There’s currently no plans to release story Dlc for Halo 5: Guardians according to the game’s creative director, Josh Holmes. Speaking in an interview with Red Bull (you can read the full thing here), Holmes said that: “While we’re always looking for new ways to expand the Halo universe, we do not currently have any plans to release future campaign content for Halo 5: Guardians.”
Considering that Halo 5’s campaign is already reported to be around 10-15 hours long depending on playstyle, one can hardly be surprised that 343 feel that they don’t need to add any more content to an already meaty (by first-person shooter standards) experience.
So that’s story Dlc off the table at least for the foreseeable future, but Guardians is still going to be receiving a whole bunch of post-launch support in the form of multiplayer add-ons, including 18+ free maps. Don’t...

Halo 5: Guardians has officially gone gold, 343 Industries head Josh Holmes has revealed. In a blog post on Xbox Wire, Holmes wasted no time in thanking the fans for supporting the studio over the three years it has taken for them to develop the game:
Today I’m excited to announce that Halo 5: Guardians has officially gone gold!
This is the culmination of an incredible three-year journey for our team. Together we set out to accomplish an ambitious vision and deliver a Halo game built from the ground up for the Xbox One. Now as we near the release of the game on October 27, we couldn’t be more excited to share the results with you, the fans.
Additionally, Holmes states that the sequel to Halo 4 will have both pre and post-launch support, with the former being utilized as a means to add content for Arena Multiplayer and the new,...

If you enjoy map voting don't get your hopes up too high for Halo 5 Guardians. There won't be any.
343 Studios Josh Holmes was asked via Twitter if there would be any sort of map voting, or veto, between matches.
"No voting or veto," came the reply, "just straight rotation".
That means that whatever map pops up is what everyone will be playing. There has been no official reasoning for it, but we can look at both sides of the argument here.
On one side it helps prevent burn out of the same maps being rotated constantly. Fan favorite maps are returning, and some other maps are sure to be better than others, and with a voting system that means we constantly get stuck in them. For example bigger battles over several modes, but constantly being stuck to one map in Slayer gets old fast.
On the flip side is the fact people can leave.

Considered by many to be a staple of the series, 343 Industries has explained its reasoning for dropping the beloved split-screen feature in Halo 5: Guardians via a recent blog post. Taking to Halo Waypoint, the studio noted that the tough but necessary decision had to be made, lest the inclusion of split-screen compromise the overall playing experience.
That’s according to Executive Producer Josh Holmes, who empathized with long-time fans of the shooter franchise, but admitted that the creative team couldn’t shoehorn in the feature without limiting the scale and scope of Guardians.
“The decision to remove split-screen support from Halo 5: Guardians was one of the most difficult ones we’ve ever had to make as a studio. We know that for many of our fans, Halo has meant playing together with friends in the same room. We all have great memories of past Halo split-screen multiplayer matches.

It was during E3 2015 that 343 Industries formally revealed that Halo 5: Guardians would indeed include microtransactions, and as the first entry in the beloved sci-fi franchise to do so, the reaction was understandably mixed. Arriving in the form of Req packs – the Requisition System, as it is formally known – the premium items will comprise weapons, gear and certain cosmetic items.
One of the overriding concerns was in relation to how the microtransactions will be implemented and, crucially, whether they would unbalance the multiplayer component – particularly in the new-fangled Warzone mode. In response to these pre-emptive apprehensions, 343 Designer Josh Holmes revealed that these Req bonuses won’t be available from the get-go; rather, players will have to complete various objectives and accumulate the right amount of energy to put them into use.
“Deployment of Req items is limited by the Req Level and Energy systems that govern the Warzone experience,” Holmes wrote.

Barely a day has passed since the revelation of Halo 5: Guardians‘ microtransactions – or Requisition System (Req, officially – and fans have already vented their frustration on multiple forums across the four corners of the Internet.
In fact, this backlash was vocal enough to force 343 into action, with Development Chief Josh Holmes taking to Halo Waypoint to offer an explanation behind the feature’s divisive addition.
“The Req System is designed to generously reward players with a steady stream of content to keep gameplay fresh. We’ll be continuing to release new Req content, post launch, so there are always new toys to play with. All Req content in the game can be earned through the regular course of play in multiplayer.”
As Holmes alludes to, the Req packs can be purchased using real-world money as a “matter of convenience,” and a small chunk of proceedings will go directly to the...

In a recent blog post, 343 Industries has unveiled a string of changes to the company’s creative team — all the while teasing the first glimpse of Halo 5 on Xbox One. The Microsoft-owned studio, which has worked on titles such as Halo 4 and Halo: Reach, has appointed former LucasArts alumnus Tim Longo as creative director, allowing Josh Holmes to shift to executive producer.
Having contributed to notable releases such as Star Wars: Republic Commando and last year’s Tomb Raider reboot, Longo was recruited by 343 Industries back in May, where his creative vision is now focused on a next-gen Halo title. This news also marks the departure of art director Kenneth Scott, who was one of the founding members of the studio, who will now operate as a visual design consultant for the company.

The Covenant are back and they're not alone in this gameplay sequence from early in the Halo 4 campaign.
Slowly, surely, and somewhat confusingly talk show hosts have become part of the vanguard for big game reveals. Consider it a given that the major game announcement or preview may not necessarily happen in Game Informer, on G4, or even at your trusted MTV Multiplayer, but on the likes of Late Night With Jimmy Fallon*.
That's... cool? Yeah, it's definitely cool, I'm just weird and crotchety about where games and how games are shown off, but Jimmy's a proven big nerd for games and that enthusiasm is often palpable as he demos a new title or shows off a trailer on his show. He's joined this time out by 343 Industries' Creative Director Josh Holmes who walks Jimmy and the viewers through the beginning of the campaign for Halo 4.

Halo 4 will be the first game in the franchise developed by 343 Industries and will see series regular Master Chief return to the spotlight for an all-new adventure. The highly-anticipated title isn't expected on store shelves until the fall, but the folks at 343 Industries have released a new trailer giving us our first look at things to come.
To kick things off Master Chief is getting some slick new armor that features much more detail than previous designs, along with an updated Battle Rifle that is looking very cool. Multiplayer maps will also be a little different this time. In previous Halo titles the multiplayer maps were pulled from levels in the campaign, but Halo 4 will feature multiplayer maps designed specifically for online battles.
It all seems well and good, but who exactly is Master Chief going up against in Halo 4? Well, the trailer doesn't give any real specifics, but according to creative director Josh Holmes,...
