Jakub Piątek’s ’Prime Time; won the Screen International Best Pitch award
Jakub Piątek’s feature debut Prime Time was the winner of the second annual Screen International Best Pitch award presented as part of this week’s Polish Film Days which ran as a virtual event from July 27-29.
Prime Time is based on the true story of a hostage-taking in a TV studio in front of live cameras. The screenplay is written by Piątek and Lukasz Czapski and was developed at Torino Film Lab Extended and New Horizons Studio+ last year.

Director-producer Brett Ratner will head the competition jury of this year’s Beijing International Film Festival (Bjiff), which runs April 16-23.
Ratner will preside over the jury for the festival’s Tiantan Awards, along with German director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, Bosnian filmmaker Danis Tanovic, Romania’s Corneliu Porumboiu, Japanese filmmaker Yojiro Takita, Hong Kong director Teddy Chen and Chinese actress Xu Qing.
Films selected for the Tiantan Awards include Spanish titles A Perfect Day and Tiempo Sin Aire, Canada’s Grand Unified Theory, Russia’s I Am A Teacher, Polish director Piotr Chrzan’s Klezmer, Danish director Martin Zandvliet’s Land Of Mine and Chinese titles The Master and Go Away, Mr Tumor.
Ratner was an executive producer on Oscar-winning movie The Revenant, which has grossed $55.55m in China after 17 days.

The International Film Festival of India (Iffi) today announced a stellar lineup of International Competition, Indian Panorama films and Juries for its 46th edition to be held in Goa from November 20 to 30 2015. The film festival will showcase 187 films from 89 countries in World Cinema section along with 26 Feature and 21 Non-Feature films in Indian Panorama section.

Venice Days (Sept 2-12) has rounded out its programme with Julie Delpy’s Lolo, bringing the number of titles in competition at the independently run section of the Venice Film Festival to 11.
The world premiere of the film, which will go on to screen at Toronto, has been secured by Venice Days following an agreement with international distributor Wild Bunch.
Delpy, star of Richard Linklater’s Before… trilogy, has written and directed Lolo and will co-star alongside Dany Boon, Vincent Lacoste and Karin Viard.
The satirical comedy centres on fortysomething workaholic Violette (Delpy), who finds romance while on a spa vacation. But once back home, the pair have to deal with Lolo, Violette’s brainy, tyrannical son, who has no intention of relinquishing his own control over the family, and the emotions of his mother.
Delpy’s previous features as director include 2 Days in New York (2012), Skylab (2011), The Countess (2009) and...
