The British Urban Film Festival (Buff) has appointed Jennifer G Robinson as its new director.
Robinson, who founded Women Of The Lens Film Festival in 2017 takes over from Justin Chinyere after four years at the helm.
Buff has also appointed Laurelle Jones as its new artistic director, replacing Paula Crickard. Jones is a film, TV and podcast producer who previously worked as festival coordinator at Women Of The Lens.
The festival recently relocated its operations from London to Halifax and Leeds and launched an “Up North, Down South” season to promote filmmakers from both London and Yorkshire.

Greece’s Skai TV has become the 23rd network to commission a version of ITV Studios’ smash reality show Love Island. Local producer Silverline will work up the Greek version, which will air later this year. The show, whose latest season in the U.S. has just started, brings singletons together who then ‘couple up’ or are eliminated throughout the eight week run. It has captured the zeitgeist in multiple territories, drawing millions of viewers and dominating front pages. The original UK version’s latest season ended on ITV2 at the start of the month.

Germany’s Leonine Studios has rebranded its television subsidiary Odeon Entertainment as Madame Zheng Production to reflect its primary focus of “equality and diversity in every aspect of the production business, both in front of and behind the camera.” Tina Wagner, previously producer and executive producer at RedSeven Entertainment, and Nina Etspüler, co-head of entertainment at Leonine Studios, are joining the management team and will lead the company under Wagner’s direction along with Martin Schneider, Odeon Entertainment’s long-standing managing director.

101 picked up the project via this week’s Production Finance Market, the two-day film financing event held during the BFI London Film Festival.
