Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav “stars” in a deepfake video released on Friday to promote the studios’ “new process we call shelving.”
Zaslav has been dragged across the industry for his now-reversed Nov. 9 decision to shelve the already completed “Coyote Vs. Acme.” After significant backlash, and a call from Texas congressman Joaquin Castro for an FTC investigation into the practice, the movie will now be shopped to other studios.
“Myself and the people ruining… running, people running Warner Bros. love movies,” the CGI CEO beams in the clip. “Movies are one of my favorite forms of content.”
The parody is from “Jimmy Kimmel Live! “writer and director Jacob Reed, the same man behind the plane that flew over the studios with the message, “Pay your writers, you AI-holes” during the writers’ strike.
The faux Zaslav then mangles the first of several classic movie quotes, botching Rhett Butler’s famous...

More than 100 artists contributed to our “Our Frasier Remake,” a frame-by-frame redo of a 1994 episode of NBC sitcom “Frasier,” with the Seattle psychiatrist reimagined as a Lego figure, as Claymation and a dazzling array of other animation styles.
The trailer for the indie project, which follows similar projects “Our Robocop Remake and “Our Footloose Remake,” dropped on Wednesday. It will premiere on Oct. 11 in theaters in Los Angeles, Seattle and Austin, the day before the official reboot, which sees Kelsey Grammer returning to his Emmy-winning role, debuts on Paramount+
“Our Frasier Remake” redoes the Season 1 finale, with 185 uniquely animated segments: A different artist is responsible for each section, reimagining it in their own visual style.
Creator/director Jacob Reed said the episode is “a thinly veiled question about whether or not a spin-off of ‘Cheers’ called ‘Frasier’ was worth it.”

It’s the biggest fans of a beloved TV show who are set up to be the most disappointed when a revival or reboot comes around. In some instances, die-hard devotees would rather see nothing at all than a season of television that diminishes their favorite characters. In the case of the Frasier reboot, one fan decided to create his own dream remake to soften the blow.
Jacob Reed’s Our Frasier Remake is a frame-by-frame recreation of “My Coffee With Niles,” the Frasier Season 1 finale, made from hundreds of six- to 12-second contributions from animators, puppeteers, filmmakers, illustrators, and other creatives. The script and storyboard stay the same, but the visuals of each section (which Reed calls batches) depict a different version of the scene and each character.
“It's kind of like if Adult Swim rebooted Frasier,” Reed tells Primetimer.

The upcoming Frasier revival will debut on Paramount+ next month, but there’s another Frasier project set to premiere the day before that might just catch your interest. Our Frasier Remake is a collaborative, animated art project that involves over a hundred filmmakers, animators, and visual artists recreating individual segments of an iconic Frasier episode.
The animated Frasier project will tackle the first season finale, My Coffee With Niles, and feature 185 chopped-up segments of the episode. A different artist tackled each section, which brings a multitude of different visual styles and mediums. The original episode found Frasier wondering whether or not he was truly happy, which Our Frasier Remake creator Jacob Reed believes was “a thinly veiled question about whether or not a spin-off of Cheers called Frasier was worth it. The writers strike took to the skies of Los Angeles on Monday, as a plane flew around all of the major production studios with a banner that read, “Pay the writers, you AI-holes.”
What started out as a joke among friends quickly became a reality — and a show of union solidarity — when writer and director Jacob Reed shared the idea on social media.
“Mostly, there’s just so many great signs. I was like, ‘Someone should put one of these in the air. Is that possible? Could you get a skywriter?’ And it started as a joke on my ‘friends only’ Instagram. I had enough friends immediately just be like, ‘Yes, I would chip in. Yes. Tell me what you need,'” he told Deadline while on the picket line at Paramount on Monday.

Paramount+’s Mayor of Kingstown season two episode nine opens with Milo and Mike having a sit-down. Milo (Aidan Gillen) wants his bonds, worth $14 million, back in exchange for Iris. Mike (Jeremy Renner) agrees and gets Milo to commit to leaving Kingstown. Milo warns that if Mike goes back on their deal, he’ll make sure he suffers before he dies.
Bunny (Tobi Bamtefa) visits a gun shop right before it officially opens and pretends to be interested in purchasing a Sig. He makes a call, telling the shop owner he needs to check with his wife before buying it. But that’s also just an act. The call is a signal for his gang to crash a van into the store. The film “Taipei Suicide Story,” a drama about a “suicide hotel” in Taiwan, has won the top prize from the 2021 Slamdance Film Festival.
The film, written and directed by Keff, won the Narrative Grand Jury Prize Award as well as the Audience Award and the Acting Prize for the film’s star Tender Huang.
“Taipei Suicide Story” follows a receptionist at a suicide hotel who forms a fleeting friendship with a woman who can’t decide if she wants to live or die. The film was also a selection of Cannes 2020.
The Slamdance jurors described “Taipei Suicide Story” as a film that “is concise and emotionally effective as it portrays isolation with humanity and complex pathos.” The jury was composed of Carlos Aguilar, Kier-La Janisse and Jennifer Reeder, and the jury also gave an honorable mention to the film “A Family” directed by Jayden Stevens.

The Slamdance Film Festival unveiled winners for its 27th edition Thursday, with the compact drama Taipei Suicide Story directed by Keff taking both the Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award for narrative features and the best actor prize during a virtual awards ceremony.
The drama is about a receptionist at a suicide hotel in Taipei who forms a friendship over the course of one night with a guest who can’t decide if she wants to live or die. The pic, which also was in the official Cinéfondation selection of the 2020 Cannes Film Festival, runs 45 minutes.
Tender Huang, who plays the hotel receptionist, was named best actor during the ceremony wrapping this year’s edition, which ran as a virtual edition February 12-25.

The man who gave us cinema’s greatest werewolf now brings us a pretty lady with deer legs.
I love John Landis. I know not everyone shares this opinion. He has been controversial ever since his involvement in the Twilight Zone: The Movie accident that claimed the lives of his leading man, Vic Morrow, and co-stars Myca Dinh Le and Shin-Yi Chen, both of whom were children. It’s an impossible discussion to have in any kind of satisfying way here; there was an entire book written about it (Outrageous Conduct by Stephen Farber and Marc Green) and a lengthy court case at the end of which Landis was absolved of legal responsibility. Clearly it was still a tragedy, and clearly Landis shares in the blame for an accident that could have been avoided. I only bring it up here to provide some context for Landis’ career and to let you,...
