For many observers, the sudden shelving of the nearly-completed Batgirl movie was the harbinger of a crisis at HBO Max. With the long-running Arrowverse coming to an end as The Flash completes its ninth and final season, that film seemed like a pariah, a sign that some shows will live, some shows will die, and nothing will be the same. But early reports indicate that most current series and some in production are still going forward.
Chief among these is Green Lantern, the ambitious show about three generations of space cops. Created by Arrowverse architects Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim and The Lego Batman Movie writer Seth Grahame-Smith, Green Lantern demanded a budget to rival those of HBO’s prestige programs, such as Game of Thrones. With such high costs, Green Lantern seemed exactly like the type of show new Warner Brothers CEO David Zaslav wants to eliminate as he...

HBO Max’s upcoming “Green Lantern” series is eyeing actor Jeremy Irvine for the role of Alan Scott.
Irvine would join Finn Wittrock in the series, who has been cast in the lead role of Guy Gardner. HBO Max declined to comment.
Scott was Earth’s first Green Lantern, who, true to the comics, is a gay man. He was created by Martin Nodell and made his comic book debut in 1940. A train engineer by trade, Scott derived his powers from a mystical green lantern crafted from a mysterious meteorite. He later joined the Justice Society of America, and in universe-hopping adventures would sometimes team with members of the Green Lantern Corps, including Hal Jordan.
Based on the DC Comics property, the show was first announced in 2019 and was ordered to series last year. The story spans decades and galaxies, beginning on Earth in 1941 with Scott, and then heading to...

Earlier this month heralded the release of WB’s mildly successful, supergroup-assembling blockbuster Justice League on Blu-ray and DVD. It wasn’t exactly the box office triumph that the Dceu was expecting, and secretly praying for, seeing as the film was rather unexpectedly bounced from the top spot in only its second week by Pixar’s now Academy Award-winning Coco, but it hasn’t been all downhill for the Zack Snyder/Joss Whedon-directed picture, as its home video release recently ripped the sales crown from the clutches of Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok.
Since its journey to Blu-ray and DVD, we’ve been seeing quite a bit of bonus material from the movie, including never-before-seen images and even a few deleted scenes. Now, another previously unreleased treat from the DC tentpole has made its way online, and it will certainly fuel the fire of those, like me, who are antsy for a Snyder cut.

With comic book adaptations on almost every channel and streaming service, fans will meet many new characters with extensive backstories. We’re here to introduce these characters to help lessen the learning curve.
Arrow and The Flash are crossing over again to do some heavy lifting for Legends of Tomorrow, but that could be said about both shows’ earliest episodes this season. Not only will “Legends of Today” and “Legends of Yesterday” give everyone a look at Hawkman and Hawkgirl, they’ll also introduce the spinoff’s villain: Vandal Savage.
Vandal is one DC’s most enduring and formidable villains, appearing as an antagonist since 1944 when he was created by Alfred Bester and Martin Nodell. The character is an immortal who’s terrorized civilizations throughout history, claiming to have either been or collaborated with figures like Julius Caesar and Genghis Khan.
After being exposed to a meteorite as a caveman,...
