Samuel Akpovi
- Composer
Samuel Akpovi is young composer, fresh onto the scoring stage into the
Film world. He considers his love of music to be a strong but silent
influence throughout his life early on, in comparison to sports, which
played a dominant role from the age of three.
As he began singing at the age of nine, throughout his formative years, leading up through private school, his interests in music began to take center stage. In college he began serious study and devotion to music, graduating from California State University Northridge with a bachelors degree in music industry, studying piano performance under Dr. Jacqueline Salas whilst individually studying songwriting and composition with renowned teacher, pianist and composer Margie Balter.
Samuel resides in Cape Town, South Africa, having completed a diploma in jazz performance at The University Of Cape Town and working as a freelance film composer. He continues to thrive in the beginnings of what will become an adventurous, extensive career in the industry, having already scored music for several short films. His scores have been sourced for The University Of Cape Town: Film School , Roll The Dice Pictures and Mora Fair Pictures, through his music company Safrus Music.
Samuel incorporates a wide variety of musical elements into his scores though not limited to electronic, synth and improvisation, with conventional orchestral, popular and modern classical films styles within the world of film music.
