Yesterday evening, the news broke that Disney has resurrected the "Marvel Television" banner for future live-action TV shows on Disney+. The hope is that this will allow that division to focus on streaming, while Marvel Studios concentrates on the movies.
It's all part of a plan to get back to quality over quantity after a rocky few years. However, there's a big difference between this Marvel Television and the one which launched in 2010 and was ultimately shuttered in 2019 when Kevin Feige took charge.
The news got us thinking about the original Marvel Television's stint and the many mistakes made under the man in charge, Jeph Loeb. In this feature, we take a look back at their biggest blunders and what Marvel Studios can learn from them.

The rumour mill continues churning out possible Deadpool & Wolverine cameos and, if we're not careful, disappointment will soon follow.
While the upcoming threequel is bound to feature some massive surprises, we've already seen what happens when fans set their expectations too high. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness included appearances from Professor X, Black Bolt, and Mister Fantastic, but even that wasn't enough for those who went in hoping to see Spider-Man and Tom Cruise!
Dafne Keen played X-23 in 2017's Logan and there have been rumblings for a while now that she'll suit up and reprise the role in Deadpool & Wolverine.
Asked about that in a recent interview, The Acolyte star chose her words carefully. "I mean...I can’t wait. The trailer looked incredible!" Keen responded, largely dodging the question. "This is all really crazy and I’m looking forward to seeing it."

The concept of the Multiverse, although introduced pretty early on in Phase 5 of the MCU, was properly and extensively explored in the 2022 MCU film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, where alternate realities and other dimensions were elaborated in details.
But with new avenues also came new problems in terms of tackling them, and screenwriter Michael Waldron caught a case of writer’s block when he had to kill Blackbolt in the film.

But thankfully, filmmaker Sam Raimi was there to aid him with his quick and somewhat genius idea. When Waldron posed this problem to the director, he simply suggested he let Wanda take away his mouth since Blackbolt’s superpower was his voice. While it was pretty simple, it also took away from any major confrontation, which made it somewhat counterproductive for the fans to enjoy.

Following Jonathan Major’s debacle and Marvel Studios firing him as MCU’s big bad Kang, there has been huge speculation regarding the next big bad. However, a new rumor indicates that the superhero brand already had a contingency plan, and that is bringing Doctor Doom to the MCU.

In Sam Raimi's 2022 superhero film "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness," the titular wizard (Benedict Cumberbatch) was able to skip across multiple dimensions merrily, thanks to the portal-creating superpowers of one America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez). Halfway through the film, Doctor Strange finds himself in a distant dimension, standing in the courtroom of the Illuminati, a superhero team that a parallel version of himself once belonged to. The Illuminati explains to the good Doctor that his alternate self has gone mad and needs to be executed, something they find might be true of the O.G. Doctor Strange as well.
In an orgy of fan service, the Illuminati is made up of alternate Marvel characters culled from the history of Marvel media. Black Bolt (Anson Mount) is from the oft-forgotten TV series "Inhumans." There is an alternate Captain Marvel (Lashana Lynch) as she was seen in 2019's "Captain Marvel.

It’s been over a year since the MCU film made it’s way into theaters and it’s safe to say that Multiverse of Madness is a mixed bag to most fans and critics. However, the most frustrating aspect of the 2022 feature is the cameo that saw the returns of Professor X (Patrick Stewart) and Black Bolt (Anson Mount). Along with a star filled cameo that includes Baron Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor) Captain Marvel (Lashana Lynch), Hayley Atwell (Captain Carter), and Mr. Fantastic (John Krasinski). This was a cool moment because it presented an alternative to the future of the MCU and...

‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ unveiled a familiar Marvel comic book think-tank, The Illuminati.
This iteration of The Illuminati originated from the alternate Earth-838. A formidable group, spearheaded by Earth-838’s Stephen Strange, formed to shield their universe from formidable threats like cosmic entities and interdimensional invasions.
The initial roster included Stephen Strange, Charles Xavier, Peggy Carter, Blackagar Boltagon, Maria Rambeau, and Reed Richards. Karl Mordo joined after Strange’s demise following the Battle of Titan. Unfortunately, the Illuminati met their end, thanks to Wanda Maximoff, who spared only Mordo.
Now, as per rumors circulating from a reliable leaker on X CanWeGetSomeToast, the Earth-199999 version of the Illuminati in the MCU will feature Carol Danvers, Wong, and Bruce Banner.

‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ introduced us to a well-known think-tank from the comics, The Illuminati.
That version of The Illuminati hailed from parallel Earth-838. A bunch of heavy hitters led by Earth-838’s Stephen Strange formed the Illuminati to safeguard their realm from major dangers like cosmic entities and interdimensional invasions.
The initial lineup featured Stephen Strange, Charles Xavier, Peggy Carter, Blackagar Boltagon, Maria Rambeau, and Reed Richards. Karl Mordo hopped on board after Strange bit the dust post-Battle of Titan. Unfortunately, the Illuminati got the axe later on, courtesy of Wanda Maximoff, who wiped out everyone but Mordo.
Now, according to the rumors started by a well-known leaker on X CanWeGetSomeToast, the version of the Illuminati from mainline MCU Earth-199999 will consist of Carol Danvers, Wong, and Bruce Banner.

New designs for Maria Rambeau’s Captain Marvel cameo in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness were just unveiled.
It’s easy to see how Maria’s brief appearance in the film often gets overlooked. After all, she is surrounded by legendary characters like Black Bolt, Professor X, Captain Carter, and Reed Richards.
While those bigger names might have more notoriety, this Captain Marvel outlasted them all—even if she did eventually succumb to the powerful Scarlet Witch.

Back when Marvel was first dipping its toes into the waters of television with shows like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., then-Marvel TV boss Jeph Loeb liked to use the phrase “It’s all connected” as a selling point. The idea was not just that the various Marvel series — whether Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter on ABC, or, say, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage on Netflix — would clearly take place in the same fictional world as one another, but they would also be linked to the wildly popular Marvel Cinematic Universe on the big screen.

Marvel is bringing Secret Invasion to your streaming device, and we’re about to see what the Skrulls have been up to since we discovered that Nick Fury had been a shapeshifter at the end of Spider-Man: Far From Home. Since then, it seems like a lot may have been going on. Skrulls have found their way into positions of power in the MCU and are ready to reveal themselves for a global takeover.
This series could reveal to all of us that some of our favorite characters have been Skrulls this whole time. How would the other MCU characters react when they discovered that some of their closest allies were Skrulls? It could be chaos. Of course, that was their plan the whole time.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness had a lot going on, but one character that appears in the mid-credits scene is more important than it might seem. The movie boasted plenty of important characters from ancillary properties like X-Men’s Charles Xavier or Black Bolt from the much-maligned Inhumans, to alternate versions of Peggy Carter and Captain Marvel, to the first inclusion of Reed Richards of the Fantastic Four. Even with all of these figures, perhaps the most mysterious was the purple-clad sorceress who appeared in a mid-credit scene. Played by Charlize Theron, Clea’s appearance in Multiverse of Madness was...

Even though Agents of Shield and its loose connections to the Marvel Cinematic Universe seem to be a thing of the past, there still might be a chance for fan favorite characters to return if the circumstances are right. We’ve already seen Anson Mount reprise his role as Black Bolt from the short-lived Inhumans series in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and thanks to the ever-expanding multiverse of the MCU it could be only a matter of time before we see other fan-favorite characters appear.

DC Studios will take a leaf out of its rival’s book with The Flash’s alternate-reality plot. Cheap gimmick – or smart path to revival?
Whether you liked the movie or not, most comic book fans would probably admit that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness handled the concept of alternate realities superbly on a creative level. Opening up portals to other universes allowed Marvel to introduce old favourites such as Patrick Stewart’s Professor X into the MCU without having to explain how they got there.
Sam Raimi’s high-octane, hyper-kinetic style lent itself perfectly to the scene in which Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch sent Charles Xavier, Mister Fantastic, Captain Carter, Captain Marvel and Black Bolt into oblivion without so much as a pause. When you’re dealing with movies as enormous as those in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there’s bound to be a lot of rumours, but once the movie is released, fans quickly realize which were true and which weren’t. There were plenty of rumours swirling before the release of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, including one that claimed Daniel Craig would make an appearance.
It was rumoured that Daniel Craig would have appeared in the Doctor Strange sequel as Balder the Brave, Thor’s brother, and concept art of the character even emerged with Craig’s likeness. But while speaking with BBC Radio 1, Craig dismissed the rumours as just that. “It’s all a rumor,” Craig said with a laugh. “I don’t know where these things come from… There was a lot of lockdown craziness. We've always known that Scarlet Witch is one of the most powerful characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Ever since she first debuted her twitchy hand magic and red-tinted psychic abilities, it was very clear that few heroes would ever stand a chance. A regular ol' supersoldier versus her undefined psychic abilities? Steve Rogers could never. In fact, the entire Avengers crew nearly imploded from the inside thanks to Wanda sprinkling some mind manipulation to bring their deepest fears to life. But lucky for them, her time on the dark side was just a misunderstanding! By the end of her debut film, "Avengers: Age of Ultron," Wanda abandoned Hydra to join forces with the Avengers. If only the story ended there...
Wanda's time as a hero spanned five movies before there was a seismic change. Along with upending the entire universe, the end of the Infinity Saga severely altered Scarlet Witch as a person.

Before Disney+ and Kevin Feige brought television series into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D" was a fan-favorite network television underdog. Born out of 2012's "The Avengers," the show followed a team of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents assembled by a newly not-dead Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg). Thanks to a strong fanbase, "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." survived cancellation multiple times with rallying cries on social media like #CoulsonLives and #SaveAgentsOfSHIELD.
"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." had a rough start, but then "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" hit theaters, revealing the McU's biggest twist thus far. Since S.H.I.E.L.D.'s inception, Hydra had moles on the inside. The show's story exploded from there, exploring how these street-level agents grapple with the aftermath. What started as a seemingly typical network "villain of the week" formula became a great companion piece to the movies. As the seasons progressed, the...

The Man Without Fear’s world will officially get a little more frightening! When Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk appeared on the Disney+ series Hawkeye, just one week after Charlie Cox’s blind lawyer Matt Murdock showed up in Spider-Man: No Way Home, rumors immediately began swirling about a showdown between the two. The Netflix Marvel shows may have a mixed legacy, but the clashes between Kingpin and Daredevil remain fan favorites. The Hollywood Reporter has now confirmed that both characters will be in the upcoming Hawkeye spin-off Echo, meaning the two will finally meet in the MCU.
Outside of a rebooted Daredevil series, Echo is the most sensible place for the two to resume their hostilities. Played by Alaqua Cox, Maya Lopez aka Echo may have shown up on TV screens hunting Clint Barton in Hawkeye,...

With Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness now available to stream on Disney+, fans can slow things down and look closely at the many easter eggs hidden in the movie. Unsurprisingly, the cameo-laden Illuminati scene gets the most attention, in which Professor Xavier of the X-Men and the Black Bolt of Inhumans return to screen. Even more surprising was the appearance of “the world’s smartest man” Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic, of the Fantastic Four, played not by previous actors Ioan Gruffudd or Miles Teller, but by John Krasinski of The Office fame.
With more time to examine the scene, some internet users noticed a larger universe easter egg in the way that Richards arrived. Unlike most of the other Illuminati members, Richards is not seated when Baron Modo brings Strange into their chamber. Rather, Richards...
