Kirk is the sixth generation of his family born in Florida, in which, Alderman's Ford Park (Lithia, Florida) is named in honor of his great great grandfather (James Alderman).
Kirk lettered in football and track and field in high school.
His first acting role was portraying Joseph in play The Story of Baby Jesus.
His maternal great grandfather (Jose Escalante) started one of the first cigar factories in Palmetto Beach (a suburb of Tampa, FL).
His father (Charles Alderman) is a retired Captain from the Tampa Fire Department and was a Deputy Sheriff with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. His paternal grandfather (Robert Alderman) is a retired police officer from the Tampa Police Department.
Is a member of the Zeta Pi Chapter of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity and graduated from the University of South Florida.
Kirk is the nephew of movie producer Dale de la Torre of films The Sandlot, John Q, Radio Flyer, First Kid and Journey to the Center of the Earth.
