Almost every person of Arab, Muslim and Jewish heritage working in TV and film has experienced a deterioration in their mental health following Hamas’ October 7 attack and the subsequent humanitarian crisis in Gaza, a leading charity has reported.
A startling 94% surveyed by the Film & TV Charity reported their mental health or psychological and mental wellbeing had declined following the tragic events in Israel and Palestine over the past four-and-a-half months. Among this figure, 92% of Jewish respondents and 95% of Muslim and Arab respondents said this was the case, and just 24% felt supported by their employers.
The survey was followed by a series of countable discussions between senior leaders from the major UK networks, production companies, newsroom execs, industry bodies and representatives from British Muslim, Arab, and Jewish communities working in the film and TV industry. A couple months ago, we heard a rumor that a team of supernatural characters known as the Midnight Sons might be coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe… and now Oscar Isaac has let it be known that if a Midnight Sons project were to happen, he wants his MCU character Moon Knight to be part of it!
As I’ve said before, one of my favorite comic book story arcs is the “Rise of the Midnight Sons”, where Doctor Strange oversaw the formation of a team of supernatural heroes – Ghost Rider, Johnny Blaze, Morbius, the Nightstalkers, and Darkhold characters Vicki Montesi, Louise Hastings, and Sam Buchanan – who were brought together to battle Lilith, the Mother of All Demons, and her evil offspring, the Lilin. There have been different variations of the Midnight Sons over the years, with other team members like Daimon Hellstrom, Jennifer Kale, Werewolf by Night, Man-Thing, The Hood,...

Hulu’s “Helstrom” might sport an elaborate mythology, but like many comic book stories, it ultimately reveals a simplistic core. Loosely based on Marvel comics characters, “Helstrom” follows Daimon (Tom Austen) and Ana (Sydney Lemmon) Helstrom, two adult siblings with psychic powers and an intimate connection with the demon world. Both use their gift in different ways: Daimon teaches ethics by day and performs secular exorcisms by night, while Ana runs an auction house and kills violent offenders who slip through society’s cracks. They’re reunited when the demon that has possessed their institutionalized mother, Victoria (Elizabeth Marvel), revives the Helstrom’s long-dead serial killer father who wishes to exact his revenge. On top of this, they have to deal with the numerous demons already roaming the Earth, plotting to wreak havoc at all times.

The Helstrom panel at Comic-Con@Home opened on a somber note as stars June Carryl and Robert Wisdom revealed their own experiences of racism and how it ties into the Hulu drama.
“This show is timely because it’s about people trying to figure out who they are in the face of pure evil and that’s exactly where we are right now,” said Carryl, who plays Dr. Louise Hastings.
Carryl said that assumptions, projections, suspicion, appropriation, objectification, slurs, violation and lack of representation are a few of the “million ways you can kill someone” and revealed that she has to do a lot every time she leaves the house to feel safe.
“I am not sure why given all that it still takes watching someone die in 8 minutes and 46 seconds to finally recognise it’s all damage and it’s all the same death,” she added. “Everybody feels bad...

The Helstrom family exhibits very “unnatural behavior” (as Vatican agent Gabriella Rosetti puts it) in the first teaser for Hulu‘s upcoming series based on the Marvel comic books.

Tom Austen will play Daimon Helstrom - A professor of ethics who moonlights as an exorcist, Daimon has no illusions about saving a world he has no patience for; he just hopes he can help a few of the people closest to him.
In his battle against a hidden world, Daimon is determined to root out demons as they arise, and will not stop until they're vanquished.

Hulu and Marvel have announced the ensemble cast for the upcoming series Helstrom, the story of which “follows siblings and supposed serial killer offspring Daimon Helstrom (Austen) and Ana Helstrom (Lemmon). Plagued by their family background, the Helstroms will pursue the world’s vilest of the vile — with some family drama of their own.”
Tom Austen will take on the role of Daimon and Sydney Lemmon (Fear the Walking Dead) will play Ana. They will be joined by Elizabeth Marvel, Ariana Guerra (Raising Dion), Robert Wisdom (Ballers), June Carryl (Mindhunter), and Alain Uy (The Passage).
When talking about the cast, executive producer Paul Zbyszewski said:
“We feel incredibly fortunate to have landed a cast loaded with this much talent. From the beginning, we knew we’d need a group of actors who were multifaceted, who could play all the chords any great Marvel show promises to play, from dramatic thriller to comedy to action.

Helstrom, the developing Hulu Marvel TV series with horror roots, has revealed its primary cast lineup.
Marvel’s Helstrom just lifted its demonic veil to reveal the primary cast for the Hulu-bound horror series.
With this 10-episode ordered TV adaptation bearing origins from Marvel Comics’ 1970s horror title heyday with the series, The Son of Satan, the TV adaptation of Helstrom is sounding more like a crime-solver thriller, with the description explaining, “Daimon and Ana Helstrom are the son and daughter of a mysterious and powerful serial killer. The siblings have a complicated dynamic as they track down the terrorizing worst of humanity, each with their attitude and skills."
Paul Zbyszewski serves as showrunner and executive producer, joined in the latter capacity by the head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb.
Without further ado, here’s the cast lineup for Marvel’s Helstrom with their official character descriptions.

As with any major announcement, Jodie Whittaker being named the 13th Doctor was a closely guarded secret. So much so, in fact, that higher-ups at BBC braced themselves for spoilers by pretending that the new star of “Doctor Who” was going to be another man — an effort that included using a male body in the visuals presented to their visual-effects house for storyboards of the scene in which the Doctor regenerates.
“The BBC actually had us quote her first scene before we knew it was gonna be Jodie, via storyboards,” Louise Hastings said, according to Radio Times. “And the storyboards had been drawn with a man as the Doctor, so that was a bit of a surprise! I was looking through a list of the favorites to be the Doctor and comparing them to the pictures, but I was wrong, I couldn’t figure it out. They threw us off the scent.

With a show as ambitious as Doctor Who, it needs a talented special effects team behind it in order to bring its mad ideas – including aliens, spaceships and entire planets – to life. Since the series returned to our screens in 2005, VFX company Milk have handled things in that area and have done an incredible job, especially considering the show operates on a limited TV budget.
That said, fans might need to be prepared for an increase in quality starting with season 11. As part of the show-wide revamp, the Doctor Who production team will bring in a new VFX company – and they’re one of the biggest in the business. Double Negative has worked on a huge range of blockbusters in recent years, including everything from James Bond movies to the Dark Knight trilogy to Marvel’s current smash-hit Black Panther.

Before the Powers That Be were ready to unveil Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor, the BBC had its staffers convinced that the next Time Lord was male.
As part of its all-encompassing plan to keep Whittaker’s Doctor Who casting a secret, the British broadcaster told members of the show’s production team – specifically those involved in the rendering of Peter Capaldi’s regeneration – that Doctor number 13 was a male actor in order to throw everyone “off the scent.”
Louise Hastings, a visual effects producer at Milk VFX, recalled the BBC’s smoke-and-mirrors strategy in a recent interview with RadioTimes:
