Robert Zappia wrote the script from a story by himself, Earl Richey Jones, and Todd Jones. It follows Sister Ann (Byers), who devoutly believes performing exorcisms is her calling and studies at a school to master the ritual, confronts a demonic force that infests her school and has mysterious ties to her past.
Paul Brooks, Jessica Malanaphy, Todd Jones, and Earl Richey Jones are producing the film, which is expected to begin production later this year.

Exclusive: Former Paramount production chief Adam Goodman’s Invisible Narratives has teamed with Michael Bay to produce Songbird, a pandemic thriller that plans to take an unusual approach to shooting a movie in Los Angeles during the lockdown. It will begin production within five weeks, and might be the first film to shoot in the city.
The film will be directed by Adam Mason (Into The Dark), who wrote the script with Simon Boyes (Misconduct). The filmmakers are providing remote training for the actors. None of the participants would say exactly how they plan to shoot a movie at a time when the guilds are still compiling their own safety protocols so that production can resume. I’m told that the filmmakers behind Songbird have screened their plans by the guilds, and they are good to go.
The film is ostensibly a taut thriller in the spirit of Paranormal Activity and Cloverfield.

Director John M. Chu (G.I. Joe: Retaliation and Step Up franchise), music consultant Scooter Braun, and producer Jason Blum (Insidious and Paranormal Activity) are reaching out to fans of Jem to get involved in its creative process. They are also doing an Internet powered casting call for people who are a triple threat (sing, dance, act). Because 3 dudes making a movie based on a campy '80s cartoon based on a toy targeted at girls seemed weird, the second video highlights the women making the film, like producer Jessica L. Hall (Sinister and Insidious: Chapter 2).
Even with creator of Jem Christy Marx calling foul on the movie's production (read more on that at io9), most fans are still pretty excited that it’s even being made. They are moving on the production pretty quickly, so if you would like to be involved, go to...
