Graphic artist Olly Moss is now working for “Dota 2” and “Half-Life” developer Valve, he revealed on Twitter Monday.
Moss is perhaps best known in gaming circles for his work on Campo Santo’s award-winning first-person adventure “Firewatch.” He co-founded the studio in 2013 alongside Sean Vanaman, Jake Rodkin, and Nels Anderson. As the game’s art director, he was reportedly responsible for its distinct color and lighting, along with the various logos and prop designs inspired by 1960s national park posters.
So one thing that’s neat is that I am going to work at Valve.
— Olly Moss (@ollymoss) August 6, 2018
Before joining Campo Santo, Moss was most notable for creating a beautiful line of “Star Wars” movie posters. They were released in 2010 in a limited run and are now worth thousands of dollars. Moss also created cover art for the video game “Resistance 3” and the first digital copies of J.K. Rowling’s “Harry Potter” series,...

Valve Corporation, the company behind gaming store and platform Steam as well as franchises as diverse as “Portal,” “Counter-Strike: Global Offensive,” and “Half-Life,” is now also home to “Firewatch” developer Campo Santo, according to a blog post on Campo Santo’s official site this weekend.
“The twelve of us at Campo Santo have agreed to join Valve, where we will maintain our jobs as video game developers and continue production on our current project, ‘In the Valley of Gods,'” according to the Saturday evening post. The group goes on to write that they found in Valve a company that shares their values and that the deal is an obvious match.

Over the weekend, YouTube star Felix "PewDiePie" Kjellberg generated controversy when he used the n-word as an expletive during one of his Twitch streams. The responses that followed over the next day were varied; some argued for the embattled streamer, arguing that he should not be vilified for his use of a single word, while others found Kjellberg's language to be indefensible. One of the strongest reactions in the latter camp came from Sean Vanaman, a developer who vowed to file Digital Millennium Copyright Act (Dmca) takedown requests for any PewDiePie videos that featured his games.
Tuesday, September 12 has brought more updates. Most significantly, Kjellberg posted a new video in which he offered an apology for his behavior. He called the widespread use of the n-word in the gaming world "extremely immature and stupid." "I hate how I personally fed into that part of gaming," he added. "I'm not going to make any excuses.

Despite the fact that there really hasn’t been a runaway hit for a video game for…well, ever…Hollywood still keeps mining the medium for gems. And why not. There are a lot of great stories in games. It’s just a matter of finding someone who understands why fans love a franchise to begin with and adapt that faithfully to the big screen. Like with comic books, filmmakers will eventually crack the code and get it to work. The next film coming up that we hope will turn the tide is Assassin’s Creed, but that is by no means the only one in the works.
Apart from your run-of-the-mill triple-a titles that are guaranteed to put butts in seats, Hollywood is also wisely looking at other newer, more indie properties. A couple months back we reported that Life Is Strange would be getting a film, and now,...

The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Firewatch, 2016's biggest entrant into videogaming's growing 'walking simulator' genre, is now set to be adapted into a major motion picture.
This project is part of a deal between film production company Good Universe and Firewatch's developer Campo Santo, who are joining forces in order to create a subsidiary intended to connect filmmakers and game developers. The full extent of this collaboration is unknown, but Campo Santo founder Sean Vanaman did have this to say regarding the agreement.

Campo Santo, the indie developer behind first-person hit Firewatch, has struck a deal with Good Universe to foster content across both feature films and video games.
The Hollywood Reporter has the scoop, confirming that it is Firewatch that will be the first project to be repackaged for the big screen. Rooted in the Wyoming wilderness of ’89, the mystery crime thriller places players in the boots of Henry, a grieving fire lookout who makes tracks for the Shoshone National Forest fire soon after his ailing wife, Julia, develops early signs of dementia.
Featuring a poignant, touching story at its core, it’s really the dynamic between Henry and Delilah that anchors Firewatch from the outset, as the twosome set about uncovering a strange disturbance deep in the forest. Influenced by adventure thrillers in the vein of Zodiac, The Shining, The Conversation, Campo’s debut title certainly touts all of the cinematic...

Texture pop-ins and framerate issues have threatened to cast a shadow over Campo Santo’s lush rendition of the Wyoming wilderness, and recently the developer took to Reddit to assure early Firewatch adopters its working “around the clock” to resolve those hitches that have reared their head on PlayStation 4.
In fact, Campo Santo is “super fucking bummed” these technical issues exist in the first place. According to studio co-founder Sean Vanaman, when Firewatch was tested on PS4 dev kits no framerate issues were detected, nixing any suggestions that the studio had “saw this stuff and went ‘eh, screw it, sell it anyway.'”

It may have only been a day since Firewatch launched, but developer Campo Santo is already looking to address the performance issues found in the title on the PlayStation 4. Besides now being available on the PS4, the Wyoming-set adventure additionally is available for Windows PC.
Speaking to the fine denizens of NeoGAF, Campo Santo revealed that they have been speaking with the proper parties about getting the frame-rate issues with the game fixed.
Fwiw, we’re currently talking to both Sony and Unity and we’re all working hard to to optimize performance of Firewatch on PS4.
It’s tricky, because it really requires all three partners working together to improve — it’s not something we can tackle on our own, unlike a game bug — but we’ll definitely continue to patch all platforms with every content and performance fix we can over time!
To summarize: we’re on it.

Since it was revealed back in 2014, everyone has been trying to figure out just what Firewatch is. The purposefully cryptic trailers seemed to indicate that a mystery was afoot in the woods of the Shoshone National Forest in Wyoming. Combine that with the fact that the title comes from a brand new developer in Campo Santo, and you’ll understand why ideas ran wild about just what the game was actually about. It’s rare that even a day before launch, speculation can still be running rampant about a highly-anticipated title. I’m not here to spoil anything, obviously, but I can say that whatever your thoughts on the title are, there is a good chance that you’re wrong.

Ahead of the game’s arrival early next week, developer Campo Santo has entertained the proposition of releasing an Xbox One version of Firewatch in the months after launch.

Taking place in the Wyoming outback circa 1989, Campo Santo has in the past compared the length of the experience to a TV mini-series, roughly in the 6-7 hour ballpark. But will the story continue in the form of a sequel? Vanaman noted that for now...

The element of player choice was one of the features that made Telltale Games' "The Walking Dead" one of the most critically acclaimed games of 2012. It was an even more meaningful achievement when this choice-driven game essentially reached the same conclusion for all players. The game succeeds in the choices during the journey and less on the anticipation of the outcome of the choices. One of the more significant choices was during the game's second episode where you had to decide on the fates of Doug and Carley. Be prepared to justify Lee's decisions. That's the takeaway from "No time Left," the final episode of Telltale Games' "The Walking Dead," which concluded last week on the PC, Xbox 360, PS3, and Mac (the iOS version is incoming). More than any other game this year, "The Walking Dead" has not just been about player choice, but making players own up to those choices made for Lee, a convict-turned-caretaker for Clementine, a lost and scared little girl in the middle of a zombie outbreak. Throughout this season, players (as Lee) have had to make decisions that would guarantee to (or at least prolong) his and Clementine's survival in the face of other travelers, bandits, cannibals, and of course, the flesh-eating dead.
Which leads to the other takeaway from this final, poignant, heartbreaking episode: "Clementine will remember this."

In one of the least-secretive announcements at last night's Telltale Games event in San Francisco, the studio officially announced their plans to bring Robert Kirkman's beloved comic book series to the video game market. Few details were available in this early stage of development, but based on the meager tidbits of information I could gather, fans of the series should start getting excited for "The Walking Dead" game.
"The Walking Dead" is more than just a run-of-the-mill zombie story. Kirkman's ability to force the reader into truly caring about the characters on the page, sometimes ripping out our hearts in the process, is what makes this series truly special. Sure, there's a zombie apocalypse afoot, but Kirkman's genius lies in focusing on the way a living nightmare affects the human condition, using the ghoulish undead as a set-piece as opposed to the centerpiece.
"I came to Telltale to tell stories.
