Helena Bonham Carter as Dr. Julia Hoffman, Chloë Grace Moretz as Carolyn Stoddard, Eva Green as Angelique Bouchard, Gulliver McGrath as David Collins, Bella Heathcote as Victoria Winters, Johnny Depp as Barnabas Collins, Ray Shirley as Mrs. Johnson, Jackie Earle Haley as Willie Loomis, Jonny Lee Miller as Roger Collins, and Michelle Pfeiffer as Elizabeth Collins Stoddard, Dark Shadows Tim Burton / Johnny Depp’s Dark Shadows is off to a middling start, earning $550,000 at Thursday midnight screenings in North America. Comparing the box-office performance of Dark Shadows to those of, say, Jennifer Lawrence’s eagerly awaited The Hunger Games or Joss Whedon’s superhero ensemble The Avengers would be not only cruel but downright unfair. Although the previous Burton / Depp collaboration, Alice in Wonderland, was a humongous hit, opening with $116 million in March 2010, Burton’s campy version of the late ’60s soap opera Dark Shadows has a different sort of appeal.

Dark Shadows - a souped-up, jewel-toned, bigscreen adaptation of the musty yet beloved supernatural soap opera from the late sixties - seemed pretty much guaranteed to disappoint at least one of its major potential fanbases. If it were too different from or condescending to its source material, fans of the creaky old serial would cry foul. But if it were too faithful to what really wasn't a particularly coherant (or exciting, on most days) show to begin with, it would bore the hell out of anyone looking for a dependably offbeat Tim Burton movie.
So it's interesting in the worst possible way to see that rather than disappoint half of its audience, Dark Shadows may disappoint pretty much all of it.
For those unfamiliar with the premise, Shadows tells the story of the Collins family, a dynasty of once-prosperous fish canners who by the early 1970's have nearly succumbed to...

Yup, they’re strange. But I guess only one of them is a vampire. Weren’t they all vampires in the original TV shows? I don’t know, I only remember the early ’90s version with Ben Cross and Joanna Going, and not even that clearly, alas. Anyhoo. Check out a new featurette for Tim Burton’s “Dark Shadows” that focuses on the film’s dysfunctional family dynamics. See, this would have been easier if they were all vampires. Or at least werewolves. I mention before that the film has a 50-50 chance of either becoming a big hit or falling flat on its face at the box office. Honestly? After a whopping 9 clips and a half dozen more trailers and featurettes, I’m still not sure where it’s gonna fall… Johnny Depp leads the all-star cast, which includes Bella Heathcote, Chloe Moretz, Helena Bonham Carter, Eva Green, Michelle Pfeiffer,...

Check out a new featurette for Tim Burton’s “Dark Shadows”, a 3-minute exploration of the vampire of cinema, though I doubt if any of the bloodsuckers that’s come before Burton’s movie is anything like the one that Johnny Depp plays here. I get the feeling “Dark Shadows” is going to surprise everyone and make a mint, or go down as one of the biggest flops of Burton and Depp’s careers. At this point, I don’t see a half-way point here, folks. It’s either big or bust from the looks of it. An imprisoned vampire, Barnabas Collins, is set free and returns to his ancestral home, where his dysfunctional descendants are in need of his protection. Starring Johnny Depp, Bella Heathcote, Chloe Moretz, Helena Bonham Carter, Eva Green, Michelle Pfeiffer, Christopher Lee, Jackie Earle Haley, Jonny Lee Miller, Thomas McDonell, and Ray Shirley. Biting moviegoers...

Here is the first trailer for Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows, his take on the cult TV series. The trailer plays very well and it looks like it could be another great Burton comedy (Beetlejuice, Mars Attacks!) with Johnny Depp and the rest of the stellar cast providing laughs.
The film stars Eva Green, Michelle Pfeiffer, Chloe Moretz, Helena Bonham Carter, Bella Heathcote, Jackie Earle Haley, Gulliver McGrath, Ray Shirley, and Jonny Lee Miller.
Dark Shadows opens May 11th, click here to view the full poster. Watch the trailer below:
In the year 1752, Joshua and Naomi Collins, with young son Barnabas, set sail from Liverpool, England to start a new life in America. But even an ocean was not enough to escape the mysterious curse that has plagued their family. Two decades pass and Barnabas (Johnny Depp) has the world at his feet—or at least the town of Collinsport,...

Dark Shadows continues to release some impressive images, but the lack of a trailer makes me wonder if any of the dialogue would be any good. So as we wait for a trailer for Tim Burton’s latest movie, CineMarcado (via Collider), has unveiled four new images, this time we are getting a look at Johnny Depp, Chloe Moretz, Eva Green and Michelle Pfieffer.
Joining them will be Gulliver McGrath, Helena Bonham Carter, Bella Heathcote, Ray Shirley, and Jonny Lee Miller. Dark Shadows opens May 11th.
Here are the latest images from the movie:

Johnny Depp, Jackie Earle Haley, and Michelle Pfieffer step back into the 70’s in the latest images from Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows.
While a trailer still eludes us, Dark Shadows continues to tease with photographic peeks at the film. The photos are nice, but I’m really hoping a trailer will be popping up soon.
In the latest images, Depp’s Barnabas Collins and Haley’s Willie Loomis explore a Gothic setting while Pfieffer strikes a pose as Elizabeth Collins Stoddard, the “reclusive matriarch of the Collins family. The family tree has fallen in serious disrepair since Barnabas was cursed 200 years ago but even vampirism seems to pale when you consider that Elizabeth hasn’t left the mansion since her husband disappeared ten years ago. Seriously, this is one messed up family.

I always thought Johnny Depp looked much younger than his age (the guy is almost 50, after all), but damn, he looks like he’s in his early 20s in this new image from Tim Burton’s “Dark Shadows” reboot. In the film, based on the TV show of the same name, Depp plays Barnabas Collins, a vampire who longs for his true love. Michelle Pfeiffer plays Elizabeth Collins Stoddard, the matriarch of the Collins’ clan. I’m still not sure if this movie is supposed to be some kind of vampire soap opera or a supernatural/horror movie with, you know, fighting monsters and the like. Tim Burton doesn’t actually do action movies, so I reckon it’ll probably be somewhere between the two. Also starring Bella Heathcote, Chloe Moretz, Helena Bonham Carter, Eva Green, Christopher Lee, Jackie Earle Haley, Jonny Lee Miller, Thomas McDonell, and Ray Shirley. The...
