First came the reveal that "Star Wars Battlefront" offers no single player campaign and little in the way of options for those not wanting to play multiplayer. Then EA revealed "Call of Duty: Black Ops III" will completely forgo a single player mode for its PS3 & 360 versions.
Now, Ubisoft has revealed that the upcoming "Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege" won't sport a single player campaign mode in any of its versions which hits stores December 1st. Speaking at Egx 2015 to PCGamesN, art director Scott Mitchell says:
"There is no story mode per se. You go through training, where you get to experience different operators and their devices. You can play against enemy AI in co-op through all the maps. You can customise matches, so that's what we're offering on the single-player side of things.
It's a pretty good training ground, and on top or that you're unlocking the same...

Ubisoft's Rainbow Six: Siege will be multiplayer only with no single-player campaign, its art director has confirmed...
If you were hoping for a solo campaign in Rainbow Six: Siege, you're sadly out of luck. According to art director Scott Mitchell, who spoke to PCGamesN at the Eurogamer Expo (or Egx to its friends), Rainbow Six: Siege will have "no story mode per se."
Instead, the tactical shooter's focus will be on its multiplayer mode, though Mitchell adds that Siege will have training missions and AI enemies for anyone who wants to play offline.
"You go through training, where you get to experience different operators and their devices," Mitchell says. "You can play against enemy AI in co-op through all the maps. You can customise matches, so that’s what we’re offering on the single-player side of things."

So what’s the story on the campaign of Rainbow Six: Siege? Well, there isn’t one, according to word coming out of Egx 2015.
What Culture reports that the game will not come with a traditional story mode. Instead, the first-person tactical shooter will feature a tutorial for players to get acclimated to the game’s controls before breaking down doors with their squad in team death matches.
According to comments reportedly made by Rainbow Six: Siege art director Scott Mitchell, the game will provided a customizable tour of its core mechanics prior to dropping players into multiplayer:
“There is no story mode per se,” Mitchell says. “You go through training, where you get to experience different operators and their devices. You can play against enemy AI in co-op through all the maps. You can customize matches, so that’s what we’re offering on the single-player side of things.

What is it with modern-day shooters going down the ‘no story’ route?
Titanfall, Evolve, Star Wars Battlefront – now Ubisoft’s latest franchise-resurrecting Rainbow Six has just confirmed it’ll be running with a heavy focus on essentially being multiplayer-only. Sure you have access to offline and ‘single player content’ in the form of maps filled with bots, but unlike the cancelled R6: Patriots that looked to be delivering a sold story, Siege will have no such thing.
Speaking at Egx 2015, Scott Mitchell, Art Director mentioned,
