The fallout from “How It’s Gotta Be” continues unabated.
After hearing the reactions of Andrew Lincoln and Lennie James – Rick Grimes and Morgan Jones, respectively, who will seemingly be brought closer together by last night’s shocking twist of fate – The Hollywood Reporter has relayed an impassioned social media post from William Riggs, father to the young Chandler Riggs.
For those not already in the know: The Walking Dead season 8 reached its mid-season finale with a sucker punch, after it was revealed that Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs) had suffered a fatal walker bite while defending Alexandria. But it turns out Carl’s imminent demise completely blindsided both Riggs and his extended family, as his father William Riggs revealed in a now-deleted Facebook comment:

Rick Grimes is a broken shell of a man.
Coming out of “How It’s Gotta Be” and all of the game-changing revelations that ensued, Andrew Lincoln’s wounded hero has been left facing a parent’s worst nightmare on The Walking Dead season 8: Carl Grimes, the veteran survivor as played by Chandler Riggs, suffered a fatal walker bite on Sunday’s mid-season finale, meaning it’s now only a matter of time before he’s written out of the series for good.
It’s a tragic, heartwrenching reveal that will only bring Rick and Morgan Jones (Lennie James) closer together going into the remainder of season 8, but it turns out Lincoln’s leader will form a closer bond with another key Twd character, too: Danai Gurira’s fan-favorite Michonne. The first crossover between The Walking Dead and its sister show Fear The Walking Dead is now on the horizon, with Lennie James’ Morgan Jones recently revealed to be the character set to leave the parent series and join the cast of the spinoff. Someone else who’s already missing Morgan is Rick Grimes himself, Andrew Lincoln. As the leading man of the zombie drama, the actor has had to say goodbye to many cast members over the years, and James’ upcoming exit is hitting him hard as he really enjoys exploring Rick and Morgan’s relationship.

2017-11-27T06:53:05-08:00Morgan to Leave 'Walking Dead'
One of the most-liked characters from The Walking Dead will be leaving that series and moving to the spinoff series, Fear the Walking Dead. Morgan, who is played by Lennie James, will exit the parent series in an as-yet-unknown way and reappear on the prequel series next season. The move comes as both Twd and Ftwd are struggling with their ratings; Twd is currently drawing ratings on a par with its second season in 2011, and Ftwd saw steadily declining ratings through its most recent season. The crossover gamibt, which is no doubt intended to shore up audiences of both series, is risky, given that Morgan is one of the most popular characters on Twd, and the audience for Ftwd is far smaller than that of the parent series.

So much attention has been paid to the “all-out war” underpinning The Walking Dead season 8 that few have stopped to ask the question: who will be sent to meet their maker come October?
Because make no mistake, series showrunner Scott Gimple has gone on record in the past to warn viewers that season 8 features “lots of killing,” and we’re not just talking about those flesh-munching zombies. With the battle lines drawn, Rick, Maggie and the rest of the gang have rallied all the troops – namely those scattered across Alexandria, the Kingdom and the Hilltop – to topple Negan once and for all. And yes, The Walking Dead‘s eighth season will resolve the battle brewing between Rick Grimes and Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s unruly screen villain.
As for the subsequent body count, Gimple recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the “big deaths” to come, and how they’ll catch people by surprise.

The Walking Dead will soon be returning to our screens for its highly anticipated eighth season next month. And we all know what that means, right? Be prepared to say goodbye to a beloved character as they die a really gruesome death.
Which unlucky member of the cast will be given the axe this time around, though? Currently, all signs are pointing to Morgan Jones being the one to get the chop next. In the season 8 trailer (above), the character uttered the most jinxing words anyone could ever say on this show: “I don’t die.” That’s The Walking Dead equivalent of saying “At least, it’s not raining.”
During a special preview of the season premiere that aired on Sunday, stars Lennie James and Jeffrey Dean Morgan teased how the character’s words could come back to bite him, saying the following:
“It doesn’t matter what my reaction to it is.

The one-off episode is a hallmark of exceptional TV. It exists to fly far away from a show's narrative arc, creating little worlds in and of themselves. When the strings of a narrative get tangled up, one-offs act as palate cleansers — the sorbet of mid-season TV, if you will — to wash out the taste of heavy-handed cliffhangers or tangential spats or a showrunner's artful but exhausting trail of breadcrumbs.I'm thinking of "Here's Not Here," the flashback episode in season six of The Walking Dead, which was entirely devoted to discovering when and where Morgan Jones learned his "code" of relative nonviolence. If only for a brief time, the show abandoned Rick, Glenn, Daryl, and the crew to trace the spiritual development of a relatively new character. And it was fabulous. Or take "The International Assassin," from the second season of The Leftovers, in which Kevin Garvey dies, dreams, and...

This week, we interrupt your regularly scheduled programming to bring you a very special, all–Morgan Jones episode. It takes 90 minutes to explain what happened to our favorite pacifist between his first reunion with Rick in season three and his reappearance on the way to Terminus. The result is a mostly satisfying backstory that answers a few key questions: How did Morgan transform from babbling basketcase to Zen master? Where did he pick up those mad fighting skills? And who was his mentor, the Cheesemaker? The episode also serves as a lengthy counterargument to the Ricktatorship plan — an endorsement for peace over war, even in these darkest of times. The story begins with an unusually direct time stamp, so we know Morgan’s opening speech is happening “now.” Two weeks ago, it looked like Morgan’s final strike against his Wolf attacker in Alexandria had been fatal, but no — the...

The title of last night's episode of "The Walking Dead" was "Here's Not Here," and even though it was a Morgan Jones quote, the "Not Here" best described Steven Yeun and his character, Glenn Rhee.
The only main Twd cast member in Season 6, Episode 4 was Lennie James, whose Morgan had his own standalone movie, co-starring a cheesemaker and a goat. But the other main and supporting actors were all featured in the opening credits -- which is the norm, whether the actor is in the episode or not -- expect for Steven Yeun, aka Glenn. Fans noticed that Steven Yeun was removed from the opening credits.
What gives?
If Glenn were definitively dead after last week's "Thank You," it would be much more straightforward. He would've been shown in last Sunday's "Talking Dead" In Memoriam. Steven Yeun would be doing interviews, and the cast would be talking about the legacy of Glenn.

Sure, the West Coast prequel Fear the Walking Dead was a fine summer diversion (and may one day develop into a must-see show), but let's be honest: Zombie-lovers have mostly been drumming their rotting fingers since March, waiting for the original to come back.
This Sunday night, Rick and Carol and Glenn and the rest of Twd's ragtag band of survivors finally return, for the first of 16 Season Six episodes (to be split, as always, into two eight-episode batches). And while the fifth season ended with most of the characters...

There are only three more Sundays until "The Walking Dead" Season 6 premieres on October 11. AMC just posted "A Look at Season 6," with the cast and producers reviewing the end of Season 5 -- with Rick Grimes and company arriving at Alexandria and basically turning it upside-down -- and previewing what's next in the 2015-2016 season.
The video includes a good amount of footage from the upcoming season, plus commentary from Steven Yeun (Glenn), producer Greg Nicotero, producer Denise Huth, Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes), Seth Gilliam (Father Gabriel), Danai Gurira (Michonne), producer Dave Alpert, Lennie James (Morgan Jones), and Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon).
We're told Season 6 will navigate this world between zombie threats and human threats, and both threats will be elevated at the start of Season 6. As Norman Reedus put it, "The threats get larger, the threats come in ways that you don't expect them to, the threats come in ways...

It's getting dark in Alexandria! "The Walking Dead" Season 6 is shuffling our way in just over a month, with a supersized 90-minute premiere on Sunday, October 11. To build even more anticipation, AMC just shared two new images. One is "key art" for Season 6, aka a poster showing Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) inside the W of Twd (careful of those other "W" people, Rick). As you can see, his face is still bandaged from his fight with Pete in Season 5.
Check it out:

AMC.com also released the first character portrait from Season 6, showing old Atlanta buddies Rick and Morgan Jones (Lennie James) in Alexandria. It's not the happiest of reunions, as you can tell from the image above.

1. AMC is launching a five Sunday, five season "Walking Dead" marathon, starting with Season 1, Episode 1, "Days Gone Bye" on Sunday, July 26 at 2:30 p.m. All six episodes of Season 1 will air that day. The next Sunday, August 2, Season 2 will start airing its 13 episodes at 7:30 a.m. The next Sunday, August 9, the 16 episodes of Season 3 will air. Season 4 airs Sunday, August 16. Claimed! "The Walking Dead" Season 6 Comic-Con trailer just made its official debut today (Friday, July 10) at San Diego Comic-Con. A slightly shorter version was leaked online last night, but the full trailer has an extra 30 seconds a the start, before Enid walks through the gate, extending the footage to more than 4 minutes. That super-size length is perfect for the Season 6 premiere, which was announced to be 90 minutes, starting Sunday, October 11 at 9 p.m. Et on AMC.
Here's the full trailer:
The trailer certainly leaves us with a lot of questions. Will almost everyone be against Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) this season, including his two BFFs? We figured Mr. All Life Is Precious Morgan Jones (Lennie James) might have concerns about The Ricktator's kill-or-die strategy -- and the trailer includes Morgan's voice saying, "I know Rick, I can stop him" -- but it looks like maybe Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) could disagree with Rick too.

Update: Christmas is here! The big Season 6 trailer is now available for viewing, and the premiere date was confirmed as Sunday, October 11, 2015. Season 6, Episode 1 will be 90 minutes, bumped up from the usual 60 minutes. Woo hoo! Here's AMC confirming it all:

Not sure yet what that means for "Talking Dead," but it may just air at 10:30, like they did after the 90 minute Season 5 finale.
Original story:
The "Dead" will rise very soon! AMC's "The Walking Dead" and "Fear the Walking Dead" will have back-to-back panels at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday, July 10. The main show is going first, staging its Season 6 panel at 12 p.m. Pdt (3 p.m. for East Coasters) in Hall H. That is traditionally when they debut the big first trailer with enticing (but often misleading) footage from the first five or six episodes.

It's definitely a Sunday in October.
Speaking of needing a specific release date, the same goes for "The Walking Dead" spinoff that's not really a spinoff/prequel that's not really a prequel.

So much for that King County bromance. "The Walking Dead" Season 6 starts in October, but AMC just released the first poster/banner/key art in advance of July's San Diego Comic-Con 2015, where the cast and crew will once again dominate Hall H with an awesome promo and zero answers on what actually happens in the 16 episodes ahead. But this first poster does give us some strong hints.
The image shows Season 1 besties Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Morgan Jones (Lennie James), almost butting heads, but also almost leaning into each other's foreheads in that I Love You Man bromance way. They are looking past each other, heavily hinting to two sides being taken in Season 6 -- Rick's Atlanta OGs and new friends to the left, and the Alexandrians to the right, led possibly by Rick's old savior Morgan but also including Father Gabriel (Seth Gilliam). Apparently he is not done betraying Rick's group.

AMC has unveiled The Walking Dead Season 6 banner that will be displayed at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. As you can see, we have Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Morgan Jones (Lennie James) inside the Alexandria walls where they reunited at the end of Season 5. Rick’s group, including Daryl (Norman Reedus), Michonne (Danai Gurira) and Carol (Melissa McBride), stand to the left of Rick and Morgan while Father Gabriel (Seth Gilliam), Deanna Monroe (Tovah Feldshuh), Aaron (Ross Marquand), Jessie (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Spencer Monroe (Austin Nichols) stand to the right. The Comic Con panel will take place Friday, July 10 at 12:00 pm Pdt in Hall H. Attendees will also get a look at spin-off show, Fear The Walking Dead. The Walking Dead returns this October on AMC.

Warning: Spoilers ahead from "The Walking Dead" Season 6 and the comic book.
This should cheer you up: Four months from now, we'll be watching (and probably loving) "The Walking Dead" Season 6 on AMC. Fans will get a preview of the new season when the first mega-trailer is released, as usual, at Comic-Con next month. That'll only be the awesomest thing to happen all summer. In the meantime, new character intel has been coming out in dribs and drabs -- not like the steady flow of intel on the companion show, "Fear the Walking Dead," which starts in August. We still have to wait for October for Rick Grimes to have a convo with Morgan Jones, but TVLine just shared some interesting new details on two arriving characters:
Question: Anything on Season 6 of The Walking Dead? -Gerry
Ausiello: Yup. I think I may already be able to reveal the first casualty...

According to a recent report from the Inquisitr and their sources, there's some possible spoiler teasers, claiming that Rick and Morgan are going to have a big fight showdown, because he isn't going to agree with Rick shooting Pete at the end of season 5. Their source, The Undead Walking, said: "Times will be tough for The Walking Dead‘s original bromance between Morgan Jones and Rick Grimes. You have to see where both men are coming from: Rick has been trying to walk the fine line between sanity and in-Shane-ity, while Morgan seems to have come to peace with the new zombified world. Morgan won’t take too kindly to seeing Rick shoot Pete in the head at the end of last season. The two will probably clash on morality, which has been a central focus of AMC’s hit show since the very beginning.” Season 6 premieres this October 2015.

"The Walking Dead" has departed until October, but the spinoff/companion series, "Fear the Walking Dead," is premiering its first six episodes late this summer on AMC. Robert Kirkman, who writes the "Walking Dead" comic books and executive produces both the main show and the spinoff, was at the 2015 National Association of Broadcasters Show with actor Steven Yeun (Glenn) and AMC president Charlie Collier, and they teased some Twd stuff ahead. You can watch a portion of the Nab Show talk in the video below, but here are five highlights:

Season 5 ended with Rick Grimes finally face to face with his old buddy Morgan Jones, whom he hadn't seen since Morgan went loco in Season 3. "The Walking Dead" cast does not know what's coming next in Season 6, but they just assume "bad things," "chaos" and "aggressive" confrontations with The Wolves are ahead. They're probably right! Season 5 just ended in late March, and Season 6 won't even start filming until early May, so the cast is in the dark until they get the first scripts. Most of the producers are in the dark as well, since only showrunner Scott M. Gimple knows the exact plan for the next 16 episodes.
