Mumbai, May 22 (Ians) As his team slumped to an eight-wicket defeat with 12 deliveries to spare despite putting up a total of 200/5, Sunrisers Hyderabad chief coach Brian Lara said they were outmuscled on a belter at the Wankhede Stadium.
Srh made a great start thanks to blazing half-centuries by openers Vivrant Sharma (69) and Mayank Agarwal (83) as they shared a 140-run opening partnership. But just when it looked like the openers would go for their respective centuries and help their team to a massive total, Akash Madhwal claimed a four-wicket haul by Akash Madhwal (4-37) to restrict them to 200/5.
Mumbai Indians chased down the challenging target thanks to a brilliant maiden T20 century by Cameron Green (100 not out) and a chance-filled half-century by skipper Rohit Sharma (56) as they reached 201/2 in 18 overs.
Lara said such a result was not unexpected on the typical Wankhede wicket as 200 has been chased quite a few times here.

In these years, the Bcci has grown from a body struggling to survive to becoming a financial behemoth — the richest cricket board in the world that controls more than 50 per cent of worldwide revenues.
During these 90-plus years of existence, the Bcci has grown into a financial monolith and the most-powerful cricket board in the world because of the efforts of people like Inderjit Singh Bindra (Is Bindra), Jagmohan Dalmiya, Nkp Salve, Sharad Pawar and N Srinivasan. Their reigns not only helped cricket grow into the No. 1 sport in the country but also helped Bcci become the most powerful cricket organisation in the world, weaning away the power from old guards England and Australia.
These periods were also marred by several controversies and re-alignments as they remained the power centres for many years, becoming the head honchos at the Icc before things fell apart.

New Delhi, March 29 (Ians) Seventeen years ago this day, swashbuckling batsman Virender Sehwag provided millions of his fans plenty to rejoice as he hammered India's first ever triple Test century in Multan -- and went on to score another triple and missed a third one by a whisker.
Playing only in his 21st Test match, Sehwag, then aged 25 years and 160 days, achieved the feat on the second day of the first Test of the series against Pakistan. He ended the first day of the match at 228 not out and soon after lunch interval on the second day, he stepped out to off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq and lifted him over the long on boundary for a six to complete the triple in fabulous style.
India went on to win the Test by an innings and 52 runs, after Sehwag had laid the foundation with his almost nine-hour innings. India...

New Delhi, March 17 (Ians) While the Lodha recommendations and the new Bcci constitution inspired by it had looked to reform Indian cricket by getting rid of nepotism among other issues, over two-and-a-half years after being approved and adopted, the spirit of the reforms has been largely stifled or diluted.
While the Indian cricket board (Bcci) continues to work under the leadership of President Sourav Ganguly and Secretary Jay Shah despite their tenures getting over in the middle of last year and the Supreme Court not giving them any protection to continue, there are former heads of state bodies who continue to run their associations through their children and relatives.
"One of the objectives of the new constitution was to bring in rotation or put a cap on tenure to avoid turning it into a personal fiefdom. But that is not getting solved due to the way state bodies function. The...

New Delhi, Jan 30 (Ians) Indian cricket board secretary Jay Shah was on Saturday "appointed" president of the Asian Cricket Council (Acc) following its virtual Agm on Saturday. Shah will take over from Nazmul Hassan who is also president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board.
"Shah, 32, is the youngest administrator to be appointed as the Acc president," said a statement from the Bcci.
Interestingly, the Bcci statement mentioned at four places that that Shah was "appointed" Acc president while at two places it said that he was "elected".
"I accept this honour and I thank my esteemed colleagues at the Bcci for nominating me and considering me worthy of this prestigious position. Formed with a view to organise, develop and promote the sport in the region, the Acc has steadily grown in stature. New Delhi, Jan 14 (Ians) The cash-rich Indian cricket board should pay taxes, and not seek exemption from the central government, and host the T20 World Cup in India this year, says former treasurer Kishore Rungta.
According to a document of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (Bcci), if the government gives only 10 per cent exemption, it would have to pay $31 million (around Rs.226.58 crore) and if the government rejects exemption completely, then it will have to pay $124 million (around Rs.906.33 crore) -- provided it is willing to pay the tax from its account and host the prestigious World Cup.
The International Cricket Council (Icc) has put two conditions to the Bcci to get full tax exemption for the T20 World Cup, tentatively scheduled to be staged in October-November. If it doesn't get the exemption, the tournament would be relocated to the United Arab Emirates,...

New Delhi, Dec 12 (Ians) Not all the state associations seem to be happy with the venues chosen for England's upcoming tour of India, and some aggrieved cricket administrators in the state associations are linking it to this month's elections of the Indian cricket board. Even Indian cricket board president Sourav Ganguly's home state, Bengal, has questioned him on why it wasn't allotted any of the 12 matches that will be played in February-March.
A "shocked" Mumbai said it was "extremely unexpected" at being ignored completely. On the other hand, Gujarat Cricket Association (Gca) will host seven of the 12 matches in Ahmedabad.
Pune, a very surprising choice, will host all three One-day Internationals while Chennai -- Tamil Nadu Cricket Association's president Rupa Meiyappan is the daughter of former Bcci (Board of Control for Cricket in India) chief N. Srinivasan -- will host two of the four Tests.
