According to the New York Post, 18-year-old Maya Fairweather was visiting her boyfriend, Carlos Guzman, at his apartment in the Red Hook neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York, on Monday night. Around 10 p.m., the teen decided to take Guzman’s puppy, Apollo, for a walk.
Once she reached a nearby park, Fairweather let the pit bull off his leash so he could run around on the grass, while she watched on listening to music through her headphones.

Shadow Show #1
Original Story: Joe Hill
Adaptation Writer: Jason Ciaramella
Art: Charles Paul Wilson III
Colours: Jeremy Mohler and Charles Paul Wilson III
Editors: Carlos Guzman and Chris Ryall
Letterer: Robbie Robbins
Publisher: Idw Publishing
Ray Bradbury is a name embedded in the great mythos of science fiction literature. His ability to work through the wide ranges of literature, from novels to short stories, would bring Bradbury to adapt some of his work into the realm of comic books. As explained in the introduction for Shadow Show, Bradbury was fascinated with the fantastic at a very young age, burrowing from his obsession with the newspaper Sunday comics like Buck Rogers in the 25th Century. The pulp writer began in magazines and would eventually make his way to adapting his own stories for EC Comics (through a very interesting exchange with Max Gaines). It only makes sense that Shadow Show will...

It must suck being a Transformer. Aside from the obvious benefits such as transforming, having to deal with a civil war that lasts eons is a bit of a deal breaker. Yet, without conflict there can be no resolution—or a story for that matter, and despite the negative benefits of an all out civil war, it sure does make for some great reading. Things come to head for Autobot and Decepticon alike in this new series from Idw appropriately titled Transformers: Dark Cybertron.
The war for Cybertron has ended and Starscream is in charge. Yep, we’re off to a great start. With the...

Samurai Jack #1
Writer: Jim Zub
Art: Andy Suriano
Lettering: Shawn Lee
Editor: Carlos Guzman
Publisher: Idw
This is a great time to be alive! Not only are we in a new golden age of comic books, also known as the ‘creator-age’ but television shows long thought lost are springing to life right before our eyes. While some television shows are dragged out, all but ruining any good will—ahem Dexter, some burn so bright for such a short time that they never really leave the collective conscience. The tale of Samurai Jack is one of those television shows.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the awesomeness that is Samurai Jack, the story is a simple one. Actually let’s do this verbatim (note– please read this in your best Mako voice):
“Long ago in a distant land, I, Aku, The shape-shifting master of darkness, unleashed an unspeakable evil!
