Netflix won rights to the book in a competitive situation that involved multiple offers out of the U.S. and UK. Actress and producer Molly Sims (Kinda Pregnant) and Modern Magic are attached to produce, with Jewell exec producing. Gaby McCormick, who brought the project in, will co-produce through Modern Magic.
Published by Simon & Schuster last July, None of This Is True follows popular podcaster Alix Summer, who while celebrating her 45th birthday at her local pub, crosses paths with an unassuming woman called Josie Fair. Travis Knight just may have the power.
The Laika CEO and part-time filmmaker is in early talks to direct the long-in-the-works live-action adaptation of Masters of the Universe for Amazon MGM Studios, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
Knight isn’t coming alone. Chris Butler, a longtime Knight and Laika collaborator who wrote and co-directed ParaNorman and wrote Kubo and the Two Strings, among other projects, has been brought on to rewrite the script. Over the years the project had drafts from David Callaham and Aaron and Adam Nee.
Escape Artists’ Todd Black and Jason Blumenthal, who have been with the projects for decades, are producing along with Mattel’s Robbie Brenner.
Amazon MGM had no comment.

Amazon MGM Studios is going back for superhero seconds.
The streamer is developing a sequel to Samaritan, its 2022 action movie starring Sylvester Stallone, and has hired Bragi F. Schut to pen the script. Schut also wrote the first movie.
Stallone is returning as producer, as is his Balboa Productions partner Braden Aftergood. Stallone is also reprising his starring role with a deal made prior to the actors strike.
Samaritan, directed by Julius Avery, told of a young boy who is saved from a beating by a sanitation worker. The boy comes to believe that the older man is a superhero who disappeared 20 years earlier, after an epic battle with his archenemies. The movie, which premiered exclusively on Prime Video on Aug. 26, 2022, in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide, overperformed for the company and was the No. 1 film on the service for three consecutive weeks, according to Amazon.
Schut wrote the first script on spec.

Exclusive: There is behind-the-scenes shakeup on NBC’s new drama series Quantum Leap starring Raymond Lee. Martin Gero, who has served as EP on the project since the development stage, has stepped in as new showrunner. Dean Georgaris also has joined the series as executive producer on the reboot of the popular 1990s sci-fi drama. Gero is taking over showrunning duties for Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt, who wrote the pilot and will remain on the show as executive producers.
Gero and Georgaris are both experienced showrunners with multiple series under their belts; both are under overall deals at Universal Television, the studio behind the Quantum Leap reboot.
The change comes after the series has shot the first two episodes after the pilot, I hear. As Deadline reported in May, at the time of the Quantum Leap‘s pickup to series NBC was not entirely happy with the pilot. I...
