Murderville is returning for a special episode this holiday season. On the Netflix murder mystery-comedy series, senior detective Terry Seattle (Will Arnett) will investigate the murder of Santa. In the episode, Arnett will be joined by Jason Bateman, Maya Rudolph, Eliza Coupe, Kurt Braunohler, Haneefah Wood, Lilan Bowden, Dennice Cisneros, Tawny Newsome, and Courtney Parchman.
The Murderville series debuted in February with six episodes. There's been no word yet on the possibility of a second season, but decisions are typically made within a month or two of a show's debut. The release of a holiday special 10 months later would seem to indicate that the series may still have a chance of being renewed.

The story of a would-be vampire fantasy novelist who unexpectedly finds herself playing host to a real vampire, Red Snow is a romcom of sorts with a distinctly higher than usual quotient of blood and gore. It centres on an ebullient performance by Dennice Cisneros, as Olivia, with Nico Bellamy as the undead Luke who arrives in the form of a wounded bat and depends on her for help, yet struggles to see her as more than just food. It was part of the 2021 Frightfest line-up and is now enjoying a December release in the UK and Eire – fitting because it is, amongst other things, a Christmas film. When director Sean Nichols Lynch and I meet up to discuss it, I begin by asking if he’s excited about joining the canon of alternative seasonal fare.

This black comedy about an author of romantic vampire novels with an unexpected visitor is sucked dry of dramatic tension
Home Alone meets The Lost Boys in this trashy half-way entertaining Christmas vampire movie from director Sean Nichols Lynch; it’s a black comedy with some silly splattery gore. Lynch makes the most of a limited budget and his self-aware script is sometimes genuinely funny, too. Still, you wouldn’t exactly call it light of touch and the actors struggle a bit with the comic register. Some scenes leave you wondering: is this intentionally naff or just a bit wooden?
The setting is Lake Tahoe a couple of nights before Christmas. Dennice Cisneros plays Olivia, an unpublished author of romantic vampire novels who lives alone; her kitchen drawer is stuffed full of rejection letters. Any jobbing writer will sympathise with Olivia’s decision-making when she rescues a bat that turns...

Over the Christmas period, vampire romance novelist Olivia, saves a bat from death after it flies into her house. This was no ordinary bat though and she soon finds herself trying to fend off real-life vampires…
Anyone that has read more than a handful of my reviews or read a review or article of mine in November or December will know that I love Christmas and therefore of course, Christmas movies. I’m instantly drawn to any new Christmas horror hoping it will be more like Michael Dougherty’s Krampus and not one of the dozens of other straight to DVD Krampus movies.
I will get one of my main issues with Red Snow out of the way first. Unless I am mistaken there seems to be know reason for this movie to be set at Christmas.

Stating one’s occupation as ‘writer’ is a tricky thing. It tends to be met with incredulity, and one has to explain, “No, I actually make my living this way. This is how I eat,” before anybody takes it seriously. That’s because the vast majority of people who describe themselves that way are not professional writers but enthusiastic amateurs – and whilst there’s nothing wrong with having a hobby, or with creating niche literature which lacks market potential, there’s something faintly worrying about how many of those people have written vampire books in which otherworldly antiheroes fall head over heels in love with thoroughly mediocre mortals.
Barely one in a million of those writers will make it to print, yet most entertain dreams of having the next bestseller. Olivia (Dennice Cisneros) fits the type perfectly except for two things: there are reserves of character within her which she just doesn’t know about.
