Ah, it's the annual Thanksgiving slaughter – and we're not talking about Pilgrims and Indians. As in years past, The X Factor aired a live double elimination last night, and it was once again a total buzzkill. "I hate that we're doing this on Thanksgiving, it's not Ok at all," said mentor Demi Lovato in the understatement of the year as Lillie McCloud and Josh Levi were eliminated from the competition.

Did you know The X Factor is a huge hit in the U.K.? So much so that it unleashed the boy band One Direction on the world? Does that make you want to watch the U.S. version? Didn't think so.
However, Simon Cowell and the producers of the U.S. series love to remind us week after week of what an overseas success story the show is. Problem is, it's an utter mess here in the States. And no matter how many times they work One Direction into the conversation,...

Welcome back to another recap of The X Factor! Or as Paulina Rubio likes to call it, “Where am I? Who am I? And why is there a camera in my face?”
Too mean? Oh well. I mean, yeah, PowPow (as I affectionately think of her) managed to correctly identify all three of her contestants tonight for the first time, but her total butchey of the universally recognized moniker “Mick Jagger” (aka “Meek Yaggar!”) means she’ll continue to play the role of human piñata in this recap zone. var brightcovevideoid = '2842024001001'; It was an emotional week on the set of The X Factor with three acts being sent home. "We've grown so close to a lot of people in the competition and I didn't want to cry or have them be sad on stage," eliminated Sweet Suspense member Millie Thrasher, 14, told People with tears rolling down her face after Thursday's elimination show. "We would have loved to have gone further but I'm proud of us for how far we went." But Thrasher and her bandmates Celine Polenghi, 16, and Summer Reign, 17, were not alone in their sorrow Thursday night.

Kelly Rowland & Paulina Rubio couldn’t believe Rachel got the boot Nov. 14, they told HollywoodLife.com after the ‘unpredictable’ reveal.
As much as we enjoyed watching Sweet Suspense perform on The X Factor, there’s no denying that Rachel Potter‘s elimination was the bigger upset on the show’s Nov. 14 episode. Kelly Rowland appeared to be the judge most upset by Rachel’s untimely exit from the competition. After the show, she told HollywoodLife.com that she’d kiss Simon Cowell if he allowed Rachel to return — she even joked that she “might throw in a little tongue” to sweeten the deal — as Rachel had something “amazing” planned for the following week.
“Rachel had some edge,” Kelly told us. “It’s crazy [what happened].”
Take Our Poll
Paulina Rubio, meanwhile, told us she “never expected” to see Rachel going home this early in the competition.
“Life and music is unpredictable,” she explained.

Sadly, two acts were eliminated tonight — but luckily we saw amazing performances from Selena Gomez and Fifth Harmony to cheer us up! Read on for more details.

Selena Gomez, 21, graced viewers with her presence, dressed in a slinky black outfit, with black boots to match. She surrounded herself with back-up dancers for an electrifying performance of her chart-topping smash, “Slow Down.” With her energy and stage presence, we’re thinking Selena could teach the current crop of contestants a thing or two about having the “x” factor.

X Factor contestants, I feel for you. (Yes, that was a Chaka Khan reference.)
Let’s be honest: Your mentors are constantly trying to upstage you with superfluous (sometimes ¡interpretive!) dancers. The apocalyptic on-stage lighting situation is probably only manageable with the use of alcohol, Prozac, intensive psychotherapy or all of the above. And you’re expected to not curl into the fetal position and cry “Mommy!” every time Paulina Rubio slurs into your eyes with a string of words including (but not limited to): “America!” “Nailed it!” “Loved it!” and some mutilated variation on your stage name.

There were some surprising results on "The X Factor" Thursday night (Nov. 14,) leaving both the audience and the judges stunned.
The first act eliminated (the one in the bottom) was Simon's girl group Sweet Suspense, which honestly is not a huge surprise. They were one of the weakest performances last night.
However, we then fully expected the sing-off to be between Ellona Santiago and Carlito Olivera, but in a shocking turn of events, it was between Rachel Potter and Khaya Cohen. Their sing-off was decent, but we gave the edge to Khaya -- both last night and tonight.
And the judges reflected that. Naturally, Kelly Rowland chose to keep Rachel because she's her mentor, but the other three chose to keep Khaya. It's a shame, but Rachel didn't pick a great song last night.
What did you think about the Top 12 results, "X Factor" fans?...

Chug, chug, chug. The X Factor keeps lurching along despite an embarrassing voting glitch and record-low ratings. And it's doubtful its lackluster, borderline unwatchable Eighties night will help matters.

The X Factor was all about big hair and even bigger results Wednesday night.
Carlos Guevara was the first Top 13 contestant to be eliminated as the show kicked off by announcing results after last week's technical glitch nullified the voting.
Then it was back to the '80s, as the contestants took on songs from the era of Madonna's fingerless-gloved heyday.
Lillie McCloud, 54, who kicked off the night with Chaka Khan's "Ain't Nobody," impressed judges by making the song current and prompted Simon Cowell to ask, "You're a naughty little thing, aren't you?"

The most confounding portion of tonight’s Top 12 performance telecast was:
A. Paulina Rubio’s continued employment in the face of her enthusiastic incompetence
B. Paulina’s insistence on using the word “America” while introducing her acts (Gurrl, it’ll take more than that to win us over, I’m afraid)
C. The screaming of the lambs audience

When we join "The X Factor," host Mario Lopez informs us that it's '80s night -- but he emphasizes hits from the nineteen-eighties, which really makes us wonder if he thinks anybody is confused it might be the eighteen-eighties.
Meanwhile, the female judges are decked out in their best '80s attire, which is awesome. Scroogey old Simon, however, cannot be bothered to put a suit jacket on over his plain white t-shirt and rock a Crockett and/or Tubbs look. For shame, Cowell.
However, we must eliminate someone first. You know, we hope they told the act who was eliminated last week when it actually happened so that he or she didn't have to rehearse all this week like normal. That just seems mean.
Anyway, Carlos Guevara is eliminated and for once, America got it exactly right. He had a couple very rough nights, he shouldn't have advanced out of the four-chair challenge.

Due to a voting glitch, the "X Factor" Top 13 are at it again, performing their results show "save me" songs in what turns out to be a nicely-paced, filler-free hour of TV. Wish every week went this quickly.
Those who were able to turn in a second good performance this week include Josh Levi, Jeff Gutt and Lillie McCloud. They all rocked it last night and rocked it again tonight.
The acts who showed marked improvement include Rachel Potter, Ellona Santiago, Alex & Sierra, Khaya Cohen, Carlito Olivero and Rion Paige. A lot of those improvements had to do with song choice. Motown was not kind to them, but tonight they all were pretty solid.
Carlos Guevara continues to be the weakest singer there and did not do very well either night, but if he's popular with the young voters, then Tim Olstad and Sweet Suspense could be in some trouble.

Even when The X Factor tries, it fails.
After last week's questionable eliminations, the judges apparently sensed something was wrong and wanted to fix it. So they decided to bring back a "wild card" contestant – someone the judges think deserves a second chance after getting kicked off.

Like that expensive cheese in your fridge that unexpectedly presents with a patch of furry blue mold, The X Factor is the reality competition that asks the eternal question: To toss the whole package into the trash compactor with a satisfying whirr — or to press the Ctrl+Scrape+Eat button.
