Chisom Oz-lee is a filmmaker, producer, scriptwriter, actress, teacher
and nurse. Drawn to acting during her secondary school years, the
daughter of the late F.O. Nunobi and Susan Young was born in Enugu,
Nigeria, where she attended school studying mathematics and science. In
fact, she did so well in math she was dubbed "Miss Hundred" because she
never received less than one hundred in her math work. Despite this
fact, Chisom joined the Anambra State Volunteers Service where she had
the opportunity to learn dance, community and contemporary drama,
working with Nollywood pioneers like Sydney Diala. This prompted Chisom
to change her curriculum to Eng literature and the Arts. Later, Ozi-lee
became an employee of the Anambra State Education Commission where she
taught English language and literature to the senior classes. Later on,
Chisom moved to America to join her husband, now deceased. As a result
of having to care for her ill husband, the newly- wedded Chisom decided
to go into the nursing profession, eventually becoming a registered
health care professional. Although she is a registered nurse, she is
also pursuing a Master Degree in Nursing from one of the New York's
prestigious universities. As a registered nurse, Chisom has seen cases
that have moved her to tears, especially women who have undergone the
age old tradition of female circumcision. These women bear bad scar
tissue which makes birth very difficult. She has seen women suffer from
urinary tract infections, menstrual complications. The use of
unsanitary knives and razor blades during these procedures may aid in
the spreading of the HIV/AIDS virus. Being a witness to the physical
pain and psychological depression caused by these genital mutilations,
Chisom was prompted to write, produce and star in a movie that educates
and exposes this dangerous cultural rite of passage entitled "Lost
Maiden." She hopes her film, produced by Best Icon Productions,
Chisom's production company, will be instrumental in stopping the
practice. The talented artist/filmmaker hopes to do more medically
related films in future to educate her audience about their bodies and
provide needed medical information. Other movies Chisom has appeared in
include "In A Stranger's Arms," a story about love, betrayal and
disappointment. "Flying Colors," "Menjiva's Death," and "Ojadili" a
story about a brave individual who embarks upon a dangerous journey. In
2009, Chisom produced movies titled "Timeless Passion" and "Passionate
Heart" starring Ramsey Noah, Des Elliot, Uche Jombo, Monalisa Chinda,
Chisom Oz-lee & host of others. To be released in Aug 2010. In 2010 she
produced "Unguarded" a blockbuster shot in RED2. Chisom has worked with
other top Nollywood artists such as,Omotola Kehinde, Ramsey Noah, uche
jombo,Kalu Ikeagwu, Ngozi Ezeonu, Emen Isong, and a host of others.
