The famous Punjabi song has got another version, this time by music composer duo Javed-Mohsin, who have given music in Bollywood films like ‘Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari’ and ‘Shershaah’. Titled ‘Kaali Teri’, the song features Suraj Jumani and Riva Arora showing off their dance moves. Suraj was earlier seen in a song called ‘I Love Dubai’, which was a tribute to the beautiful city of Dubai starring Sania Mirza, Chris Gayle and many popular artists from Dubai.
Speaking about his experience of working on ‘Kaali Teri’, Suraj said: “He had a blast shooting with the magical duo of Bollywood Javed-Mohsin and is grateful to the director Mudassar Khan for making it so much easier and for bringing life to the track.”
‘Kaali Teri’ has been sung by Brijesh Shandilya, Ritu Pathak and Deane Sequeira and has been penned by Danish Sabri. The song has been directed and choreographed by Mudassar Khan,...

After seeing the humorous trailer of Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, featuring Ayushmann Khurrana as the ‘not-so-hot’ Mudit Sharma, and Bhumi Pednekar as the ‘not-so-cool’ Sugandha Joshi we were intrigued to see what they would come up with next. Well, now the makers of the quirky entertainer have unveiled the first song ‘Rocket Saiyyan’ from the movie.
Shubh Mangal Saavdhan takes you to the practical side of romance as Mudit and Sugandha enter into an awkward period between engagement and marriage.
Going by the movie theme, ‘Rocket Saiyyan’ is a quirky, foot tapping number which comes at a critical juncture in the film. It describes Sugandha’s point of view describing her ever anxious ‘Saiyan’ always in a hurry driving headlong into any situation like a rocket on fire. While Sugandha feels ignored as Mudit has taken it on his ego to solve the problem, Mudit assures her of his love.

Bollywood had an interesting year of music, whether it was A.R.Rahman delivering a cohesive soundtrack in Tamasha or Amit Trivedi conjuring up the jazz and swing sounds of Bombay’s jazz age in Bombay Velvet. There was also less pressure on one music director to deliver when multiple artists contributed to the film’s hits like Roy’s ‘Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan’ by Meet Bros, and ‘Sooraj Dooba Hai’ by Amaal Mallik. 2015 was definitely a year for experimentation for music directors, which we completely appreciated including the retro albums like Prem Ratan Dhan Payo with the title track capturing the nation on Dubsmash. Read on for our picks of the year, and let us know what your faves were.

With Nikhil Advani’s Katti Batti, expectations are high for Shankar, Ehsaan, and Loy to deliver another great soundtrack since the melodious gem of D-Day. It’s a big release for Imran Khan, who’s come back after his paternity leave and Kangana Ranaut, who’s following up the critical acclaim of Queen. Since it’s Advani’s second film of the month, we can be assured that Katti Batti will be a better soundtrack than the formulaic songs of Hero. The songs on this album are immediately catchy whether it’s the clubby Sarfira, or the cheeky Lip to Lip, there’s a song for everyone to enjoy.
First off, we have Sarfira, which immediately has you wanting to groove the night away. The production mixes the typical electronic style with dub-step beats, but it’s the chorus that is instantly addictive. Siddharth Mahadevan is fast becoming one of my favourite playback singers,...

Tevar is the fourth remake of 2003 Telugu blockbuster Okkadu originally starring Mahesh Babu, Bhumika Chawla and Prakash Raj. Arjun Kapoor (2 States), Sonakshi Sinah (Lootera) and Manoj Bajpai (Rajneeti) take on the respective pivotal roles for the Hindi remake under the banner of Sanjay Kapoor Entertainment Pvt Ltd.
It features music by Sajid-Wajid (Wanted, Dabangg) and lyrics by Kausar Munir with the vocal talents of Shafqat Amanat Ali (‘Manchala’ – Hasse Toh Phasse), Shruti Hasan (‘Alvida’ – D-Day), Ritu Pathak (‘Jalebi Bai’ – Double Dhamaal) amongst others.
Superman introduces our larger than life protagonist with much fan fare that is not far from typical. It is a decent enough number but suffers from two drawbacks. Kausar Munir’s lyrics are rife with the right amount youthful arrogance but the line, ‘jo leve panga, kar doon maa behn’, is arguably in bad taste if not down right disrespectful to women. Secondly, the track is right...

First up we have Aaj Dil Shayarana performed by the talented Arijit Singh. I like how the song starts off, with the nice use of the harmonium. This is then followed up with some nice vocals from Arijit which flows well throughout. Though the song is somewhat cheesy, I still think it is respectably catchy and will appeal to the masses.

2011 was a great year for music in the Hindi film industry with an eclectic mix of styles, moods, vibes, beats, fresh new sounds and cool grooves. The songs ranged from romantic ballads, to full on rock, to the playful, the funny, the traditional, the internationally flavored ones and everything in-between and even some with the track tinged with a little bit of each. So many of the soundtracks this year were so good that it was not just one song that was killer good, it was most of them. Because so many albums this year were such a good collection of brilliant songs, think Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Delhi Belly, Rockstar and more, we had a tough time limiting ourselves to 25 Best Songs of the year, so we thought why try and decided to go with 50! We now present the 50 best songs of 2011!

Our leading ladies and item girls will be nowhere near half as attractive without the talented singers that voice their musical numbers. What’s more, while our cinematic experiences with our on-screen goddesses have a time limit, our playback goddesses are always with us in iPods, tablets, computers, radios and more. This year Bollyspice salutes the 10 female playback singers who astounded us with their vocals throughout the year.
10. Neha Bhasin
Ms, Bhasin (of ‘Viva!’ and ‘Kuch Khaas’ (Fashion) fame) epitomised the image of a Punjabi rock chick and commanded a nation to rock and roll with her in ‘Dhunki’ (Mere Brother Ki Dulhan). While Katrina Kaif may/may not have done justice to her vocalisations, Neha sure did make a place for herself in our hearts and on this list.
9. Nandani Srikar
Ms. Srikar successfully vocalised a classical indian/rock fusion with ‘Bhare Naina’ (Ra.One) this year and proved that...

Since the day Dharma Productions’ unveiled the first look of their 2012 remake of yesteryear hit Agneepath, one thing was for sure – that the film will be devoid of Dharma Productions’ trademark extravagant song sequences. That is, stars lavishly dressed in Manish Malhotras dancing to Farah Khan’s directions with 1,000,000 extras in the background to a familiar tune claiming to be new.
Accordingly, audiences and critics alike had no hopes or expectations of a typical Dharma Productions soundtrack from Agneepath, a presumption that was affirmed when Ajay and Atul Gogvale of Singham fame were announced as the music directors of the film rather than the likes of Shankar-Eshaan-Loy and Vishal-Shekar. On the outset Agneepath’s soundtrack is made up of 6 tracks, no remixes, and features the vocal talents of Sunidhi Chauhan , Shreya Ghosal, Roop Kumar Rathod (Tujh Mein Rab Dikta Hai – Rab Ne Bana De Jodi), Sonu Nigam , Sukwinder Singh,...

If you’ve seen any of the promos for Players, you’ll already know that the film – a remake of the classic heist flick “The Italian Job” – has been given a thoroughly slick makeover by the directing duo Abbas-Mustan, who appear to have created one of their characteristic thrillers with a cyber-cool techno edge.
With Pritam attached to the project, the Players soundtrack has been anticipated for a while now. Pritam’s last work with Abbas-Mustan, the Race soundtrack, was super popular – the question is: can he repeat that magic with his work for Players?
Jis Jagah Pe Khatam is the track that underscores the uber-cool trailer that introduces us to the key players of Players. A funky electronic groove, featuring an array of techno flourishes and an anthemic chanted chorus, the tune is almost clinical and a bit claustrophobic in its vibe – it feels super restrained and reigned in...

Thank You, this title will surely ring bells for all good and humorous reasons, as it comes from the stables of a filmmaker who has been consistent in delivering out frothy slapstick entertainers. Director Anees Bazmee pitches out another rib-tickler that has all the ingredients to attract footfalls into the theatres. Ensemble of bankable A-list actors, grandeur of exotic foreign locations, crazy slapstick comedy and to spice it all, it has Pritam's peppy music to make everything notable in days to come. In Bazmee's flicks music has always been mechanical or situational but still have grounded screenplay to its fullest potential. Thank You opens to minimal musical expectations but all the above mentioned features makes it as one of most anticipated musical releases. Can this Thank You be another Welcome surprise for listeners? Just check this out... It all started off with rehashed version of 'Apni toh jaise taise'...
