In a rare turn of events, director/co-writer Anthony Diblasi gives a new update to his own 2014 horror film Last Shift with Malum. Diblasi reunites with Last Shift co-writer Scott Poiley, creating an expanded story that strengthens the original narrative and offers even bloodier occult mayhem. Diblasi’s Malum serves as a perfect introduction to his twisted demonic realm while supporting his original film as a fascinating companion piece.
Rookie cop Jessica Loren requests the last shift in a decommissioned police station where a notoriously vicious cult saw their demise years prior. Loren hopes to use the solitude to her advantage as she searches the empty building for answers about her father’s strange death. What should be a simple, quiet evening becomes anything but when the cult members seem to reach out from beyond the grave, plaguing the officer with harrowing visions and torment in attempts to finish what they started.

"Your daddy started something very important..." Welcome Villain has unveiled the official trailer for an indie horror film titled Malum, arriving in theaters only at the end of March. This is actually a new remake of the 2014 horror film Last Shift, made by the same filmmaker updating his own film, similar to the way Sam Raimi made Evil Dead 1 & 2. Helmed by director Anthony Diblasi and co-written by Diblasi and Scott Poiley, Malum re-imagines the original critically-acclaimed horror hit from the festival circuit and expands on the filmmaker's vision of nightmare-inducing terror. A rookie police officer willingly takes the last shift at a newly decommissioned police station in an attempt to uncover the mysterious connection between her police officer father's death and a vicious cult. This updated film stars Jessica Sula as Jessica Loren, with Kevin Wayne, Monroe Cline, Candice Coke, Valerie Loo, Clarke Wolfe, Natalie Victoria. This does look pretty freaky.

Only eight years have gone by since the release of director Anthony Diblasi’s well-received horror feature Last Shift – but the filmmaker has already decided to return to the concept for an “expanded reimagining” that recently wrapped production. Jessica Sula (Split) stars in the currently untitled reimagining, which is coming to us from Welcome Villain Films. This is the company’s first feature.
The Last Shift reimagining centers on
a rookie police officer (Sula) who willingly takes the last shift at a newly decommissioned police station in an attempt to uncover the mysterious connection between her father’s death and a vicious cult. Throughout the night, she finds herself barraged by terrifying supernatural events while unveiling the truth behind her family’s twisted past. This reimagining takes the premise of the 2014 festival hit and flips it on its head, thrusting viewers into a relentless, adrenaline-fueled, bloody cult nightmare.

Earlier this year, brand new production and distribution company Welcome Villain Films launched with “an expanded reimagining” of 2014’s Last Shift in the works. Today, Last Shift announced its lead and a tease of what to expect.
Split actress Jessica Sula (“Scream: The TV Series”) will star in director Anthony Diblasi’s reimagining of his 2014 chiller.
Sula will play “a rookie police officer (Sula) who willingly takes the last shift at a newly decommissioned police station. She hopes to uncover the mysterious connection between her father’s death and a vicious cult, but throughout the night she’s thwarted by terrifying supernatural events that connect to her family’s twisted past.”
The untitled reboot has wrapped production, with post-production expected to finish this fall for a planned 2023 release.
Diblasi co-wrote the upcoming film with Scott Poiley, and it sounds like it will be a much bigger, bloodier affair.

I was sold on Psycho Storm Chaser as soon as I read its synopsis. It reads: ‘An at-home care nurse must survive a category 3 hurricane as well as a storm chasing serial killer that uses storms to cover up his heinous crimes’. I was in luck too because the movie is nearly as dumb and ridiculous as that sounds.
That’s not to say I didn’t like it though. I know there are plenty of movie lovers that will read that synopsis and either decide they are not going to bother with the movie or they are watching it expecting to not enjoy it. I was hoping it would it least meet my relatively low expectations and have some fun with its own story.

Alexandre O. Phillippe’s “Memory: The Origins of Alien” isn’t just a documentary about the making of “Alien”; it’s also an act of film criticism. The new film explores the artistic and cultural traditions that led to the sci-fi-horror masterpiece, characterizing the Ridley Scott film as the ultimate culmination of every nightmare that came before it.
And although Phillippe’s documentary oversells its thesis — and suffers from glaring omissions — it’s a thoughtful love letter to a fascinating classic.
Ridley Scott’s “Alien,” written by Dan O’Bannon with a co-story credit by Ronald Shusett, is one of the most celebrated films of its kind. It’s a terrifying movie, set in space, with a crew of working-class joes and janes encountering unbelievable, Lovecraftian monsters that use the humans’ bodies as incubators. The film has been critically analyzed from top to bottom over the years, exploring the innovative production design,...

Featuring a brilliant cast that includes Rebecca Romijn, Jerry O’Connell, Ruby Modine, Jordan Ladd, Aj Bowen, Jeff Daniel Phillips, as well as up-and-coming actress Hayley Griffith, with a screenplay from Grady Hendrix, Stardust’s infectiously funny horror comedy is centered on a pizza delivery girl (Griffith) who gets more than she bargains for after she decides to confront a group of rich weirdos who stiff her on a tip, and realizes they have sinister plans for both her and her virgin status.
Daily Dead had the opportunity to speak with Stardust recently, and she discussed how she originally became involved with Satanic Panic after already being a fan of the script, her experiences working with her brilliant cast, experiencing the film on the road with various audiences,...

For those of you out there that grew up in the 80s, the phrase “satanic panic” will conjure up all sorts of imagery – mainly surrounding a bunch of middle-class mothers up in arms about Dungeons and Dragons, rock music and more and claiming they were damaging the youth of the America in the 80s and leading them spiritually astray. Basically, a bunch of hardcore Christian types objected to anything that wasn’t what, in their eyes, was clean living – think the British video nasties furore meets Mary Whitehouse… And this film plays on those 80s fears, however flipping the idea on its head and casting those middle-class woman as...

It's directed by Jason Brown of 1A Plate Productions, with a script written by Micah Roland. It's just a simple, fun, entertaining little horror short to get you in the mood for Halloween. I also dig the poster they made for it, seen below, created by artist Ted Bracewell. Watch out. Thanks to Bloody Disgusting for the tip on this short film. Last April, film critic and actress Clarke Wolfe filed a complaint with the Los Angeles Police Department after fans who disagreed with her review of “Man of Steel” threatened to kill her on Instagram. Now, according to TMZ, the Lapd have obtained a search warrant to get Instagram records to help track down the person or persons who made the threats.
After she slammed the superhero movie, she was bombarded with inappropriate comments on her social media sites. One man wrote: “You f****** fake b**** a** whore, no wonder you got fired from AMC. How can you not like Man of Steel?! That movie is a f****** masterpiece! If I ever see you in Burbank, I will f****** kill you b****!”

A film critic who dared to trash "Man of Steel" got a torrent of death threats, and now the Lapd is on the case. Clarke Wolfe, an actress/film critic, didn't like the movie. But that didn't sit well with some hardcore fans, who threatened the hell out of her on social media. Examples: -- "You f****** fake bitch ass whore, no wonder you got fired from AMC. How can you not like Man of Steel?...

Fanboys sending death threats to reviews who disliked a movie they loved is both really stupid and sadly nothing new. Both DC fans and Marvel fans are guilty of this as in 2012, DC fans sent death theats to critics who posted negative reviews on The Dark Knight Rises & Marvel fans did the same thing to those who posted negative reviews for The Avengers. The actions of a few fanboys doesn't meant the entire fanbase act that way but it still is an unfavorable look upon fans. Sadly some fans are back at it more recently. Meet Clarke Wolfe who works at Nerdist Industries and is also a freelance journalist, actor and Podcast host who was recently attacked on Instagram for disliking Man of Steel. Well, someone threatened to kill me on Instagram today. Over Man Of Steel. This shouldn't be a thing. @DCComics pic.twitter.com/WTk89zJWh2 — Clarke Wolfe (@clarkewolfe) April 22, 2016 Ms.

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice opened in theaters this weekend earning over $420 million in worldwide box office sales. This has been one of the most highly-scrutinized releases in recent memory. It's also, oddly, been one of the more contentious in this writer's experience and observation. The fans have had a strong response to the prevailing critical take on the film, which happens with large releases. What's notable, however, is that the average critics grade is about 5/10, while the average audience scores it at roughly a 3.5/5 -- so not as wide a gap as some might imagine. Interestingly enough, the prevailing box office story this weekend became about critics being unable to stop the financial success of this film. What's worth pointing out about that is that the journalists airing and writing these reports know full well that critics were never under any assumption that Batman V Superman wouldn't make money.

Earlier this week, Napster mastermind Sean Parker proposed a new way to watch movies: Screening Room. Screening Room would allow viewers to essentially rent a film – even a Hollywood tentpole – for $50 for a 48-hour period beginning the weekend it opens in theatres. As Variety reports, Hollywood heavy hitters such as Peter Jackson, Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, J.J. With the success of Deadpool in mind, there’s been a great deal of discussion about other potential R-rated superhero movies. Wolverine 3 may aim for an R-rating and there’s already discussion of a R-rated cut of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. To no one’s real surprise, Disney CEO Bob Iger answered the question of a Marvel R-rated film during an investor call with a resounding "no" (via /Film). The McU plans to stay the PG-13 course and let the other studios head down the rated R alleyways. The on again, off again Venom standalone movie at Sony is now back on again. THR broke the news recently that the film is moving forward with Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach producing. The project has gone through several iterations as the studio planned what appeared to be a united Spider-Man universe with their available characters. That plan has since been abandoned.
