Ali Elliott drew the "short straw" on Survivor, and not just on Wednesday night's episode.
According to the Los Angeles native, her time on Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers was doomed from day one.
"If anything, the reason I was sent home was because of Ryan's luck," Ali told Et over the phone on Thursday, after watching her elimination the day before. "I think that you could say that him grabbing that secret super idol on the boat, that was the beginning of my downfall, because him having that, and happening to give it to Chrissy, and then happening to get on the same swap? Like, seriously, how lucky can you get?"
"So, all of Ryan's luck turned into my unluck, and I became rather unlucky after all of his advantages," she added.

You probably don’t know Habibullah Ali’s name, but he’s something of a hero when it comes to Afghan cinema. In the mid-1990s, Ali risked his life by hiding thousands of film reels from Taliban forces who invaded Afghanistan’s state-run movie company, Afghan Film. The Taliban banned popular entertainment during their rule from 1996-2001, and they would have destroyed some 7,000 films if it weren’t for Ali’s efforts.
“We did not expect to leave for our homes that day alive,” Ali told Afp in a profile saluting his efforts to preserve Afghan film history. “If they had found out we had hidden movies they would have killed us.”

Two new film festivals in the Arab world — and not in the Gulf States region where Kuwait had its first festival last month — have announced their first editions. Jordan and Egypt, along with the first ever Arab Critics Awards casts a new light onto just what Arab cinema is.
What began several years ago in the recently oil-rich Gulf nations of Dubai, Abu-Dhabi and Qatar who first brought the notion of Arab cinema to the western world with expensive receptions (including a camel one year at the Toronto Film Festival) and ultra fancy festivals (Abu Dhabi has since bowed out of its Tribeca Ff partnership and pulled back on all but its film fund) has now come to a more balanced sharing of Arabic cinema as a multi-culturally wealthy medium.

There’s no negativity between the people behind Moonlightand La La Land.
It was perhaps the biggest flub in the history of the Academy Awards when Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway mistakenly called La La Land as the winner of the 2017 Academy Award for Best Picture Sunday night — the honor actually belonged to Moonlight. However, Barry Jenkins, the director behind the coming-of-age tale, praised La La Land producer Jordan Horowitz for his determination to make things right.

The mystery behind the Academy Awards’ Envelopegate — in which La La Land was incorrectly announced as the Best Picture winner, over Moonlight — has been mostly solved, and many people were involved or witnessed what occurred.
So far it appears the mix-up was the result of the incorrect card being given to presenters Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway, though it’s unclear by whom. (There are two copies of the winning card for each category and in this case, the errant duplicate is seemingly the Best Actress award.)

Awards shows are often a forum for social commentary, but it's difficult to recall one as politically charged as the 2017 Screen Actors Guild Awards.

“Marvel’s Luke Cage” is a vibrant homage to Harlem in all of its cultural, political and yes, even unlawful glory. Thanks to showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker’s background as a music journalist turned TV producer, the famed New York neighborhood is reimagined with the energy of a hip-hop beat and power plays worthy of “Game of Thrones.”
It’s a kingdom based on everyday haunts like Genghis Connie’s Asian restaurant or Pop’s Barber Shop, where Luke Cage (Mike Colter) finds sanctuary after fleeing Hell’s Kitchen. While these establishments appeal to the hoi polloi, the glitterati prefer Harlem’s Paradise. The swank nightclub promises luxury, celebrity entertainment and even scandal thanks to the somewhat crooked ownership by Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes (Mahershala Ali), who learned his ruthless ways from his grandmother, who ran illicit businesses back in the day.

Frank Underwood has a lot of enemies in “House of Cards” — but star Mahershala Ali, who plays Remy Danton on the Netflix hit, thinks a friend will be the one to take down the president. “Like maybe at some point because he’s the one closest to him, my guess would be Stamper,” Ali said of costar Michael Kelly’s character in a recent interview with TheWrap. Ali is nominated for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series. Danton worked for Underwood (Kevin Spacey) both during Frank’s time in congress and later in the White House before striking out on his own.

Team U.S.A. made a historic clean sweep in the women's 100-meter hurdles on Wednesday evening to win gold, silver and bronze - but it was silver medal winner Nia Ali's 15-month-old son, Titus, who stole the show. After Ali finished her race in 12.59 seconds, the adorable tot ran on the track to lovingly embrace her. With a toothy grin, the toddler posed for photos with Ali, joined by Brianna Rollins, who won the race with a time of 12.48 seconds, and Kristi Castlin, who took third coming in at 12.61 seconds. The champion hurdlers draped themselves in American flags after the incredible win.

Music videos seem to be the flavour of the season. After Sonam Kapoor- Hrithik Roshan, Tiger Shroff- Disha Patni, Tiger Shroff - Kriti Sanon and Vidyut Jamval - Huma Qureshi, the next duo who will feature in a music video is Ali Fazal and Zarine Khan. In fact the duo has been roped in by music giant T-Series for their next music video with the track 'Pyaar Maanga Hain Tumhee Se'.
While Ali is currently working on wrapping the shoot for Prakash Raj's Tadka in which he's paired opposite Taapsee Pannu, Zarina has been working hard on her new physique. As for the music video, it will recreate the track, 'Pyaar Manga Hai Tumhee Se' from the movie College Girl, which released in 1978. The song, composed by music maestro Bappi Lahiri, had been quite a hit back in the day, and was sung by Kishore Kumar.

I have no yen to throw shade at anyone, including myself, and I don’t completely trust my memory for long-past events and there are probably at least two versions of why I bailed early on a quirky project titled Superman vs Muhammad Ali. So let’s let it go with this: I was involved in such a project and it led to my meeting, most briefly, with a truly great man.
I knew of Ali well before the Superman thing, and I guess I admired him, first for his skill as a boxer and later for his work as a peace activist. He was a living refutation of the knuckleheads who believed that so-called peaceniks were squeaky-voiced sissies who hid in the tulip bed when real men engaged in manly activities like face-bashing.

There was no order in this courtroom.
Tuesday's episode of Pretty Little Liars saw the start of Alison's (Sasha Pieterse) trial for Mona's (Janel Parrish) murder, but we didn't really learn anything new the proceedings. Instead, the state's team tried to drum up melodrama and air dirty laundry, painting Ali as a manipulative, soulless ringleader who took high school cattiness way too far.
Yeah, that's an accurate portrait – and that's exactly what Big "A" was counting on.
