Writer/director Declan O'Brien's 'Joy Ride 3: Road Kill' is now available on VOD and will shortly be arriving on both DVD and Blu-ray. And Shock Till Your Drop have managed to score a trio of new and exclusive stills from the movie which sees the murderous trucker Rusty Nail back on the road and doing what he does best...knocking off unsupecting young drivers. I can't imagine when it lands here in the UK it'll have the same title as the 'Joy Ride' franchise itself is already known here as 'Roadkill', so deal with that marketing pros. The threequel stars Kirsten Prout, Dean Armstrong, Ben Hollingsworth, Jesse Hutch, Gianpaolo Venuta, Leela Savasta, Sara Mitich, J. Adam Brown and Jake Manley. Head below for the new images....

Kirzinger, of course, is a former Jason Voorhees, having played the almight masked one in Freddy vs. Jason.

Firstly let's clear things up for our UK readers out there. You may remember a John Dahl helmed 2001 horror which starred Paul Walker ('Into the Blue') and Steve Zahn ('Knights of Badassdom') and revolved around an insane trucker called Rusty Nail hunting down a trio on a road trip following a Cb-related wind up? UK-ers will know this as 'Road Kill' whilst our Us counterparts are familiar with the feature under its original title 'Joy Ride'. And after a lackluster straight to DVD follow-up back in 2008 (known as 'Joy Ride 2: Dead Ahead') it appears a third effort is on the cards. Production on 'Joy Ride 3' begins early next month with 'Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines' writer/director Declan O'Brien on board to write and helm. The third installment will be unveiled by Fox Home Entertainment onto DVD, Blu-ray and VOD during the...

Following my viewing of the fifth installment of the Wrong Turn franchise last night, I hit up the supplemental features -- as I've grown accustomed to doing, and found a very interesting tidbit at the end of one of the features. 'Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines' will be hitting Blu-ray and DVD this time next month. Declan O'Brien's latest installment in the backwood franchise will be unleashed courtesy of Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment on 23 October. Those freaky faced inbreds are back to cause more havoc and a new trailer for the home release has been unveiled packed with plenty of gore, chopping and sex. Doug Bradley ('Hellraiser'), Simon Ginty, Oliver Hoare, Amy Lennox, Luebke, Duncan Wisbey, Kyle Redmond-Jones, Peter Brooke, Radoslav Purvanov (Ratzata), Georgi Karlukovski, Bobi Iliev and sexy Brits Camilla Arfwedson ('The Duchess') and ex-'Hollyoaks' hottie Roxanne McKee (below) all star. There's no immediate DVD release date for here in the UK but I'm sure an announcement is just around the corner....

★☆☆☆☆ Released in 2003, the inaugural Wrong Turn was an average slasher/horror that left no real impression on the genre and grossed a healthy, yet far from exemplary amount at the box office. Somehow, that film has now spawned three sequels (four by the end of this year), the latest entitled Bloody Beginnings (2012). Declan O'Brien's entry is apparently a prequel, despite following a near-identical format that sees a bunch of handsome twenty-somethings inadvertently falling foul of a troop of misshapen oddities.

Ex-'Hollyoaks' hottie Roxanne McKee (below) has signed up her sweet ass to star in writer/director Declan O'Brien's latest backwoods horror installment 'Wrong Turn 5'. The actress who starred as Doreah in HBO's fantasy drama series 'Game of Thrones' appears in the next chapter of the long-running franchise which takes place during a Halloween festival where those pesky hillbilly inbreds decide to crash the party. Brit star Doug Bradley ('Hellraiser') is also on board the project which shoots on location in Bulgaria. The plot synopsis was revealed last week and you can read it again below....

Following up on yesterday's exclusive and confirmed casting news that Doug Bradley had joined the cast of Declan O'Brien's Wrong Turn 5, the name of the flick's female lead has now come our way. Read on for details.
A Bulgarian DC reader by the name of Stevenson has written in once again to let us know that television actress Camilla Arfwedson (pictured) has joined the cast of the film as the female lead who will be tangoing with the inbred cannibals of the backwoods. Roxanne McKee ("Game of Thrones") also stars. Given that Stevenson was on the money pertaining to Bradley's involvement, we're pretty certain on our source. No official casting announcements have been made at this time.
Synopsis
In the next chilling chapter of Wrong Turn, a small West Virginia town is hosting the legendary Mountain Man Festival on Halloween, where throngs of costumed partygoers gather for a wild night of music and mischief.

The deformed cannibals at the heart of the Wrong Turn franchise don't seem like easy candidates for the prequel treatment. Unless you've got a killer script in your back pocket about hillbilly incest in the mountains of West Virginia (and the limited food options that lead to the move to long pork), there's not a lot there in terms of compelling backstory. So absent that, Declan O'Brien, the writer and director behind the latest entry in the franchise chooses to go in a completely baffling direction of setting the movie in the same year as the events of the first film, in the ancient, sepia-toned past of 2003. And outside of the new, snowy locale, O'Brien doesn't really add much to the nearly 10-year-old franchise,...

I was not a fan of 2003's Wrong Turn. It was an example of a horror film that exhibited everything the excellent Tucker and Dale vs. Evil sought to poke fun at. I was, however, a fan of Wrong Turn 2: Dead End, a direct-to-dvd sequel that never took itself too seriously and by doing so allowed the audience the opportunity to have a little more fun at the gore and mayhem rather than taking the opportunity to just be gross. However, I never watched 2009's [amazon asin="B002G1WPG8" text="Wrong Turn 3: Left for Dead"]. I can't remember if I ever received a screener or if I even asked for one, but when Fox Home Entertainment brought that film's director, Declan O'Brien, back to write and direct a fourth film I felt I might as well give it a shot. After all, I thought that first teaser poster was pretty great. This fourth installment begins by going all the...

[Updated with a red band trailer] The Wrong Turn series seems like an unlikely one for the prequel treatment--how much backstory do inbred hillbilly cannibals really need? Well, the latest entry, subtitled Bloody Beginnings, is going to give it a try. Although excessive--i tend to think these kinds of scenarios reject the need for backstory--i'm still willing to give it a try given that I think two out of the previous three entries were actually far better than the genre really deserves. Directed by Declan O'Brien (who has a lot of TV movie credits to his name, but nothing I recognize), the latest entry is going back a few years while still keeping the same teens/young adults in peril formula from the previous entries...

It's a very mixed bag this week for horror title releases. We're not sure how Dread-worthy the supernatural drama Hereafter (directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Matt Damon, Bryce Dallas Howard and Jay Mohr) is but have included it because of its afterlife aspects.
On the list you'll also find a couple of schlocky monster movies, one a double-feature of classic Gamera entries and the other from the Syfy channel featuring Sharktopus (a sea creature that is both a shark and an octopus) with an over-acting Eric Roberts. In addition Syfy is releasing its mockbuster Battle of Los Angeles to take advantage of the current Aliens-Invading-Los-Angeles craze.

Starring Matt Damon, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jay Mohr, Cécile de France, Frankie McLaren, George McLaren
George is a blue-collar American with a special connection to the afterlife dating from his childhood. French journalist Marie has a near-death experience that shakes her reality.

So, director Declan O'Brien and 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment thought it was a good idea to move ahead on Wrong Turn 4 , and shooting commenced today up in Winnipeg. Local papers are spilling the beans about the production. This time, college kids go snowmobiling (so there's a winter element) and to find shelter from a storm, they make a "wrong turn" and wind up in an isolated asylum. Some of the patients, it turns out, are still there, naturally. It sounds like they're abandoning the mutant rednecks of the first three films and going in a different direction. The set up sounds a lot like Cold Prey . Stay tuned for cast details as they come in!
