Sam Fischer is a native Californian, growing up in San Diego. Mr. Fischer graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Brown University in 1978 and attended UCLA Law School, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Federal Communications Law Journal. After graduating law school in 1982, he joined the entertainment department of Mitchell, Silberberg & Knupp before moving to Ziffren Brittenham LLP in 1984. Mr. Fischer has been a partner with the firm since 1986 and previously served as its managing partner.
Mr. Fischer has a transactional law practice representing some of the top actors, writers, directors, producers, executives and companies in the motion picture, television and new media areas.
In 1995, the National Law Journal named Mr. Fischer one of the top 40 lawyers in the nation under 40 and American Lawyer Magazine named him one of the top 45 lawyers in the nation under the age of 45. He has been named by The Hollywood Reporter as one of the "100 Power Lawyers in the Entertainment Industry" and was designated a "Legal Legend" in 2021. Variety has listed Mr. Fischer as one of the "Top 500 Entertainment Business Leaders" and WhoRepresents.com has named him one of the "Top 25 Representatives in Hollywood." Mr. Fischer has also been on the list of Southern California Super Lawyers since 2004.
Mr. Fischer is the Co-Chair of the UCLA Board of Advisors. He is the Co-Chair of the Brown University President's Advisory Council on the College and also served on the Southern California Regional Committee for the Brown University Campaign for Academic Enrichment. Mr. Fischer is a past founding board member of the Los Angeles Leadership Academy, a public charter school and now sits on its advisory board. Mr. Fischer is the past President of the Board of the Friends of the Saban Community Clinic and now remains an active member on the Friends Board. He was Chairman of both the 30th and 40th Anniversary Campaigns.
Mr. Fischer is married to his wife Leah and has 3 children, Lauren, Noah and Jeremy.
