Two episodes were left to film in the season.

The decision to remove the shows from the slate came after strong consideration, and per the insider, the network hopes to work with Rafael Casal (“Blindspotting”), Daveed Diggs (“Blindspotting”), Rachelle Williams-Benary (“Run the World”) and Mike O’Malley (“Heels”) in the future. Each of these shows have all aired their second seasons.
“The Venery of Samantha,” starring Katherine Langford and created by Anna Moriarty, only had two more episodes of its first season left to film, but the writers’ and actors’ strikes impacted its cancellation.

Deadline understands that the drama series has paused filming with two episodes of its eight episode order left to shoot. The series shoots in Montreal.
It comes after Netflix’s Rob Lowe comedy series Unstable and HBO Max’s Hacks were shut down for similar reasons and writers rooms for shows such as Starz’ Power Book III: Raising Kanan, NBC’s Night Court, Netflix’s Cobra Kai, Showtime’s Yellowjackets and ABC’s Abbott Elementary also closed their writing rooms.
The series stars Katherine Langford in the title role and was created by Anna Moriarty.
It follows Samantha Bird, who, while visiting family in New England, Samantha Bird reconnects with her childhood sweetheart and falls headlong into a seemingly perfect storybook romance. But underneath their fever dream lurks a more unsettling interpretation of this affair.

Exclusive: Producer Jessica Rhoades is developing hourlong series Nice Jewish Girls for Netflix, created by Anni Weisband (Astronomy Club). Under the pact, Pacesetter will continue its mission of fostering creative voices as it works with new and established writers on projects for Netflix.
Rhoades serves as executive producer on Nice Jewish Girls alongside Weisband and Dara Resnik (Home Before Dark), who will supervise the project.
Loosely based on Weisband’s family members, Nice Jewish Girls is a darkly comedic one-hour family crime drama about four sisters in the aftermath of a death in the family. They know they would do anything for each other, but come to realize they don’t know everything about each other.
