Matt was born and raised on the Jersey Shore. From an early age, Matt immediately took an interest in the beach and ocean which eventually led him into surf photography & cinematography. His father was an amateur photographer and was the initial trigger behind Matt's interest in photography.
He attended Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC. He spent 2 years studying the liberal arts and finished his business degree at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA. Matt graduated with honors throughout. During his time in school he co-created an independent surf video documenting surfing in a few locations around the globe and published it on DVD.
Matt moved to Hawaii in 2004 to continue documenting surf and the ocean culture. After a short stint he ended up back on the East Coast working as an information systems consultant. Matt transitioned into a developer role and ended up working remotely and traveling the world for the next 7 years but continued evolving his craft as a photographer / cinematographer in tandem.
As of 2018 Matt a full time photographer, visual artist, and cinematographer (since 2012) and has worked with many clients from CNN and the BBC to small editorial outlets in the ocean and surf industries. Matt also took a role as a lifestyle fashion photographer for Faherty Brand out of NYC since 2012 and continues to work with the brand. From 2014-2016 Matt worked with Patagonia assisting with creating some motion productions in Hawaii, South America, & South Africa / Namibia. Matt's work has also been published editorially in various print around the world, majorly in the surf, ocean and adventure industry.
