DC Comics new miniseries title “Superman Lost”, available March 14, 2023 is written by Christopher Priest and illustrated by Carlo Pagulayan, with ‘Clark Kent’ thrown into a unique set of circumstances, after a ‘Justice League’ mission leaves him suddenly stranded in space for twenty years:
“…after ‘Superman’ is called away on a routine ‘Justice League’ mission, ‘Lois Lane’ awakens to find a complete stranger standing in her living room. The ‘Man of Steel’, home much sooner than expected, reveals he has, in fact, been lost in space for 20 years. This year has seen the debut of a major new character in the Bat-corner of the DC universe, one who’s been grabbing a lot of headlines. Punchline is the Joker’s latest girlfriend and partner-in-crime, a replacement for former beau Harley Quinn. Intended as the polar opposite of Dr. Quinzel, the silent serial killer has been created by James Tynion IV, Guillem March and Carlo Pagulayan for their current run on Batman, debuting in issue #89.
However, her instant popularity may mean a jump to the screen could be right around the corner. In fact, We Got This Covered has heard from our sources – the same ones who told us a Green Lantern show is coming to HBO Max and Robert Pattinson had beat out Nicholas Hoult for the role of Batman – that Warner Bros. already has plans to bring Punchline into the Dceu. At this early stage, all the options are being considered,...

When the news first broke that The Batman might feature the Dark Knight versus Deathstroke for the first time in a live-action film, fans went wild. These two have duked it out for years in the comic books and video games, but we’ve yet to see it on the big screen. With Matt Reeves rewriting Ben Affleck and Geoff Johns’ script from scratch, it seems like Slade Wilson might not make the cut anymore. And so, for now, our Death-Bat fix will have to come in the shape of Deathstroke #30, the start of the “Deathstroke vs. Batman” storyline.
While most first issues of six-part series are slow and steady, this one kicks off with a flurry. It’s an action-packed spectacle as Batman receives DNA test results suggesting that he isn’t Damian’s biological father – but Slade is. Rattled by the news, he intercepts Deathstroke on a mission,...

While we continue playing the “will he or won’t he?” game when it comes to whether director Matt Reeves will include Deathstroke in his upcoming film, The Batman, we can take solace in knowing that those two titans have other means of releasing their aggression on each other. We are, of course, referring to the very medium that spawned them: Comic books.
Speaking of which, the past few days have given fans much too be excited over, as word of a Deathstroke vs. Batman comic understandably sent everyone into a frenzy. And while the story is slated to kickoff this spring, DC Comics’ April solicitations have revealed that this is, in fact, not a new series as various outlets had reported, but rather, “a six-issue series-within-a-series.” With that, you can probably see how something got lost in translation.

Now that we know director Matt Reeves is knee-deep in formulating the story for The Batman, moviegoers and pundits alike can’t help but speculate which villains he’ll utilize. Will he retain Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke, whom we know to be a product of Ben Affleck and Geoff Johns’ canned screenplay? Or will he play it safe by incorporating fan favorite baddies like the Joker and Harley Quinn?
Regardless of whatever eventually ends up on the silver screen, comic book fans are apparently in for one hell of a treat in the immediate future. We say that because, according to Bleeding Cool, one of the bloodiest rematches that the DC Universe could ever possibly hope to produce will soon be arriving in the form of Deathstroke Vs. Batman.

While everyone has been raving about “The Button,” a better event has been taking place in the form of “The Lazarus Contract.” It might not be lenticular, but it’s certainly been spectacular. Jam packed with action, fun, mystery, and a selection of exciting characters, it’s everything that we’ve come to expect from Rebirth so far. In Deathstroke #19, part three of this riveting storyline takes us to the darker side of things.
Considering this title is Deathstroke, it’s only fair that this issue primarily focuses on the man without mercy Slade Wilson. While we do get to see enough of the two Titans teams in the book, we’re treated to more of Slade’s history – including the nature of the mysterious deal that he made with Dick Grayson years ago. Additionally, we discover what sort of a father he was to...

Things are certainly picking up for Slade Wilson, as he’ll soon find himself as the lynchpin in DC’s crossover event this May, “The Lazarus Contract.” Set to span four books – Titans, Teen Titans, Deathstroke and a Teen Titans Annual – it will place Wally West directly in the crosshairs of the world’s deadliest assassin, who aims to resurrect the original Ravager, his son Grant.
Luckily, we’ll get a great sense of cohesion when you take into account that the regular writers for each participating series – Dan Abnett, Benjamin Percy and Christopher Priest – will join their great minds and co-write every issue that’s part of the crossover.
Suffice it to say, this project couldn’t come at a more opportune time when you consider that the animated film Teen Titans: The Judas...

Comic Book Reviews: DC Round Up Week 09-14-2016
DC is settling into its new focused style of content storytelling, and producing some fantastic stories thanks to the new approach. While mostly everything has been a hit, there have been a few snags as well. One issue I keep having is trying to figure out how it all “fits” together in a bigger picture. Some books seem closer connected others; some appear not connected all to the larger DC Universe. This might not be a problem for most, it can be a little jarring for me, when I’m reading Batgirl is running around Japan in her book, but is also hanging out with Huntress and Black Canary in the Birds of Prey series, while appearing in Nightwing and referencing her time currently in Japan, but Black Canary appears in Green Arrow without any indication she’s even been to Gotham or around Batgirl.

Comic Book Reviews: DC Comics Round Up Week 08-24-2016
Recently I put up an article here on Lrm about getting into Batman for new or casual readers (and to an extent, some of the more regular comic book readers out there). I broke it down to three good jumping on points, of which Tom King’s "Batman: Rebirth #1" was used. Now with some of the "Rebirth" books getting near issue six, I can say almost (Almost, not All!) all of the official "Rebirth" books have been an excellent introduction to the series for new readers. On that front, DC has been hugely successful (and the sales numbers are showing it). While continuity is still a bit funky, and events within titles don’t really seem to match up in a macro sense, each individual series has been a blast to read. While I am still reading Marvel books,...

Convergence is officially underway in the Universe of DC Comics as issue 1 hits newsstands. We’ve heard it before and I’m sure we’ll all hear it again. Probably not, but the whole temporarily earth-shattering event can be a lot of fun to take in as it unfolds before us in the meantime.
The entire DC Universe, from the dawn of time to the present, must fight to survive against a threat that bends the Multiverse to its will. Our super heroes from every era and every alternate world are all brought together for Convergence! The stakes have never been higher or more deadly!

Published by DC Comics
DC’s latest event comic reaches its second (technically third) issue and continues the trend of disappointment. Despite a star studded cast of the excellent Earth 2 hero roster, Convergence has had very little to do despite all the publicity hype and the bringing in of countless parts of DC’s history. With so many great stories on the table, it’s a shame that this story ends up so empty.
The plot follows a bundle of the surviving heroes of the weekly series Earth 2: World’s End who are cast adrift on the sentient planet Telos which has been used as a dumping ground by Brainiac of old and forgotten cities. Unfortunately much of this is under cut by the lack...

Convergence #1
Written Jeff King & Scott Lobdell
Pencils by Carlo Pagulayan; inks by Jason Paz
Colors by Aspen Mlt’s John Starr & Peter Steigerwald
Published by DC Comics
After a rather uneventful #0 issue, DC’s big Convergence event starts in full. For those not in the know, Telos, a living planet, has served as Brainiac’s dumping ground captured cities. With Brainiac dead, Telos takes his master’s plan in a new sinister direction sets the cities to full-scale war with each other and only one may survive. What throws a wrench into the works is the arrival of Val-Zod, Thomas Wayne, Alan Scott, Jay Garrick, Dick Grayson, and Yolanda Montez. They’ve been saved from death at the hands of Darkseid but now find themselves at the center of Convergence. Given they’ve been trapped in Earth 2: World’s End for six months, this must be like a holiday for them.

Reality is as spotty as cell phone reception, and there's no telling when a huge cataclysmic event—a Crisis, if you will— is going to breeze through like a hurricane, making a mess of things and entirely changing the history of all your favorite characters. DC's much-ballyhooed New 52 reboot was the result of an event like this, which scrapped everything that came before to start again from square one. However, this left readers with lots of questions about which classic or pivotal stories had happened in this new landscape. They...

There's another "Castle"-derived graphic novel, "Unholy Storm," coming this spring. This marks the fourth illustrated version of a Derrick Storm novel and the 13th Richard Castle book overall. Without much information about the story's content, it's fair to judge this book by its cover.
So how does "Unholy Storm" compare to other "Castle" titles? Take a look at all of them here and then vote in the poll.
Note: Obviously, Richard Castle is not a real person and therefore has little to do directly with the production of these books. But "Castle" refuses to admit otherwise, so just go with it.

Marvel continues to prepare readers for their upcoming wave of titles to be released under the Marvel Now! banner with the following pieces of concept art from new Iron Man series. As a character who’s no stranger to wearing many different variations of armor, Tony Stark will be donning two very different Iron Man suits in the first few issues of the new title. Series writer Kieron Gillen explains that Iron Man will often be wearing a one of several different suits of armor depending one which is better matched to handle whatever situation or adversary he’s confronted with.
The new pieces of concept art from illustrator Carlo Pagulayan reveal two very different styles of armor; one being a heavy armor suit while the other focuses on stealth capabilities.

Red Hulk (or "Rulk" as he's sometimes referred to by fans) didn't start off as the most popular of characters, but ol' General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross has since made quite an impact with his own solo series and roles in both Avengers and Avenging Spider-Man. In some ways, he's actually taken the place of the original Green Skinned Goliath, with major roles in the likes of Avengers Vs. X-Men. As the upcoming Marvel Now! relaunch draws closer, it looks as if the publishers may be getting ready to take him out of the spotlight. This October, Hulk becomes Red She Hulk as of #58. According to reports from the "Marvel's Next Big Thing" panel at the San Diego Comic-Con, "Red She Hulk (Betty Ross) will be on a mission for an as-yet-unrevealed organization that puts her...

Boy, howdy! If you're a fan of attractive nice guy and Joss Whedon man-muse Nathan Fillion (Firefly), do I have some news for you. Marvel is doing a hardcover graphic novel "adaptation" of author Richard Castle's Deadly Storm mystery novel.
Richard Castle is Fillion's character on ABC television show Castle. Richard Castle does not exist, but you can get a few of "his" mystery novels on Amazon and in bookstores, written as meta tie-ins.
Deadly Storm is based on Castle's Derrick Storm series, which hasn't been written in the real world (the books that have been written in real life focus on presumably sexy female cop Nikki Heat and her interactions with a writer, whom Castle is said to base on himself--confused yet?). The Derrick Storm action novels, of which Deadly Storm is only the first, are earlier Castle works--according to the tv show's lore.

We might not get to see Nathan Fillion suit up as Green Lantern, Hawkeye, or any of the other comic book characters we keep suggesting him for, but it looks like he'll get a different sort of crossover with the comics world in the near future.
Announced via press release today, Marvel Entertainment and ABC Studios are partnering to publish a graphic novel based on "Castle," the hit television series in which Fillion plays celebrated mystery author Richard Castle. The graphic novel will be titled "Castle: Richard Castle’s Deadly Storm," and feature the protagonist of Richard Castle's novels, Derrick Storm.
And while that might be an appealing prospect to "Castle" fans (and Nathan Fillion fans), comic fans should note the pedigree of the project's creative team, too. Veteran writer Brian Michael Bendis will co-script the book with Kelly Sue DeConnick ("Captain America And The Secret Avengers"), while...
