In the wrong hands, cliches are about the worst thing that can populate a film. Handled poorly, they just remind you all that can be wrong about cinema. However, cliches became that way for a reason, and are popular with some degree of cause. So, when filmmakers can lean in and utilize cliched material for their own means, sometimes you wind up with a fun result. Star Light is just such a beast, wandering down a well worn path but occasionally doing it in a way that we haven’t seen before, allowing it to stand out from the pack. "You are not safe with her in there..." 1091 Media has revealed an official trailer for an indie horror titled Star Light, a twisted little film directed by filmmakers Mitchell Altieri & Lee Cummings. A kind-hearted teen's life is turned upside down when he helps a world famous pop star on the run try to escape her violent pursuers. He ends up hiding out with her at a friend's house, turning a fun graduation party into a night of living hell. Starring Cameron Johnson as Dylan & Scout Taylor-Compton as Bebe A. Love; also joined by Rahart Adams, Liana Ramirez, Garrett Westton, Chandler Rachelle, Hagen Mills, Tiffany Shepis, Kevin Jiggetts, and Bret Roberts. This looks like it has a crazy twist where it turns out the pop star is some kind of creature. Maybe a werewolf or something else? I wonder if this is going to turn out to be a horror...

From my inbox… it’s called Date For Hire, directed by Lee Cummings, and its story goes… To show his friends that he isn’t the loser they have made him to be, Marcus bets them that he can get a date with the next girl that walks into the bar. But things don’t go quite as planned when the girl puts a price tag on their night out. Now a simple bet has turned into an all night adventure, where money, stalkers, and craziness collide. I won’t be doing so, but if you’re interested, look for it in the “black cinema section” at your local blockbuster this September...
