The Israeli black comedy “Ducks – An Urban Legend,” which has its world premiere in International Competition at Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, has debuted its trailer. Fortissimo Films is handling international sales.
The film, directed by Shahar Rozen, is set in the Tel Aviv neighborhood called HaTikva, which is Hebrew for “Hope,” and centers on Yossi, Chris, Asaf, Anna and Elias.
Yossi loves Chris and puts together their wedding without any means. When Asaf’s grandfather dies, Anna and Asaf go to extreme lengths to keep the old man’s pension. Elias is a hero by accident. They all have a moment of grace in their lives in which they seem to reach a turning point, but in the end, they all just float, like rubber ducks in the ocean.
Rozen comments: “As a human being you have different roles in life. You are a daughter or a son, a wife or husband,...

Slippery was the word to describe many of the characters on Queen Sugar Season 7 Episode 2.
From Zane, to Roy Miller, Parker and Sam, and the entire St. Josephine parish council, slippery was an adjective that could describe them all.
We'll start with the council meeting. There were two reasons why I suspected this vote would go poorly for the Bordelons and their community.
First was how Sam asked Violet if she was ready to accept the vote because he knew he was. His confidence hinted that Sam had this vote bought, paid for, and already in his back pocket.
Secondly, this is only episode two of the season. If the Bordelons got a win this early, what would they have to fight for over the next several installments?
This land needs to remain untouched. It is the final resting place for the victims of the Thibodaux massacre, but it is also my family home.

Ofir Raul Graizer ‘s poignant feature debut, ‘The Cakemaker’, is Israel’s official Oscar® entry for Best Foreign Language Film. I rank it among the top contenders ‘Never Look Away’, ‘Burning’, ‘Cold War’, ‘Roma’, ‘The Heiresses’, and ‘Birds of Passage’.
I was so moved by the film and so identified with it that I jumped at the chance to interview Ofir and actor Tim Kalkhof. Our interview became a conversation that lasted several hours as we first sipped wine and then ordered pizza at the wonderful Caffé Roma in Beverly Hills.
The Cakemaker is an extraordinary movie for many reasons. First and foremost, its emotional resonance is so in tune to many people. Film writer-director Ofir Raul Graizer and the costar of his film Tim Kalkhof, can recount many stories of people coming up to them tearfully or hugging them spontaneously after having seen the film at some point since...

Baltimore Ravens safety Eric Weddle says it's Ridiculous the NFL just hit Jimmy Smith with a 4-game suspension for "arguing" with his ex-girlfriend ... considering the incident never turned physical. "It’s hard to fathom arguing with your [significant other], never touching her and that gets you a suspension like this," Weddle told the Baltimore Sun. Smith was punished by the league after an investigation showed he used "threatening and emotionally abusive behavior" directed at his ex-girlfriend. Smith claims he never touched her.

A forbidden love story takes a wholly unexpected — but richly rewarding — turn in Ofir Raul Graizer’s upcoming Karlovy Vary premiere, “The Cakemaker.” The film follows shy Berlin baker Thomas (Tim Kalkhof) who embarks on a passion and special affair with Oran (Roy Miller), a businessman visiting from Jerusalem who falls for both Thomas and his delicious baked goods.
Their story is cut short, however, when Oran is killed in a car accident and a devastated Thomas cooks up a plan to help his grieving family (and maybe his own broken heart) by traveling to Jerusalem and offering up his expertise to Oran’s widow Anat (Sarah Adler), who owns a struggling cafe. Of course, Thomas can’t explain who exactly he is or what he knows about Oran, and his nationality adds another layer to his evolving relationship with Anat. What will be revealed? And what will happen once those secrets are told?...
