Arnon Milchan and Warren Beatty have settled their two-year legal battle over the disastrous release of “Rules Don’t Apply,” Beatty’s period drama about Howard Hughes.
Milchan’s attorneys have filed a notice with the court dismissing his suit against Beatty. Terms of the settlement were not disclosed.
Milchan’s company, New Regency, sued Beatty and other investors in December 2017, alleging that they had failed to pay $18 million in distribution costs. Milchan alleged that Beatty and his investors ignored poor test screening results and insisted on a wide release for the film, rejecting advice from New Regency to do a more limited release. When the film flopped — grossing just $3.9 million — Milchan alleged that he was left holding the bag.

Kevin Smith took to Instagram to reveal a behind-the-scenes image from his movie Tusk, which features a look at a very bloody Justin Long. We like when Long is bloody. He was pretty neat when his peepers were removed too.
Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions has snatched up Smith's monster flick, which is thus far the biggest Hollywood studio deal at Berlin's European Film Market.
Spwa has bought Tusk for the U.K., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Latin America, Italy, Benelux, Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, South Africa, Portugal, Spain and Greece. Additional territories are yet to be announced.

There's perhaps no horror film coming our way next year that's more intriguing than Kevin Smith's Tusk, which centers around a killer who attempts to turn a podcaster into a human-walrus hybrid.
Though Smith has been rushing the film along in an effort to premiere it at next month's Sundance Film Festival, it looks like he's hit a little speed bump along the way. Read on for details.
As reported by our friends over at Bloody Disgusting, Smith opened up about the progress of the film on the latest episode of his SModcast, revealing that the cameras will continue to roll through the year, possibly even into next year.
“We’ve still got two more shooting days here in Los Angeles to wrap the flick with our fifth Beatle – the performer playing the role of investigator Guy Lapointe,” said Smith. “It’s looking like late December/early January for...

Following yesterday's announcement about Mara, the Olga Kurylenko horror thriller about Sudden Unexpected Nocturnal Death Syndrome, there's news this morning that we can expect yet further sleep-danger shenanigans. Kate Bosworth and Thomas Jane will be teaming up to tackle Somnia, the next film from Oculus director Mike Flanagan. Nine, ten, never sleep again...On a different tack to Mara's sleep paralysis, Somnia focuses on an orphaned child (Jacob Tremblay, from The Smurfs 2) whose dreams and nightmares manifest physically as he sleeps (wasn't that a Buffy episode?). Bosworth and Jane will be playing his adoptive parents, presumably forced to deal with whatever junior conjures up after bedtime.Flanagan's Oculus (about a possessed antique mirror) also had orphans at its centre, which is perhaps why producer Trevor Macy calls Somnia "a natural follow-up". "We're thrilled that Kate and Thomas have joined us," says Macy, "and look forward to presenting Somnia at the American Film Market.
