Projects from Belgium, Germany, Romania, Serbia and the UK are among the selected nine for SeriesLab, a training programme for international TV series projects by TorinoFilmLab (Tfl) running from June-October.
This year’s cohort is made up of 11 female and 12 male filmmakers who will develop innovative series projects with support from a group of industry tutors and story editors led by Italian screenwriter Nicola Lusuardi.
Upon completion of the programme, the cohort will present their final projects at the Mia market in Rome.

Constantin Film has been named Germany’s most successful producer and distributor of German films for 2015.
The Munich-based company was presented with the “Ffa Industry Tiger” by the German Federal Film Board (Ffa) at an awards ceremony in Berlin last night.
The award came with $3.8m (€3.4m) “reference” funding for the company to invest in future film projects and theatrical campaigns.
Constantin attracted more than $2.9m (€2.6m) in production “reference” funding for five in-house productions, including the year’s leading film at the box office Fack Ju Göhte 2 and the comedy Er Ist Wieder Da, and distribution “reference” support of $968,000 (€851,000) based on the performance of nine releases.
“2015 was a superb year for us,” Constantin’s CEO Martin Moszkowicz said as he accepted the Industry Tiger Award. “[Fack Ju Gothe 2] was the best film in the company’s history.”

Uberto Pasolini’s Still Life was the big winner at the fifth edition of Voices, the Russian showcase for young European cinema, which came to a close on Tuesday evening [July 8] in Vologda.
Pasolini’s second feature as director won the Grand Prix and the award for best actor went to the film’s male lead Eddie Marsan in an “absolutely wonderful performance”.
Jury president Svetlana Proskurina said that the decision for the Grand Prix had been “absolutely unanimous”, while Voices art director Korinna Danielou recalled that having Still Life at the festival had been “a dream come true” for her.
She accepted the award on behalf of Pasolini who had left Vologda on the midnight train to Moscow last Sunday [July 6] on the way to present his film at the festival in Karlovy Vary.

This year’s Screen International Best Pitch Award went to Lithuanian producer Uljana Kim of Vilnius-based Studio Uljana Kim who was pitching Kristijonas Vildžiūnas’s fourth feature Seneca’s Day which is set to be the first co-production between the three Baltic states.
The €1.48m drama, which also has France’s Philippe Avril attached as a co-producer via his Strasbourg-based company Unlimited, has already received development support from the Lithuanian Film Centre and Media.
Previous winners of the Screen International award, which follows the winning project editorially from development into production and subsequent distribution, includes Petri Kotwica’s Rat King, Alexei German Jr.’s Under Electric Clouds and Jaak Kilmi’s The Hoppers.
