness. The story is centered on one man - Simon Leach (Bill Oberst Jr.). This character calls himself the Father, but this is not one man you would want in your family life. The Father recruits several impressionable twentysomethings. Once interviewed and indoctrinated, the followers are slowly brought...

Every horror fan has their own idea of what’s authentically frightening, but for me personally, successful horror goes straight for the kill by getting to the root of what scares us on a primal, inherently human level. It touches nerves and stirs fears that live deep inside all of us. We’re unsettled, disturbed, and maybe even provoked as a result. Children of Sorrow is the type of film that successfully does all this and more by drawing us into the lives of some truly fascinating characters.
The film introduces us to cult leader Simon Leach (Bill Oberst Jr.) and a group of desperate teens he has assembled together in a Mexico desert compound to help him realize his personal vision of faith and spiritual growth. The latest member of the group is Ellen (Hannah Levien), a young woman searching for her sister who...
