Deon Van Der Merwe born 3 January 1977 in Brits, South Africa, finished
school in 1995, and studied National Diploma Cost and Management
Accounting. In December 2004 he finished a Creative Writing course
through Intec College where he learned about script writing. After that
he did various workshops on film writing and directing through Daniel
Dercksen's Writing Studio, has taken part of the 48 hour filmmaking
competitions and has produced, directed and written various short
movies. In 2011 he and Carl Roddam have started a small productions
company, Uniquely Novel Productions. He usually plays as an extra in
his own projects. In 2014 he produced, directed
and wrote his first feature film called Had Better Days with co writer,
producer and director Carl Roddam. Deon Van Der Merwe is also a
published Poet and enjoys photography.
