On this episode of Suits, "Mudmare," Louis does his best to accept Alex, Mike takes a pro bono case that causes conflict within the firm and Rachel and Donna struggle in their new roles.
Louis may be happy that Alex Williams isn't going to be a partner, but he's still feeling threatened by Harvey's pal joining the firm. He tells his shrink he even had a "mudmare" during which his long-time fantasy of going mudding with Harvey was finally realized, only to have it soiled (pun intended) by Alex's arrival. Louis continues to be his own worst enemy as he lets his emotions overwhelm him. His doctor advises Louis to use this opportunity to make a new friend. It's a chance for him to have one more friend instead of one less.

Is it possible to make a documentary about the future? Following a widely-praised festival run that included screenings at Locarno, Tiff, and Nyff, Isiah Medina’s debut feature 88:88 was recently made available on YouTube. Since then, I’ve encountered questions asking whether or not 88:88 is a collapse or amalgamation of modern technology, and the seemingly contradictory nature of such inquiries emphasizes only a portion of the blurring of distinctions Medina’s cinema orchestrates. The Head of Programming at Locarno, Mark Peranson, called Medina the “most adventurous and contemporary practitioner of the avant-garde of his generation.” Perhaps the most contemporary avant-garde filmmaker is the most suited to draw the cinematic contours of our collective future. Medina is now in the process of adapting Nick Srnicek and Alex Williams’s Inventing the Future, a manifesto that insists on the emancipatory role of technology as we push towards the full automation of labor.

This past Monday at an event during the Banff World Media Festival, CineCoup 2015 shocked the crowd by offering what's known as The Big Deal to two projects: "Hellmington" and "High School Brawl." Each will receive up to $1,000,000 in production financing and a guaranteed “theatrical event” release in Cineplex theatres. This exciting result was made possible by a freshly announced financing partnership between CineCoup and Toronto/Calgary based alternative asset manager Clairwood Capital.
"Hellmington" and "High School Brawl,"and their two warrior-class filmmaking teams, earned The Big Deal accolade by equally impressing a panel of industry heavy-hitters, including producer Dan Goldberg ("Meatballs," "Hangover" trilogy), Michael Kennedy, Evp Filmed Entertainment, Cineplex Entertainment and Susan Curran, Executive Director of Marketing and Acquisitions, Anchor Bay Canada at the Live pitch event, the final phase of CineCoup’s 12-week film accelerator. The pitch included a video highlight reel and an intense Q&A between the panel and each of the finalists.
“We went looking for Canada’s best emerging filmmakers and genre projects, and these teams brought it! "Hellmington" and "High School Brawl" pushed the limits at every turn and we’re ready to help bring their vision to the big screen,” said J Joly CEO and Founder of CineCoup. “We’re amazed by the level of creativity that has surfaced from this cohort and are excited by our new partnership with Clairwood Capital to help expand from single pictures to a slate.”
"We’re ecstatic and can’t quite think straight!," said Alex Williams, Justin Hewitt and Michelle Aseltine of "Hellmington." "To think that we’ve come this far after only 12 twelve weeks and have the opportunity to scare audiences with our vision is amazing."
"We’ve been making movies together since high school and every filmmaking experience we’ve had has led us to this amazing moment. We are blown away!," said Aaron Kurmey, Kevin Johnson and Ryan Hatt of "High School Brawl."
“CineCoup’s lean and mean approach to filmmaking coupled with its unprecedented support of filmmakers aligns perfectly with our approach,” said Glenn Paradis, President and CEO, Clairwood Capital Management, Inc. “We’re eager to get production opportunities off the ground for additional Final 5 teams that show great promise.”
This week also marks the 1-year theatrical anniversary of CineCoup’s inaugural Big Deal,"WolfCop," the global cult phenomenon that serves as a benchmark for today’s Big Deal recipients. "WolfCop 2" will start shooting this summer and to kickoff the occasion CineCoup has launched an Indiegogo campaign that offers fans the opportunity to cast a celebrity cameo in the dirtier, hairier sequel: http://ow.ly/NZurR .
This announcement is the culmination of a demanding 12 weeks in CineCoup’s accelerator program. Close to 100 filmmaking teams from across Canada applied with a concept trailer for a feature film. Each week, filmmakers produced content to package their projects and build audiences on CineCoup’s social web platform. Indie film fans watched videos and earned votes to help teams advance through several gateways.
CineCoup is also actively pursuing partnerships to launch the platform into new media verticals and global markets.

In this timely biopic Alex Williams plays the young Julian Assange, the notorious driving force behind revelatory net sensation Wikileaks. Oz writer-director Robert Connolly sources the Swedish rebel's disdain for authority to a youth spent fleeing through the Australian desert from a white supremacist cult with his bohemian mother (Rachel Griffiths). Anthony Lapaglia plays the Melbourne cop technologically outflanked by the resourceful youngster, who coldly rejects a young family to pursue his conspiracy obsession.

This account of Julian Assange’s formative years, adapted from Suelette Dreyfus’ novel, opens with a pre-text admitting that some details have been “modified for dramatic purposes”, an uneasy disclaimer in even meticulously-constructed features made for theatrical distribution, let alone those with the less-attractive plaudits of having first aired recently on Australian TV. Taking place in 1989 Melbourne, Underground traces 17-year-old computer hacker Julian’s (Alex Williams) activist beginnings, as he is raised by his single mother Christine (Rachel Griffiths), and falls for a cute local, Electra (Laura Wheelwright), while trying to keep the authorities at bay.
Director Robert Connolly offers up a tinge of The Social Network’s sexed-up style, but he’s not fortunate enough to have been blessed with a Sorkin-grade screenplay. Particularly weak is the depiction of Julian’s familial disarray – in which his father appears to run a cult of some kind,...

Well, dip me in honey and throw me to the lesbians, it seems that there are two biopic films, after all! We recently reported that the Julian Assange biopic has gotten a release date, and that Assange is played by freshly graduated Aussie actor, Alex Williams, so you can imagine my confusion when I got this piece of news.
In this Dreamworks’ still untitled Jullian Assange biopic, Assange was first rumored to be played by Jeremy Renner, but it seems that the tide has turned and now the race includes Sherlock star, Benedict Cumberbatch and Joel Kinnaman (will play Alex Murphy in RoboCop).
According to Deadline, Benedict Cumberbatch is now in discussions to take the lead role of Assange in the biopic, with a script by Josh Singer based on the books WikiLeaks: Inside Julian Assange’s War On Secrecy, by David Leigh and Luke Harding, and Inside WikiLeaks: My...

A corporation as vast and impressive as the Walt Disney Company would, you’d think, have a massive amount of interest in releasing its many creations. People love Disney for various reasons, and are typically happy to part with a few bucks to own part of what made up their childhood or what’s defining their children’s lives. And yet, there are many forgotten or lost bits and pieces of Disney history that the Internet is enabling all of us to find in either the most random of places or at the most random of times. A few months ago, for example, a never-officially-released and somewhat controversial behind-the-scenes documentary of The Emperor’s New Groove, from the perspective of the musician Sting (who worked on the film), made its way to YouTube for a few hours.
