Law & Order Svu was very good to its stars Chris Meloni and Mariska Hargitay. It not only gave them both the careers they enjoy now, but they were also recognized for some of television’s most coveted accolades. Although they’ve both received Emmy nominations, Hargitay was considered for the prize before Meloni. Which made things a little awkward for Meloni on the Svu set.

Hargitay received her first of many Emmy nominations for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in 2004. Since then, she has received eight nominations for her contributions to the show. She even won the Emmy in 2006. This was a big year for Svu, as Meloni received his first nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series at the time.

Weakest Link –Pictured: Jane Lynch — (Photo by: Chris Haston/NBC) Before conquering Hollywood, Jane Lynch spent her early career in Chicago, where she spent time at The Second City and Annoyance Theater, two institutions well known for their emphasis on improvisation. Lynch’s improv abilities have served her well, especially when she was cast in several of Christopher Guest’s largely improvised mockumentaries, and they continue to help her in her latest endeavor: hosting NBC’s new version of Weakest Link. Game show hosts thrive on being able to react to things on the fly, and Lynch, who previously hosted Hollywood Game Night, says that running a game show is a skill that seems to come naturally to her. Andre Braugher, the two-time Emmy winner who died this week at the age of 61, was an unknown when the hardboiled NBC detective drama “Homicide: Life on the Street” debuted in the coveted post-Super Bowl time slot on Jan. 31, 1993. He left the series six years later as an in-demand leading man who went on to star in TV series include FX’s “Thief,” TNT’s “Men of a Certain Age,” Fox/NBC’s “Brooklyn Nine Nine,” in addition to many other prominent roles.
But it started with his years on “Homicide.” Braugher played Detective Frank Pembleton, one of the most unforgettable characters that television has ever produced, thanks to the brilliance of executive producers Tom Fontana, Barry Levinson and Jim Finnerty and a murderers row of a writers room. The stellar supporting cast alongside included Ned Beatty, Melissa Leo and Yaphet Kotto.

The 1993 “Frasier” pilot and the first episode of the 2023 Paramount+ revival have a lot in common. With the respective titles “The Good Son” and “The Good Father,” both episodes follow Kelsey Grammer’s Frasier Crane as he moves to a new city, makes a massive career change, and moves in with a family member with whom he has a chilly relationship. Television legend James Burrows even returned to direct the first episode of the reboot, providing another link to the show’s storied past.

From “Cheers” to “Frasier,” Kelsey Grammer’s Frasier Crane was a mainstay of comedy TV for 20 years, from the ’80s to the early-aughts. Now, after an equal amount of time off the air, Grammer is back in the role for Paramount+’s “Frasier.”
The streaming series is a revival-meets-reboot that once again spins off Grammer’s character with a new cast of colorful characters. Some original “Frasier” stars will return to guest star. However, David Hyde Pierce won’t return as Niles and John Mahoney, who played their father Martin, passed away in 2018.
That means Frasier – along with “Frasier” fans – will be surrounded by new faces. With that in mind, here’s a handy guide to the new “Frasier” cast and characters, including where you might have the actors before.

Matthew Perry’s death on Oct. 28 has sent fans into mourning. It has also led many to revisit some of Perry’s greatest work, including his breakout role in Friends and the movie roles that came after it. His contribution to Friends was immense. The actor clearly took the character of Chandler Bing and made it his own. His acting helped elevate the ensemble cast. Still, Perry’s contributions to the series were far more varied than you might think. In fact, he is the reason Bruce Willis agreed to appear on Friends. Perry is also the reason Willis opted to donate his entire paycheck from his three-episode story arc on the series.
Why did Bruce Willis appear on ‘Friends’?

L-r: Kelsey Grammer as Frasier Crane and Patrick Rafferty as Gilby in Frasier, streaming on Paramount+, 2023. Photo credit: Chris Haston/Paramount+ It’s been nearly two decades since we saw Frasier Crane leaving Seattle for good as Frasier ended its 11-year run. But with a rebooted version of the show now streaming, it barely seems like he’s been away at all. From the very beginning of the new reboot, that old familiarity is rekindled … and why not? After all, between Frasier and Cheers, audiences have already spent 20 years with the character. For Kelsey Grammer, returning to the character again was like the proverbial getting back on a bicycle, and he spoke about (Before the SAG/AFTRA Strike) about how Frasier may be older now, but he’s fundamentally the same person he’s always been. Warning: This story contains spoilers for the Frasier revival on Paramount+
In 2004, “Frasier” bid farewell to audiences. But that didn’t stop Joe Cristalli (“Life in Pieces”) from pursuing a dream of writing for the NBC sitcom.
“I started a Twitter feed [called Frasier for Hire] that was all about getting a job to write on Frasier, which is obviously insane because the show had been off the air for 10 years,” Cristalli, who is now the co-creator, co-executive producer and co-showrunner for Paramount+’s revival, told TheWrap. “But I basically was just doing Frasier jokes, kind of like the Modern Seinfeld guy, just these are dialogue snippets of what would be on the show now. And I did that to no acclaim for like three years. I think I got somewhere in the ballpark of 2,000 followers.”
A door opened when star Kelsey Grammer revealed publicly that he was interested in doing a reboot of the show.

Joe Cristalli and Chris Harris, the showrunners behind Paramount+’s “Frasier” revival, have been bracing for how audiences react to the return of the beloved sitcom character. But they weren’t expecting the buzz to be about Frasier Crane’s wardrobe.
When Paramount+ revealed the key art for the new “Frasier,” which premieres Oct. 12, fans were up in arms … because the character was wearing jeans and Allbirds sneakers. Sure, the dressed-down look might be out of step for the Frasier Crane we knew on “Cheers” or the original “Frasier.” But this is “Frasier” 3.0.
“We love that people care,” Harris says. “It’s partly the times and it is also a little bit about how the character is more comfortable with who he is and where he is in life.” Adds Cristalli: “He’s not going to wear Armani suits anymore. It’s 2023. This is what fancy rich guys wear now — they wear comfortable clothes!

“30 years ago, I left Boston with my tail between my legs. I had dreams of returning, triumphant. Now, those dreams just keep slipping farther and farther away.”
Paramount+’s “Frasier” reboot is psychiatrist Frasier Crane’s (Kelsey Grammer) latest reinvention. He first reinvented himself when he left Boston for his hometown of Seattle (spinning off from “Cheers” to his own original series). Then he did it again when he left Seattle for Chicago to be with the woman he loved, in the series finale of “Frasier.” 19 years after the original series ended, Frasier Crane is reinventing himself once again. This time, back in Boston, with a new career in academics and a new role as a present father to his (now adult) son Freddy (Jack Cutmore-Scott).

Weakest Link –Pictured: Jane Lynch — (Photo by: Chris Haston/NBC) Back at the dawn of the new millennium, The Weakest Link was one of the hottest game shows on TV. Adapted from the British version with only minimal changes, the original version featured the British show’s host, Anne Robinson, pulling double duty on both sides of the Atlantic. In doing so, she earned a lot of fans, including Jane Lynch. Now, Lynch is the executive producer and host of the show’s revival, which is currently in its third season at NBC. When we spoke to Lynch about the show, she confessed her love for Robinson’s original version. Weakest Link –Pictured: Jane Lynch — (Photo by: Chris Haston/NBC) If you were drawing up a list of the most versatile performers in Hollywood, it would be tough to keep Jane Lynch off that list. As an actor, she’s equally adept at both comedy and drama. When she was starring on Glee, we got a taste of her singing and dancing skills. She’s a prolific voiceover artist, with more than 60 films and TV shows on her résumé. She’s hosted awards shows, reality specials, and game shows, including Weakest Link. About the only thing she hasn’t done has been hosting the nightly news, but now that we’ve given them the idea, who knows? So, in a town where people often get pigeonholed, how did she avoid that fate and become a Jane of all trades? (Click on the media bar below to hear Jane Lynch) https://www.

The Office cameramen had a tough job. Since the show was presumably a documentary about Dunder Mifflin, they had to film every episode like a documentary. That got cramped in the real office and even the soundstage they built, and sometimes camera operators risked injury. But, the camera became a character on the show and was even directed as such.

Decades after getting a once-in-a-lifetime spot on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson in 1991, George Lopez came into possession of a Rolex that once belonged to the late-night legend. He said touching the watch for the first time made him feel like a “light went through” him. Then, he realized the opportunity had an even more personal meaning. Here’s what he said about it.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air was Will Smith’s vehicle. It showed he could be an actor. Even though he was playing a character named Will Smith, the role was actually based on creator Benny Medina. Smith did all right after the show but one of his standout costars was Alfonso Ribeiro as cousin Carlton.

The Office is a comedy, but filming it sounds as intense as action-packed shows like 24 or NCIS. Randall Einhorn was a cinematographer on the first six seasons of The Office. Einhorn helped make the camera a character on ‘The Office,’ and therefore the cameraman too. The TV show Scrubs was full of memorable characters, but one fan-favorite was John C. McGinley’s Dr. Perry Cox, who delighted in torturing main character J.D. However, McGinley almost didn’t get the role even though the part was written with him in mind.

Scrubs premiered in 2001 and followed the lives of a group of doctors, nurses, patients, and other employees at the fictional Sacred Heart Hospital. McGinley, known for playing darkly humorous characters in movies like Wall Street, Point Break, and Platoon, was perfect for Dr. Perry Cox, an attending physician who is constantly irritated by J.

One memorable performance from late actor and sex symbol Raquel Welch came when she played an aggressively amplified version of herself on Seinfeld in 1997. It allowed her to hilariously address longstanding rumors of being challenging to work with.

Abbott Elementary‘s overnight success at ABC is something to celebrate, and while the show offers viewers plenty to love, we can’t help but be particularly enamored by Tyler James Williams‘ portrayal of Gregory Eddie. The newest member of the Abbott faculty has his own quirks and unique traits, but there’s something about his role that reminds us of another comedy TV favorite: Parks and Recreation‘s Ben Wyatt (Adam Scott). The NBC comedy, which ran from 2009 to 2015, may have bid viewers farewell a while ago, but Ben’s influence seems to remain. Below, we’re breaking down the ways in which Gregory seems to be Abbott Elementary‘s Ben Wyatt. The Office paved the way for many other “documentary style” TV comedies. It was based on the British format, and shows like Trailer Park Boys predate the American Office too. But, the success of The Office meant shows like Parks and Recreation or Modern Family could get away with it on broadcast. The creators of the American The Office said they were inspired by reality TV.

Many episodes of The Office started with a cold open. This tactic jumped right into the middle of a story that had nothing to do with the episode’s narrative but stood alone as a mini arc. Many of the cold opens from The Office are fan favorites, including the one from the season 6 premiere “Gossip” where Michael (Steve Carell), Andy (Ed Helms), and Dwight (Rainn Wilson) do parkour. Ralph then spoke, saying, "To anyone who has ever, ever had a dream and thought that your dream wasn't, wouldn't, couldn't come true, I am here to tell you that this is what believing looks like. This is what striving looks like,...
