David Karner attended the USC School of Cinema-Television and began a
freelance career in Los Angeles, where he participated in varied
productions as a Production Assistant, Assistant Art Director,
Production Manager and Production Coordinator. After a move to Florida,
David became member and board member of the Daytona Beach Film Festival which led to
a working relationship with Blue Heron International Pictures. Focusing
on short films, David has had several positions as director and cameraman and
continues to expand his short film repertoire.
David headed a 48 Hour Film Festival team of 16 people as Director/Writer and successfully completed and entered the short film "Ted's Open House" in Orlando. Next, he directed "Spot On", which won Audience Choice Award for Comedy at the Flagler Film Festival and ran at the Enzian Film Slam in February of 2016. David was Director of Photography for a short horror film, "Lost Pet". In May of 2016, he directed "Litter Bug", a micro short of only one minute, entered into the Fun-Sized Horror Festival.
In 2017, he was the Director of Photography for his first indie feature film, "Sam & Elvis", expecting a premiere date in 2018.
