Concept Art by Steffen Reichstadt Key Frame Art by Gregory Hill We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead. It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his...

We love concept art around here. We also love that concept artists are finally allowed to publicize their portfolios for a movie after it has opened in theaters. Recently this has given us clearer looks at the aliens in Edge of Tomorrow, alternate versions of Godzilla, and even some unused designs for Sentinels in X2: X-Men United. And now the latest bits of alternate reality art to be liberated are Steffen Reichstadt's alternate designs for Angelina Jolie in Maleficent. In the actual movie they went with a design that was basically just cheek bones so high and sharp they look like they'd cut anyone who got too close, but these other tests keep her face more intact and emphasize horns instead. And, as striking as the used design is, we're a little disappointed we...

We love concept art around here because it gives us a chance to see what our favorite movie characters almost looked like on their way to the big screen. The latest bits of art to arrive online are Steffen Reichstadt's alternate designs for Angelina Jolie in Maleficent. In the movie they went with a design that emphasized cheek bones so high and sharp they look like they'd cut anyone who got too close, but these other tests keep her face more intact and emphasize horns instead. The stunning beauty of Jolie's face seems to be masking the evil lurking behind her, making for a wonderful and instantly striking design. Have a look at what could've been, and let us know which version you like more. And here's an alternate...

Part of the fun of keeping up with a hit movie is learning what changes almost happened during production, which might have resulted in a different film than the one you currently adore. Angelina Jolie.s latest creation, Maleficent, is the latest example of a big-screen character that went through several revisions before director Robert Stromberg settled on the look he preferred, and now we get to see some of the alternate designs that were under consideration. Concept artist Steffen Reichstadt -- whose credits include Noah, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Edge of Tomorrow and the upcoming Dawn of the Planet of the Apes -- shared images of possible Maleficents on his official page. Some are Extremely different from the finished design, as you can tell above. There.s almost a cat-like quality to the costume and facial tattoos Reichstadt put on that first Maleficent design. And with this next...

Concept Art by Steffen Reichstadt “Maleficent” is the untold story of Disney’s most iconic villain from the 1959 classic “Sleeping Beauty.” A beautiful, pure-hearted young woman, Maleficent has an idyllic life growing up in a peaceable forest kingdom, until one day when an invading army threatens the harmony of the land. Maleficent rises to be the land’s fiercest protector, but she ultimately suffers a ruthless betrayal—an act that begins to turn her pure heart to stone. Bent on revenge, Maleficent faces an epic battle with the invading king’s successor and, as a result, places a curse upon his newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Maleficent realizes that Aurora holds the key to peace in the kingdom—and perhaps to Maleficent’s true happiness as well. The story unfolds in a near future in which a hive-like alien race, called Mimics, have hit the Earth...

A couple of more pieces of concept art have surfaced for Spider-Man and Rhino in Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man 2. These are alternate designs for the characters that they obviously didn't use. The Spider-Man one is unique, and it's kind of cool, but I'm glad they went with the classic design. You just can't beat the classics. The art comes from Concept artist Steffen Reichstadt, who recently worked on Edge of Tomorrow.

Here's an awesome collection of new concept art for films such as The Avengers, Green Lantern and some other character and costume designs for X-Men: First Class. The coolest art in the set though is some awesome keyframes for The Avengers from concept artist Rodney Fuentebella. I'm not really a big fan of the X-Men: First Class art from artist Thomas Whitehouse - those costume designs are pretty bad. Then artist Steffen Reichstadt released a few different versions of Stel, the Grendan Green Lantern. Look over the concept art and let us know what you think!
