The Outlaw Country Cruise is setting sail for its ninth year. The 2025 voyage will launch Feb. 22 and run through Feb. 28 with performances from Old Crow Medicine Show, John Hiatt, Lucinda Williams, Steve Earle, Dave Alvin & Jimmie Dale Gilmore with the Guilty Ones, and more. This will mark the first Outlaw Country Cruise since the death of the ship’s regular emcee and performer, Mojo Nixon, who died during February’s cruise.

It’s late afternoon in the back of the Princess Theatre in downtown Decatur, Alabama. Sitting in front of a brightly-lit mirror in the green room of the historic venue, blues-rocker Samantha Fish is readying herself for the show alongside her musical-partner-in-crime of late, Jesse Dayton. The duo is in the midst of a whirlwind tour for their album Death Wish Blues.

John Anderson is going to sea. The “Seminole Wind” country singer is joining Outlaw Country Cruise 7 as a headliner opposite Lucinda Williams, the Mavericks, and Steve Earle & the Dukes. It’s the latest in a string of Anderson news, as the 67-year-old gears up for the release of Something Borrowed, Something New: A Tribute to John Anderson.
On Saturday, the tribute album will come to life onstage at the Grand Ole Opry, as Dan Auerbach, who co-produced the record, joins Tyler Childers, Gillian Welch and David Rawlings, Elizabeth Cook, and...

Jesse Dayton spent Halloween onstage at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, playing Elvis Presley songs behind Glenn Danzig. It’s the kind of oddball convergence of personalities and styles that could only find its way to Dayton, an outspoken Texas singer, songwriter, and guitarist who has collaborated with everyone from Misfits Glenn to “Rhinestone Cowboy” Glen.
“Glenn’s an old-school rock star. He bought everyone in the crowd a Voodoo Doughnut with an upside-down pentagram on it — something Glen Campbell would never,” Dayton says.

Last January, the fifth installment of the Outlaw Country Cruise was at sea when the Who declared the novel coronavirus a public health emergency. Like the majority of cruises, the 2021 installment was subsequently postponed and will now launch in 2022 with a just-announced lineup.
Set for February 25th through March 3rd, 2022, Outlaw Country Cruise 6 will feature perennial headliners Lucinda Williams, Steve Earle, and Elizabeth Cook, along with a special reunion: Emmylou Harris will re-team with the core members of her legendary backing group, the Hot Band, including Rodney Crowell and Albert Lee.

“It’s pretty dangerous out here,” Jesse Dayton says, calling from his home in Texas, where coronavirus infections are surging. Dayton lives in Austin, and he’s been doing his best to lay low, venturing out only for solo workouts and Harley rides — he wears a mask underneath his helmet.
But the singer-guitarist knows the importance of escaping 2020’s seemingly endless loop of bad news. Social gatherings are out of the question (or should be), so Dayton re-creates a bayou party on the new EP Gulf Coast Sessions, out Friday.

On tap right now is a bunch of stuff from writer/director Jesse Dayton’s zombie feature Zombex, including the artwork, several new stills, and even the sales trailer. Start feasting!
From Vmi Worldwide Sales comes Zombex, starring Malcolm McDowell (Halloween), Lew Temple (Halloween), Sid Haig (House of 1000 Corpses), Corey Feldman (Lost Boys), and Pierre Kennel.
Synopsis:
Zombex tells the story of a post-Katrina New Orleans as it deals with a second disaster: a zombie apocalypse. Gone are the depression and post-traumatic stress of the hurricane thanks to the revolutionary new anti-depressant called "Zombex," which is manufactured by a nefarious corporation. Are citizens of the Big Easy on the path to happiness, or is Zombex working its dark magic? It is. Just as quickly as the city recovered, it plunges back into madness. Only this time, instead of deadly water filling the streets, Nola is flooded with the walking dead.

It’s been awhile since we reported on writer/director Jesse Dayton’s zombie feature Zombex, but that all changes today with a first look at the new one-sheet for the flick as well as word from star Lew Temple on the production.
“I star in it along with Malcolm McDowell and Sid Haig,” said Temple, who currently can be seen on Season Three of AMC’s “The Walking Dead” as "Axel" (look for an extensive interview with the actor coming soon), of Zombex.
“It’s about a conspiracy in which the government is using New Orleans and Hurricane Katrina as a test zone for post-traumatic stress medicines,” continued the actor, whose previous genre turns include Trailer Park of Terror, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, and Rob Zombie’s The Devil’s Rejects and Halloween, among others.

Musician Jesse Dayton may be best known to genre fans as “Captain Clegg,” the front man to the psychobilly band seen in Rob Zombie’s Halloween II, as he not only performed under the moniker in the film but also was the opening act on Zombie’s music tour that kicked off later that year as well.
Now Dayton is gearing up to show his fans out there another side of himself as the writer/director just wrapped production on his first feature film entitled Zombex, a zombie flick that explores the concept that maybe pharmaceutical companies could actually be dastardly enough to be responsible for creating a zombie apocalypse through the distribution of their medicinal products.

As if New Orleans didn't have enough problems, now they have zombies to contend with. In the new zombie flick, Zombex, currently in production, Singer/songwriter-turned-writer/director Jesse Dayton brings us this tale about a new anti-depressant created to help Nola residents deal with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Problem: this new drug seems to have the side effect of turning people into zombies. Personally, I wouldn't take a drug called Zombex, but hey, that's just me. Where most zombie movies centre around people trying to kill the zombie hordes, Jesse Dayton's Zombex might have something else on up its sleeve. Here's the official synopsis:

Reading that, I can't help but think that this "nefarious organization" is out to create a zombie horde. For what purpose is yet to be revealed.

In the months leading up to the release of Rob Zombie's Halloween II, the name "Captain Clegg" was a familiar one to readers of Fangoria.com and Fangoria Musick. Having covered the journey of the fictional band for ages, Captain Cushing Clegg and Co. took on a life of their own. As recently as last week, Clegg himself wrote a blog for us - which almost warrants this going in the "from our contributors" file.
You see, a weird thing happened with Captain Clegg and the Night Creatures. Rather than be remembered for a cameo in the recent Halloween film (being re-released during the more appropriate holiday week later this month), The Night Creatures became a real band.
In the interest of full disclosure, it would be unfair to our readers if I didn't admit to becoming pretty tight with the Clegg crew out of Austin. They're one of the...
