In their recap of the episode, Symone was “ready to talk smack,” even about her season 13 sisters Kandy Muse and Lala Ri. Symone said that Jimbo was a frontrunner “out the gate” from the moment she walked into the Werk Room in a nude body suit and flip flops. Bianca was still rooting for Jessica Wild and thought she could have won until Kandy eliminated her last week. In last week’s episode of Ru Paul’s Drag Race All-Stars season eight we saw Lala Ri and Heidi N Closet really shine as the bumbling duo of inexperience criminals and Jimbo claim the win after performing as an unhindered character dragged into a murderous rampage after being bullied by some popular girls in school! Jimbo keeps up her streak of losing every single lip-sync she had ever competed in on the show as we see the return of Shannel all the way from season one! I do have to say that the performance itself was fairly repetitive with the returning assassin twirling and Jimbo head-banging throughout! We sadly had to say farewell to Darienne Lake after Alexis Michelle essentially blamed the whole team’s shortcomings on her as the dead celebrity island was initially Darienne’s idea. I thought that while the idea was hers initially there was plenty...

There are many challenges that without a doubt occur at some point in any season of Drag Race. Whether that be a songwriting challenge, the snatch game or (most importantly for the most recent episode) a design challenge where the queens have to create unique outfits in the werk-room. One of the biggest storylines going into this season was that infamous bag dress created by Lala Ri in her original season and how she would cope with a design challenge when she was invited back for All-Stars eight. She showcased incredible growth with her handmade outfit this time but the best dresses award was reserved for Jessica Wilde who also won the preceding lip-sync to gain a $30,000 cash tip in the process! My favourite outfit from this episode would have to be Jessica’s diary queen outfit which was a gorgeous white gown with cascading fruit loops scattered around the dress!

Kornbread never got to do “Snatch Game” herself and told Bianca that she had planned to perform as Leslie Jordan or the Tiger King. Being in the bottom can be a one-time blip for a Drag Race competitor. As with any reality competition show, you want to avoid multiple stints in the red. Darienne Lake was in the bottom in RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 8 Episode 4, but that wasn’t a rare occurrence; she had just been in the bottom two the episode prior, when Mrs. Kasha Davis was sent home. What was rare, however, was that Darienne was up for elimination alongside two other queens instead of one. Host RuPaul deemed Darienne, Alexis Michelle, and Jaymes Mansfield’s group performance the worst of the episode, sending an uncommon trio into the deep end. The episode’s winner, Jimbo, went up against Lip Sync Assassin Shannel (the first queen to ever appear on Drag Race in Season 1) for the rights to send one queen home. And in the end, the group chose Darienne.

I have to say that out of all of the opening episodes Drag Race has had over the last couple of years, last week’s episode of Ru Paul’s Drag Race All-Stars season eight was one of the better ones! The returning (and mostly fan favourite) queens were grouped together to perform on two different versions of “Fame, Money, Success and Glamour” and while the song itself wasn’t particularly iconic every queen did a really good job of reintroducing themselves to the audience! However, the highlight of the episode would have to be the That lip-sync between episode winner Kahana Montrese and secret lip-sync assassin Aja. This lip-sync was one of my favourite battles I have seen in a long time with both queens bringing a different style of performance – with the former showcasing her Vegas-centric, pop icon genre which contrasted beautifully against the latter ballroom excellence! However, it...

I have to admit that going into the opening episode of this season of Ru Paul’s Drag Race All-Stars I was quite surprised by the selection of queens asked to return to the werk-room. Don’t get me wrong every single one of the queens are extremely talented but some of these were not obvious choices or necessarily queens I would invite if I was in charge of casting. Unlike previous seasons there are not a lot of queens who have made it to the top four/three on their original seasons in fact there are quite a few queens in this iteration of all-stars who were eliminated first!
The first queen returning to our screens is the blessed and highly-favoured, gap-tooth icon Heidi N Closet from season twelve. This fan-favourite queen has been extremely busy recently with her podcast Hall and Closet (with co-star and season twelve winner...

In their recap of episode 1, Bianca and Alaska started by critiquing the opening look choices that the queens made. Alaska was confused why Naysha Lopez put on a prison jumpsuit, favoring more the queens that extended their known brand in their looks, like Kahanna Montrese and Heidi N Closet. Alaska’s personal favorite though was Jaymes Mansfield‘s and Bianca preferred Jimbo for being different and fun. Then, for the “Famous Then” and “Famous Now” runway mini challenge, Alaska and Bianca both liked Alexis Michelle‘s looks most.

Sickening runways, a gag-worthy twist and Idina Menzel emoting for the gods? Frankly, we don’t deserve RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars.
Worthy or not, though, we’ve got a brand-new season on our hands! Friday’s premiere welcomed an eclectic group of familiar faces back to the Werk Room for a second shot at glory — or a third if you count Jimbo, the only queen to have already competed twice (on Canada’s Drag Race Season 1 and Drag Race: UK vs the World).

In May, Paramount+ is will be the streaming home for a host of new titles, including the well-timed documentary “King Charles: The Boy Who Walked Alone.” Utilizing original footage and interviews with staffers and friends, this CBS News film provides an insider’s look at England’s newest ruler. Bullied by his father and the child of an unemotional mother, Charles grew up isolated from his parents, the product of, in the words of one friend, “a spectacularly dysfunctional family.” A behind-the-scenes look at his marriage to Princess Diana and his future as the British sovereign are explored on May 2, just days before his official coronation.
Check out the “King Charles: The Boy Who Walked Alone” trailer:
