Mediamorfosis, Latin America’s largest new media forum, is returning this summer after the Covid-19 pandemic saw its cancellation last year. As the global health crisis continues to rage across the region, the forum will take place online over July 27-31 this year.
The virtual conference has launched its open call, which will run from May 10 to June 10, for immersive and interactive projects to participate in what will be its 27th edition.
Projects in various formats and genres such as transmedia, VR, Ar, and mixed reality are invited to participate in its pitching workshop, designed to prepare Latin American Xr and interactive projects for international presentations, pitching sessions and market activities.

The Television Academy announced the juried award winners for the 2020 Emmy Awards in categories including Animation, Choreography, Interactive Programming and Motion Design, set to be celebrated at the 2020 Creative Arts Awards ceremony on Thursday, Sept. 17, streaming on Emmys.com.
Among the winners is artist and animator Genndy Tartakovsky, who has now won four Emmys total, the latest for his work as storyboard artist on his Adult Swim series “Primal.” The series received two other juried wins this year in addition to Tartakovsky’s: one for art director Scott Wills and one for character designer Stephan DeStefano. Juried awards for the 72nd Emmy Awards were revealed Tuesday, with honors in the categories of animation, choreography, interactive programming and motion design going to the likes of animator Genndy Tartakovsky for Primal, Mandy Moore for her choreography on NBC’s Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist and the team from Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s HitRecord.

It’s been another year replete with strong movies hungry for awards season attention, as well as a fair share of controversy. And, it’s anybody’s guess which way Lucrecia Martel’s jury will swing.

65 filmmaker teams from around the world will pitch to international and UK decision makers.
Sheffield Doc/Fest (June 7-12) has revealed the titles that will pitch for funding at the 14th edition of its MeetMarket initiative.
A total of 65 filmmaker teams from 20 countries will pitch to international and UK decision makers for research, development and production funding. Around 300 decision makers from 20 countries are expected with execs from YouTube, ESPN, Starz and The Financial Times.
At the Alternate Realities Market, which includes digital titles, a further 25 Vr and interactive projects will pitch in one-to-one meetings to a range of specialist decision makers.

The 16th annual Tribeca Film Festival announced today its lineup of immersive films, including 29 Vr and interactive projects in its Storyscapes and Virtual Arcade exhibits. Tribeca was one of the first U.S. festivals to showcase experimental storytelling projects, and as such the festival attracts world premieres from some of the vastly growing industry’s leading creators and studios.
Highlights include a virtual reality tour of the White House led by Barack and Michelle Obama; a new Vr collaboration from Chris Milk and by Pharell Williams; a mystery starring Emily Mortimer and Alessandro Nivola from interactive studio Eko; and a multidisciplinary exploration of women of color’s experience through the lens of technology, society and culture, titled “NeuroSpeculative AfroFeminism.”
