Star in an inspiring play about chosen family in an unlikely place this spring. Written by Cori Thomas and directed by Jeff Adler, “Citizens Market” will follow a hopeful group of immigrants who form an unlikely family as employees at a New York City supermarket “working to master the ups and downs of language, love, and staying afloat in the city that never sleeps.” The production is seeking Equity actors for the five principal roles in the play. Talent, aged 20–69, of all ethnicities, is wanted for the roles, though the characters will be immigrants from Romania, Sierra Leone, Ghana, and El Salvador. There will be an Equity Principal Audition on March 27 in Atlanta, Georgia. Local actors or actors who have Atlanta, Georgia housing and are able to work locally are strongly encouraged to apply. Rehearsals will begin on April 16 and performances will run May 25–June 24. Join the family by applying directly on Backstage here!

Stars: Jessica Morris, Kaiwi Lyman, Jeff Adler, Jamie Bernadette | Written by Danny Draven, Shane Bitterling | Directed by Danny Draven
Danny Draven, who some genre fans will know as the director of Hell Asylum, Deathbed and other low budget fare, is back behind the camera for Ghost Asylum – a cheap (and audience-screwing) retitling of his 2012 film Reel Evil, which has already been released by 88 Films under its original title in 2014! The cast are fairly unknown so I won’t delve into their history in film here, it doesn’t need to be spoken about for this review to make sense.
Ghost Asylum is a found footage style horror movie, along the lines of Blair Witch and such, but sadly it doesn’t have the curiosity and originality of some found footage films, and instead follows cliques and falls flat in many areas throughout its short 78 minute running time.
The story follows some struggling film-makers,...
