If you'd told me beforehand the gimmick of a new trilogy of short gay films by director Alain Hain and screenwriter Jason Mills, I would've been wary:
They have almost no dialogue, just a series of running voice-overs that relate to the story (taken from real-life interviews with actual gay men).
It's an extremely bold choice, but it absolutely works in all three of these very interconnected movies, Curious Thing, the in-between, and A Lack of Gravity. The first film, Curious Thing, is currently playing at Outfest 2010, the Glbt film festival, with the next showing on Sunday, July 18th at 12 Pm.
The movies tell of three "incidents" in the life of one very contemporary gay man: a brief, ill-fated love affair with a "straight" man (Curious Thing), an attempt at a relationship with a man who has different ideas about commitment and monogamy (the in-between), and an effort to set...
